I was pretty disappointed in Greendale overall although I think Be the Rain is a great song, and I love the part in the movie when Neil does a Wayne Newton impersonation.

this album is a hidden gem for Neil fans. My all time favorite of his. It is good that not many people know about this album because we can have it for ourselves but when we want to talk about it nobody knows what they hell we are talking about.

I saw the Greendale Tour in South Florida... Everyone was pissed that he played that in it's entirety, and not all classics (he did play some classics afterwards) but I thought it was classic Neil, and an awesome production!

@RRimh That's really neat to hear. I've always found Neil to be that rare artist who remains potent year after year. I haven't heard Greendale yet myself, but not because I don't have faith in Neil - just been checking out other things, I guess. But it seems like you can go always back to Neil and he's doing something worthwhile. Even on his overlooked albums, there's some good stuff.

@RRimh Agreed. Neil demonstrated his profound understanding of the post-911 moment, and this album stands among his best work. I saw the Greendale show at S.P.A.C. in Upstate NY. On the morning of the concert, he came through the doorway of the hotel and I almost walked right into him -- my jaw dropped. I stammered and asked him for a photo. He looked startled, gave me a strange look and said no, that he had to go something, and walked away. It is one of my all time greatest memories of life.

i am so lucky i have all copies of their albums/sings on dvd's and cd's which were given to me by no other than their band member PONCHO SAMPEDRO, their guitar player. more lucky because i was able to sing with him. we always have great time together. i love him. he's the greatest man i;ve ever met.hmmmmm

Thanks for this. I caught Neil on this tour in ATL, but I didn't get the full experience. They couldn't fit all the actors and stuff on the stage or something. The crowd was also full of a bunch of yuppie dickheads who kept bitchin about not hearing a greatest hits medley.

this was a great concert i saw in houston and its a real treat to relive one of the best concerts i have ever been to and i have been to alot. to hear a new album from beginning to end before it was released was a great thing and from neil young

Thanks. The most unique and one of the most entertaining concert experiences I've ever had. He released the Greendale movie and his solo concert of the songs. I wonder why a commercial presentation of the musical hasn't been released.
