My dad sings this all the time out of the random and it's soo funny!!!!Now that I've actually seen the REAL video , he sounds exactly like this guy :)
No joke; when my sister and I were little, we would pop our cassette of Sesame Street/Jim Henson songs into either our parents' car/van or the stereo in my sister's room and jam to "Mahna Mahna", even though neither of us had seen the original music video. Ah, what fun memories!
my brothers used to sing a version of this whenever my mum baked her banana loaf - i never understood the significance until i first heard it on the muppets! Genius!

Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need religion, hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important, qualitative differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption.
Homosexual activists, with complete support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims and martyrs; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
The great thing about this skit was taking an existing nonsensical piece of music and being able to create a scenario that somehow manages to make sense of it all despite still being totally absurd.
The original song 'Mah Nà Mah Nà' is from the soundtrack of the 1968 movie 'Sweden: Heaven and Hell' and peaked at #55 on the Billboard pop chart. Jim Henson had previously done a skit based on this song for Sesame Street in 1969. See the Wikipedia article for more.
@imagineerboi The song gets reused for just that during "Muppets Tonight", with Sandra Bullock singing "Phenomenon" instead. Might be where the confusion comes in.
a classic muppet moment.thank you the family of jim henson for putting this up.

My mom and I would sing this together all the time when I was little. Right down to the exact inflection and comedic pauses. <3

Classic. One of the best Muppet sketches, and it's mostly the same words over and over again. Brilliant.
