If it didn't work for you, the problem is either you typed something wrong or you have a bad proxy. And you do NOT have to download to get it to work, it can be streamed as long as you have a good proxy. Just google "check proxy" to see if you have a good one or not.
still need to find a uk proxy which takes a lot of hunting, i was hoping that this was going to avoid that pain in the arse way - so this is no good for me
I found another way: Try entering a free proxy in the UK to connect to your program on iplayer. Next, don;t watch it, but download it. The transfer will be way too slow, so remove the proxy again as transfers are peer-to-peer.
This is all just BS: The title of the video says "no browser proxy" ... but in the instructions you use the 'FoxyProxy' Firefox extension - to set a browser proxy for the BBC site. Just because you're not using the normal proxy setting method in Firefox doesn't mean it doesn't need a proxy.
I done all the setup thing for it but when i click play video it always said this video is univalible at the moment plaes try again later why is this???
I have downloaded Firefox 3, but I notice that when I click on 'Tools', I do not get all the options shown in your video, and in particular the word (which I can't quite make out) between 'Clear Private Data' and 'Options' in the Advanced Network window. have I downloaded the wrong version of Firefox or something?
Ha ha ha. In your step-by-step instruction you have this:
8. In Hostname and Port enter the Hostname and Port (and select if it is a SOCKS Proxy and version if using SOCKS)
So, we still need proxy but put it not into browser settings but into plugin. But major problem for people here: where to find working UK proxy. I spent about 1 hour and can't find one...
I live abroad and i can confirm IT DOES work perfect. Takes a bit of time and you have to find the correct host name and port (which iam not going to say just incase too many people use the same one and it gets closed down by the BBC) so you will have to work out your own ip numbers.

Try ExpatShield instead. Free to download & use. Gives you a UK IP.
