Media on android phones is a complete joke. I've supposedly got flash 10 installed but all the browsers tell me I have to upgrade my flash to 10, including on THIS VIDEO. Most browsrrs cant even enter text reliably or scroll without false triggering or locking up.

I like you how can download more then just photos from Android's browser, including Apps. Sadly with the iOS, you can only get photos from Safari and the rest comes from iTunes or the App Store. Can get annoying.

I had an iphone and when I finished my contract I gave it away. When I got my android based phone, my jaw dropped and I hated iphone even more. What the fuck does Apple do all day? There are almost no video websites that don't use mp4 videos. Flash-based sites now work in the newest build of android. The phone still has alot more features than most other phones. *cough* iPhone*cough*

g1 i ordered one today, omina is not quite there yet. More like a basic business phone, with a big screen and camera, the interface isnt fancy. g1 has most definatley got alot of potential and you can make it your own, and better yet its linked with google!!!

How is it that I can't read a simple PDF. file. No Office Mobile Apps. available for this "super" I was on the phone for hours with Tec support to find out I can't read any pdf files at all. that crazy.

The phone is T-mobile the OS is open for anyone. It'll have phones coming out for I'm sure all or most major carriers next year. Android is an OS, the G1 is simply the first Android powered device. So yea, the G1 is a T-mobile phone, but the OS is not purely T-mobile.

It should be able to playback all standard types in the browser, just like it can normally (it's got a media player module that any app can use). I don't think there will be flash, though, since that's not open source. Youtube is probably streamed directly from the FLV.

All things considered, the Android OS is open source, everything apple has, someone else can code and run on the OS, apple's is not and can not. This particular phone, running Android has a touch screen AND a qwerty keyboard, AND tactile buttons, the iphone does not. The android OS can be installed on many devices, Apple's OS cannot. So, what does the iphone have on this? AT&T's larger network is all I can think of... though you get T-mobiles beter customer service with this so it evens out.
