@17205513 What do you mean his style isn't there? It's all in his face, that way he closes his eyes and hunkers down to the piano to spit out some nasty juxtaposed rhythms...his control of dynamics, especially his dwelling on the almost indistinguishable pianissimos that a lesser trained ear could not appreciate or even catch.

A great approach... enough technique to get the notes out uncluttered, and some interesting (sometimes stirring) voicings. Maybe I'm getting old... but I appreciate the measured unfolding in his interpretations, rather than the bombardment that sometimes happens with virtuosi. ^..^
@koreankayagum THIS SI TRUE!!! I BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE GIVING ALOT OF THESE GUYS THEIR FLOWERS TO SOON. I REALLY DON'T HEAR ANYTHING PERSONAL IN HIS PLAYING AND STYLISTICALLY SORT OF BORING. HE CAN PLAY, BUT THAT ISN'T ENOUGH!!!
Vijay is a nice guy. Nice guy does not equal a good musician of which he is not. His lack of emotion is replaced with math. His math knowledge is very good but math does not equal good music. Emotion determines dynamics of which he greatly lacks. If he could come out of denial about who he is and confront he fear of his own heart he would have a chance. It is up to him
@sfrber2003 What on earth give you the right to copy and paste this idiotic and uninformed comment about Iyer on multiple vides. What exactly do you know about the denial in his heart, and the fear in his heart. You obviously have to much time on you hands or a personal vendetta against Iyer, did he run over your dog?

At least we still have Bill Evans, Monk and Art Tatum on CD, so all is not lost.
