@YukonCornelius1776 Yeah, I never could get the hairpin quite right on a fast lap. That's probably why I went all-out on 130R like I did (see 1:39; that run was my first time attacking it like that).
yeah. I always slow down way more than I need to at that 130R, kinda weird getting intimidated by speed in a video game, and then I never slow down enough right after 130R on turn 15. I think its the way it looks like you have two or three options there that screws me up.

Hello, pal. Can you answer me one question? Is the car on the license test EXACTLY the same as the one used on the races? Or does it have any kind of modification? I mean, how did you train for this test? Doing lots of "retries" or getting the car in the game and doing lots of laps on the track?
@KrisiunDark Sorry for the late reply! I'm not sure how it compares to the car you get in your garage, because I just kept retrying the test and racing against my ghost in order to improve.
@nitromad48 Can't turn from full lock say to 3/4 and back to full lock fast enough with a wheel unfortunately. Perhaps with an F1 style wheel that is only 360 degrees lock to lock it would be easier?
@Davis54pa Practice a bunch and experiment with different lines and braking points. Racing your ghost and comparing your ghost to the demo can help a lot when approaching the gold time. (You can turn your ghost on while watching the demo, but if I recall correctly, it only works once per ghost run)
I tell you, its amazing how great this game still is. I got ps2 & 3 with GT5 Prologue and im still obsessing with this game, even though ive had it 5 years. Cracking game. Great lap too my friend. And to all those saying its a demo run 'FUCKING MUPPETS!'
I can get golds and silvers on the National A and B tests, but the IA-IB tests are really tough. It's bronze there with some silvers and the odd gold if I'm lucky.
The spoon corners at Suzuka are a nightmare. There are no distance markers or or distinguishing scenary to mark a braking point - I have to guess and I either take a conservative slow line or I'm off the track into the kitty litter, how the hell people can manage something like this lap with a DS2 simply astounds me.

That's just an amazing run. I always get jealous how I see others get gold so easily on these license tests, due to the fact I've only gotten 1 gold ever on any of the license tests, and only something like 14-15 silvers ever. Not to mention at least a few tests where I tried replaying them, + barely fell short of upgrading my bronze time to silver! :(

@DaShadowInc It's the replay theater. I made that run about six months before I had any video capture equipment. It's a saved replay of my run. The demo is slower; anyone who owns GT4 can tell you that.
@RedShootProductions If you have the game, you can look at the demo yourself and you'll see that this is faster. Also, there are some points where it's really obvious that I'm using manual transmission (downshifting too early), while the demos use AT.
I am going to try and get gold on this license test aswell. This one is a tough one. I have been trying hard and my last best lap was1.56.270 or something. I will let you know how I go when I try and get gold on this test when I try and do it again.
This makes me want to go back to GT4 to relive the old memories... maaan... good days... and that photoshoot mode, that was the best ever... especially in that one NYC map, or I think it was NYC, it's been 3 years since I played this...
What aid do you still have turned on? I'm too lazy to turn on GT4 to find out. Hahah I usually race with all of them turned off. This car doesn't handle too bad with everything off. Oh damn nevermind. License test make you keep aids on. Nevermind. Good driving though. :)
It's generally easier due to more lenient times and forced driver aids (unlike GT3 which had no aids, so you had to really think about how to approach tests like S-7 and S-8). However, there are now 80 golds to get (plus the five coffee breaks that don't count towards the gold prize cars) instead of 48.
Thanks for the speedy response. Easier? That's a relief, it couldn't get much harder. Though I found S-6 to be most difficult among them. S-7 and S-8 were both completed within 2 hours of rage.
Oh yeah, S-6 was a monster for me as well -- the most frustrating part for me was watching the demo take some impossible-looking lines through some of the corners. I mentioned S-7 and S-8 (and S-5 applies as well) because the lack of aids forces you to be careful with throttle and steering inputs. The tests in GT4 just don't challenge you in the same way IMO.
That's kind of sad too, because the feeling of accomplishment is directly proportional to the difficulty level. I was ecstatic once all golds were obtained, for good reason. A perfect ending was at S-8 when I beat the required gold time of 1 second... Ok, so it was 999th of a second but still good I thought to finish off with.
Just playing through the old, scratched GT3 disc to finally get it over with, so I can move on to newer revisions. Looking really forward to GT4.

well, if you are using a soft or super soft racing tire for your car, it will overheat easily. If you want your tires not to overheat at a short period you must use a hard or medium racing tires but you'll have to sacrifice your car's grip with these durable tires.

I am going to try and get gold on this license test aswell. This one is a tough one. I have been trying hard and my last best lap was1.56.270 or something. I will let you know how I go when I try and get gold on this test when I try and do it again.

Update: I got gold at this S-12 test & I also got gold on the lasts tests after this one so I finally got the 1915 Ford T!.

This makes me want to go back to GT4 to relive the old memories... maaan... good days... and that photoshoot mode, that was the best ever... especially in that one NYC map, or I think it was NYC, it's been 3 years since I played this...

What aid do you still have turned on? I'm too lazy to turn on GT4 to find out. Hahah I usually race with all of them turned off. This car doesn't handle too bad with everything off. Oh damn nevermind. License test make you keep aids on. Nevermind. Good driving though. :)

I'm getting GT4 soon and wondered how the difficulty is getting gold on all license tests in GT4 is compared to GT3?
GT3 was a super bitch but I did it after a few controllers and fingers.

It's generally easier due to more lenient times and forced driver aids (unlike GT3 which had no aids, so you had to really think about how to approach tests like S-7 and S-8). However, there are now 80 golds to get (plus the five coffee breaks that don't count towards the gold prize cars) instead of 48.

Thanks for the speedy response. Easier? That's a relief, it couldn't get much harder. Though I found S-6 to be most difficult among them. S-7 and S-8 were both completed within 2 hours of rage.

Oh yeah, S-6 was a monster for me as well -- the most frustrating part for me was watching the demo take some impossible-looking lines through some of the corners. I mentioned S-7 and S-8 (and S-5 applies as well) because the lack of aids forces you to be careful with throttle and steering inputs. The tests in GT4 just don't challenge you in the same way IMO.

That's kind of sad too, because the feeling of accomplishment is directly proportional to the difficulty level. I was ecstatic once all golds were obtained, for good reason. A perfect ending was at S-8 when I beat the required gold time of 1 second... Ok, so it was 999th of a second but still good I thought to finish off with.
Just playing through the old, scratched GT3 disc to finally get it over with, so I can move on to newer revisions. Looking really forward to GT4.

@lumixcamfan - This is hard as hell, guess I tried 200 times before achieving gold. Hasn't anything to do with making faults or not, you just have to beat the time.

well, if you are using a soft or super soft racing tire for your car, it will overheat easily. If you want your tires not to overheat at a short period you must use a hard or medium racing tires but you'll have to sacrifice your car's grip with these durable tires.
