can anyone tell me why anytime any of these new digital cameras pan right or left it looks so jerky? Is that a rolling shutter effect? I really hate that.
@fourth1000 hardly a comparison. Sony is a real camcorder with pro body and features. The difference is huge. Also the Canon has a crappy codec where the lack of correct implementation requires a huge bitrate. Really I cou
$6000 sony vs. $2300 5dm2... im leaning towards the mark2. i can buy all this cameras vid features for $400. then seperat audio for $300. pluse i get a 21mgp photocam. and i can tear all attachments off and make it a small for prying eyes.
The FS100 derived night time footage was all shot at 12dB gain as the standard zoom lens has a 'fastest' aperture of only f/3.5. In the native images there is minimal noise and unfortunately web compression does greatly amplify this so the images look far worse than they really are. If you are at all concerned about the noise I'd strongly recommend getting a hands on demo of the FS100E, so if you're in the UK call us on 01527 854222 to arrange.
The camera we were provided for review was a prototype model that only had 'US' frame rates enabled. The units actually shipping in the EU are all 50Hz based, therefore giving 50p, 50i and 25p frame rates...

@mark84j Lol, most expensive pro cameras are just cubes...good cameras aren't made to look pretty, they're made to shoot pretty images.

2) Is noise in dark shots on original or just due to web compression?
This will determine whether I get this camera.
Thx. band_cameraman@yahoo.com

The footage has obviously been edited into this review so the final render might have been 60i. Also YouTube has a max of 30fps
