The Moonlight Butterfly is arguably the easiest boss in the game for a magic user.

You can pew-pew it down within seconds if you have the appropriate soul level, and make it out without as much as a scratch.

This battle is actually WAY easier if you just summon the witch at the bottom of the stairs, shes hidden by some grass so just cut it and she'll kill the moth in like 3 or 4 hits, its ridiculous AND she uses magic so she doesnt need to wait till it lands

There's also ultra easy mode for the Moonlight Butterfly, break the stuff below the stairs that lead you up there and use that summon sign for Witch Beatrice, she'll kill the thing in a few hits while you sit back and relax.

@DestructiveNoodle Astora's is absolutely garbage. Pretty much every faith build out there is centered around getting 50 faith, the Darkmoon talisman, and the Darkmoon blade enchantment. The enchantment can be used on any +15 weapon of your choice. Popular picks are; claymore, estoc, baldur's side sword, zweihander, and the rapier. You can even try the luther or the scythe.

@DestructiveNoodle You can only enchant weapons on the normal upgrade path. You can not enchant most unique weapons and all boss soul weapons, Some unique weapons you can enchant, such as the silver knight spear, and some dragon weapons you can enchant, such as the dragon king greataxe. However, you can not enchant any weapon that has been upgraded to divine, occult, enchanted, magic, flame, or chaos. Only think about upgrading to +15 for the weapon you plan to enchant.

@chasington89 It might sound a little confusing because there's an upgrade path called enchated weapons but we are referring to the enchantment casts which include: sunlight blade, darkmoon blade, magic weapon, and crystal magic weapon.

@DestructiveNoodle Its alright for early on but any other straight sword upgraded to divine or occult will be much better. I'd go with occult for better stat scaling. I'd reccomend either a darksword, baulder side sword, broadsword, barbed straightsword or sunlight straight sword. They all have a B faith scaling as Occult weapons. The Darksword requires the most work to get and has the highest stats required it will do the same damage as a broadsword or sss. it all depends on the moveset really.

did the moonlight moth earlier and I used a winged spear +5 when the moth was on the ground and while in the air I let it get a bit close I used a fire orb spell which nuked the bug pretty easy-just thought to share another way to do it-great video again.didnt know about the summon sign so I learned more new things.

Upgraded+ Claymore is a nice weapon to move to from the drake sword. You can fight the hydra on the far right side so you don't have to run into the water except for the last head. Stay far right and when you hear him charge start running to where he charges and pewpew!!

@Tbonegtr Guess they're called mini-bosses. This is not really "mini" but still ;).There were also some dragons in Demon's Souls that weren't official bosses. It doesn't matter, in this game you just kill all the sh** you can across, and the Hydra is a big pile of Dung Pie or whatever it was called. Still haven't taken him myself, for some reason can't get close to him, but trying to take him without watching vids on how to :P.

That slow moving magic attack is basically a one shot kill if you don't dodge it (or at least it was for me); just saying because the video doesn't say exactly what will happen if it hits you

@Link3194 Basically there are 3 masses in that ball. That's why trying to dodge is always recommended. If you just gonna stay still you will take all 3 of them in your face and it will most likely 1-shot you.

Also Epic did this fight on a hard mode. If you reverse hollowing before the fight you will be able to find Witch Beatrice's summoning sign in the bushes under the staircase leading to the boss. She will do the most of the job done for you.

lol, i was dying to get any of the black knight weapons, but i gave up the hope a while ago, today i started playing and i got the greataxe (which is DA BAWZ) and two shields :P i really recommend if you get the axe that you use all your twinkling titane, believe me, if you have the right stats its amazing... without upgrades it hits over 400 in one singlehanded blow A-FUCKING-MAZING!!

bro on your next playthrough go to the dragon covenent look it up how to get there i went there farely early in the game and all the lost soldier souls u get can be multiplied with a dragon fire breath u get so u will get 1mil souls everytime u do it i lvled to 117 before i killed this boss and aced it from there

@EpicNameBro same thing happened to me when i fought the hydra, i died 3 time fighting this shit. 1st time i tried i died because of the water he blast at me and i didn't have the time to drink my estus flask when he charge at me again. The other two times i died after he left 1 head and i fell down the edge just like you did. The forth attempt was when he left 1 head i said fuck it, i'm gonna wield my drake sword 2 handed and press R2.

