Learn and adhere to your 5-step arc (Get RIGHT up against your posts when at the edges), be aware of the angle of your body (let the ball deflect away from the goal, not into it). Practice practice practice with your hands - make sure your brain doesn't panic when the ball goes down your weak side.
And remember - every bruise is a save. It will hurt, but there is no position in sport more noble than goaltending.

I have played in goal and coached goalies, it is the most demanding position on the field. You have to do things that other players aren't required to do. Everyone who never has been between the pipes has a misconception of what it takes to be a good goalie, these people usually think the fat uncoordinated kid should be in goal- absolutely Not! As a coach I want my best athlete on the team in goal. Unless you have played the position, you have NO idea what is involved with it.

i play girls lacrosse and i am a sophomore on varsity... (i know girls lax is a joke but a shot is a shot...) and my right leg is practically black green and blue and i wear padding on my legs... but i mostly block with my body, and i don't get how guys don't wear a lot of padding... must get bruised up even worse then me heh :] but goalie is sincerely the hardest and best position on the team... i find it an honor to play:]
It's about time someone made a goalie highlight reel, and I'll say thet it was pretty good. I have been playing goalie for 6 years now and am only in the 8th grade. I won the job on the high school varsity team (only 13 years old) and have gotten crazy good. My best word of advice to any lacrosse goalie is to play above their age group. you may not seem like the best goalie, but it definitely pays off when you are off playing in college.

that is true f you killerklein, ive been playing goalie and all other positions on the feild for over four years and with that experience i say goalie is the best. goalie is the best and most respectable postion.

killerklein, did you not just watch that video? I play goalie and every game (unless you're playing a god awful team) the goalie busts his ass. That is the hardest position. It's a small, hard, fast piece of rubber that hurts like a bitch when it hits you. Don't bash goalies unless you'e played a season as one.

i played goalie the first year i played. the varsity team had no goalie so the went to me, a freshmen hockey goalie n they wanted me 2 play. it was quite a thrill in every game. we werent tht good but i improve alot. idk if ill play next year tho

dude!!!!!!! i am a goalie and if u think it's easy, back off!!!! we do our thing often without our defenders doing much. we take the hardest shots, which hurt like no other, and i have the scars and bruises to prove it. it kinda sucks being a girl and playing lacrosse, because we all really want 2 play the boys' game, which is waaaaay more intense, but we do with what we got, and it's intense. I GIVE PROPS TO ALL FELLOW GOALIES!!!!!!

totally agree. people, even those who play lacrosse don't understand how hard it is. you need intense concentration, trying to keep up with the ball. all while calling slides and directing the d. i'm not not one to complain, but its nice someone is finally giving us some props

k well im a goalie too and i guess i kinda agree with some of the shit you said but 2 things one i havent seen one girl goalie that could legitamently play at the guys level in highschool or college and they can barely keep up with theyre own girl leagues and 2. girls shots barely break 60 sure it hurts but not taht bad,

Man mad props to any lax goalies. You guys are fucking nuts. When ever im playing in the stack and a shot comes from a bit outside, Im always watching my ass making sure I dont get hit. I could never purposely get in the way of the shot lmao.

i play girls lacrosse and i am a sophomore on varsity... (i know girls lax is a joke but a shot is a shot...) and my right leg is practically black green and blue and i wear padding on my legs... but i mostly block with my body, and i don't get how guys don't wear a lot of padding... must get bruised up even worse then me heh :] but goalie is sincerely the hardest and best position on the team... i find it an honor to play:]

It's about time someone made a goalie highlight reel, and I'll say thet it was pretty good. I have been playing goalie for 6 years now and am only in the 8th grade. I won the job on the high school varsity team (only 13 years old) and have gotten crazy good. My best word of advice to any lacrosse goalie is to play above their age group. you may not seem like the best goalie, but it definitely pays off when you are off playing in college.

im in eighth grade, and i just started playing lacrosse about six weeks ago (i went from being a competitive cheerleader to lax, who would have know!?)
and im goalie, and i think being goalie is soooooo much fun. my coaches are prettty psyched cause im actually really good at it, since im not afraid to get hit with the ball [:
