  • Yeah I have drain pain, well doesnt hurt as much anymore, but its uncomfortable. im a 17 yr old male. Dialysis is really tedious.

  • hello can i tell you something it don;t take all that to stay alive frist let me no that you are alive

  • I hear a lot of people on here talking about drain pain and that they have been told it is unusual. I don't know why this myth persists. It is not unusual. I was on PD for years. I had drain pain in the beginning, it went away after about 1.5 years. The time it takes to go away may be different for everyone, and some ppl may never experience drain pain. But it will go away.

Ask your clinic about tidal function on this machine, it can eliminate drain pain until your body adjusts.

  • Visited the site but it doesn't exist. Fail.

  • Guy,s I'm new dialysis. So difficult to understand why it happen like this. Already 2 weeks in hospital need to live normal but I can't anymore somebody donor me KIDNEY. OMG HELP ME!!!!!!

  • Why isn't savilla wearing a mask when she connects herself to the machine ? I was told always wear a mask when doing so to prevent infections.

  • I get really bad drain pains...like poking and stabbing in my stomach/rectum area...and then the fills make me feel like i'm sick to my stomach and need to vomit. After about 2 weeks on dialysis the fill nausea went away..but not the drain pains!!

  • @chopsuey061987 Try to turn around from left to right in a kind of shaking motion wile filling... it might just get the end of the catheter of of that spot...

  • Re-no mask. Not all people can connect their tubing in 2 seconds. Elderly, vision impaired, those with dexterity problems often take a little longer. Staph aureus exists on the skin, but also resides in the nose of many people. S, aureus, as well as other organisms, can become airborne; documentation of this fact can be found in many well-designed clinical studies. My point is, why take the risk?? Masking takes only a second.

  • Please, please wear a mask. Savilla has been very fortunate not to have developed peritonitis. Imagine the entire lining of your abdomen being infected. 85% of all PD infections are caused by a bacteria called staph aureus. Guess where s. aureus lives...in your nose and mouth. An infections is no fun...and if your infection is not properly taken care of, you might not be able to stay on PD. Please be careful and don't take any unnecessary risks. Good luck and best of health to all on PD.

  • @slane1231 Though your concern is surely appreciated, your assumptions have 2 problems: first, germs can only get into the fluid stream during connection, which is less than 2 seconds. Secondly, staph aureas bacteria are spread via touch infections, not by breathing or coughing on the opened connection. In short, the importnace of a mask is exaggerated.

  • This brings me right back to that time.... know every sound of that damned thing!!! know exactly when to do the next step you know... And by the way hahaha I didn't where a face-mask ever I just hold distance and my breath just make sure you don't sneeze lol. I hooked on the bags while testing... Now I have a new kidney thanks to my sister! Thinking of all you people.... I did it for almost 3 years. I have a new kidney for just 9 months...

  • @majetoJESUS youve had a transplant? same..hard in the beggining but easy the rest =)...

  • @TheJoe666999 Yeah at the beginning it was not that nice to be honest. But now aver a change of medication and little more than 1,5 year later my health got really good! I'm very happy!! I lost the 20 pounds I gained after the operation! Lost my girlfriend because of that weight... She thought I wasn't trying hard enough to lose that weight, guess she's just to stupid to understand...

  • hi . im on my 3rd cathiter. has anyone else lost a cathiter . if so can someone please tell me how to deal im about to go nuts. i dont want to go back to hemo. i just got this one and i have been doing my flushes with my nurses. so they gave me some bags and supplys till i learn the new liberty ccycler. but my fluid looks wonky. been 6 months since off pd. what do i do. should i be worried

  • shouldnt matter if stomach looks bigger if it is saveing your life. im trying to start my pd again after difficult inffection. and i love pd more than hemo. lot more freedom. i hope things work out for me .

  • can anyone tell please if this makes your stomach look bigger.

  • I agree with a lot of the comments here. I've been doing PD for the past 8 years and I ALWAYS were a face mask when hooking up the machine and hooking myself to it.

Not to be disrespectful, but you're asking for peritnitis. Just from breathing germs could fly out of our nose and mouth. By using a face mask would prevent this. I've had peritnitis 2 or 3 times since I've been on PD. It's nothing fun. It's very painful. Just a friendly piece of advice.

  • Savilla is glad she decided to do dialysis, because it helped her a lot. However, she started PD when her kidney function was only 4%. Her doctors urged her to start months earlier, but she refused to because she was in denial. Savilla thinks that her postponing treatment may be the reason she had so many symptoms from ESRD. She also severe pain on the initial and final drains, which is unusual.

  • I've been doing dialysis for 14 yrs since the age of 15 so I know the deal

  • I am going to be doing this in a matter of months.... I am gonna hate every second of it too!! :(

  • I had Peritonitis. Sometimes it isn't the fault of any person (mine was caused by abscesses). Thanks for this video. A lot of people will be interested in this video who are trying to decide what type of dialysis to go with and there are more Hemo vids than PD vids. Thanks for making this. I was on Baxter back in 1990 when I was 16 but this time around I was on Fresenius. I am in Canada too but not the same Province as you Savilla :)

  • Sheila Shaw used to use the Baxter Cycler as well and she was very active during the days. Thank you for showing us this video. If you are considering dialysis, please investigate PD to see if this form of dialysis will fit help you live a more active and energetic life.

  • Have you ever been infected with Peritonitis?

  • Luckily, Savilla never had peritonitis or any other infections. Her nurse taught her to make sure her hands were washed and sterilized before touching any supplies. She was also told her to wear a mask and gloves if she had a cough or a cold.

  • As a peritoneal patient also, I'm very surprised that you're not wearing a mask, especially when you're putting the cassette, attaching the bags and especially when you're connecting yourself. Not a very sterile environment...

  • Thanks for sharing this video!