A good tip is to use some long range Pyromancy like Fire Orb with a + 3 Pyromancer's Flame i was hitting for 220.

@Suzumushi100 Apparently they don't. Once you cut off a head it stays off. The health bar refills, sure, but the head stays off. And when you cut off all the heads, it dies. So essentially this is ONE boss with checkpoints.

So if for whatever reason your finding it difficult a sorcerer npc helps ya out if your human ofc.

If you don't have a magic shield you can try what I did.. Stand directly in front of her and as soon as she starts to light up roll twice. I dodged every magic attack that way and didn't have to block anything.

I got the Black Knights Sword early on in the game from the first Black Knight you encounter in the Undead Burg and so far it's been the most powerful weapon I've been able to find. Just getting to this Moonlight Butterfly fight right now @ lvl 30. I also got the great sword from the black knight that's on top of the tower as you enter the undead parish. Just need their great axe and the halbred xD

If you don't have a good shield just stay right in front of the moth and you can easily enough dodge the spike attack or whatever you wanna call it

you can upgrade the drake sword, so it's always useful. It's still the most powerful weapon I have, after upgrading it twice, and I already upgraded other weapons to divine status, and they still don't compare, and I'm half way trough the Sen's Fortress.

The last Hyrdra's head will strike close to you, if you step close on the edge of the pit. You can actually see the floor of the lake, so it wouldn't be so hard, especially since that head won't hit anyway and you can, pretty much, ignore it. :)

Also theres a shield called caedecus round shield or something which you can get in the Firelink graveyard. It's got good magic defense. You can also but an unbroken leather shield from the first undead merchant.

If you trade moss clumps with snuggly the crow it gives back twinkling titanite which is needed to upgrade the shield you get from killing the knight who gave you the estus flasks.

Lol good work, but you did not play that bastard long enough to see it fire it's laser. I would like to add to your advice to kill the butterfly as quickly as possible. For that Hydra with that last head, if you stayed in that spot, their is a frame were the hydra brings it head past you. Time it and smash it in :)

Some good advice, I beat this boss on day one without a magic shield by dodge rolling into the walls on the bridge during his fast needle attack. If you face him directly the bottom needles will hit the wall and won't hit you. There's also a witch you can spawn near the bush under the flight of stairs if you are human.

this boss is cake no matter what...once it lights up, just roll no matter what...if you are standing right in front of her then odds are, you will be just fine regardless of the attack

I got the shield and the sword from the black knights, but when it came down to the last 3, they all gave me useless rocks that any high level enemy will drop, really disappointing. When you killed that lava multi armed monster down the lava pit, did you fight those huge taurus look alike monsters? I gotta tell ya, they pack a punch, and they move really fast, very high HP, I think it's 1600 HP, and there 7 of them down there, if you have the chance, make a video of that. Thanks!

both of t he forest bosses were jokes :( sif you can block 100% of his atks and the moth you can just stand there on edges until he settles in center... 2 settles and he was dead... i died like 10 times on smough/dragonslayer, 10 times on some other earlier ones.. but those two were incredibly disappointing :(

@EzFlyers10 That's BS. Be level 60, and fight SIF, he's hard, you can't block for shit. His attack level gets really high, and the block is pretty useless as it draws half of it. You wanna see it at it's best, go at it at a higher level.

@nowrongway I hear that they only respawn in one of the game's final areas. I haven't reached it yet. You'll probably be without the B.K. Halberd this playthrough, but there are other good weapons to hold you over until you get it!

I'm currently using gargoyle's halberd ( loving polearms) I've upgraded it to +6, but for some reason I don't have an option to get it any higher. Do you know anything about that? I've checked wiki's they don't say anything about any weapons stopping at +6. I have 3 large titanites on me and can't upgrade it.

@nowrongway You need to perform ascension on your weapon. If you give a blacksmith an ember, he can do a specific type of next level upgrade... and then you can continue upgrading as normal
