Do you need strong fingers to play the violin? Stronger than for piano? I know the mechanics must be very different for a violin than a piano, but I was wondering because Id like to take violin up.

@LiiChinHo Kind of cuz you have to be able to hold the strings down (but not too hard cuz it'll hurt your fingers) & not press the other strings

I used to played the viola (like a violin but a deeper sound) & I put too much pressure on the strings o_o

@LiiChinHo Piano doesn't require any force lol. from the age you can press lightly, you can take up piano. Violin is for those who can press really damn hard haha, and have alot of arm strength( the holding up of the violin and the bow).

@blingblingshineshine a violin is pretty light.. it doesn't take much arm strength. how i know? because i play the viola which is bigger than the violin and it isn't that hard to hold up. and i agree with @emebear41 that doesn't make the piano any easier. You also have not considered how you have two read two different cleffs at the same time where as when you play a violin you only read one cleff :P
