i suggest you practice not moving your head when you play. it makes your groove stiff, it makes you tense and your movement dictates your sense of time rather than the other way around.you may try moving your head (i.e. the whole spine) up on the beat and down on the off beat.

check out brazilian tambourine, or pandeiro as they call it, they have a whole technique system worked out.

how incredibly freaking basic can you get? How bout some cuban or traditional rhythms/patterns? Is your audiance really just singers who can't figure out how to play the pulse? I thought these were "experts", lets at least have some intermediate-level demonstration. My granny could have figured everything out that he just did in about 5 minutes with a tamborine. Don't you think anyone you-tubing "tamborine lessons" would like more than 1,2,3,4. This won't encourage me to visit the site.
