The reason why Nintendo is in the shit right now is because all the good 3rd party games are coming out only on PS3, 360, and PC. Wii has not been coming out with any good titles lately, and the only good titles in the past couple of years seem to be Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 and Zelda, that's it. Nintendo keeps releasing games that people are just "meh" about.
Only thing that is keeping them alive is Pokemon and the handheld market.
I just bought a nintendo wii... for £40 ($60 dollars nowadays I believe lol) in january.. today.. in the next hour... I'm heading into town and getting Xenoblade and The Last Story.. in pawn shops they're selling 2nd hand wii's like crazy there's a tower.. yes a tower of wii's in one shop (about 9 intotal) for £44... I'm both happy and very sad... I'm late too the party.. but loving the wii atm.. playing paper mario for n64.. prime corruption and these two awesome games.. in the next two months
the....I think/guess good news about Batman Arkham City, as alot of us know already, is it comes out for the wii-u. I'll have to look it up and see if there's any new news about it.
You know, after the gamecube which I really enjoyed, I really wanted to keep playing and buying nintendo products, but the hardware they produce just doesnt attract me, it just sucks! I didnt like the pencil and two screen structure of the DS, and I hated motion controllers, so then I just moved to Sony, and it is awesome! I love my Ps2 and Ps3!
If nintendo would release a console without motion controllers, or at least with the option to play with a classic controller, I would buy it.

The DS had the stylus, but quite honestly, some of the best games on it utilized the screen as an extra and ditched the stylus completely. It was RPG heaven, and it released some of the best RPGs out there in a very, very long time. Nostalgia, Radiant Historia and, for the lulz, Super Robot Taisen come to mind.
@RebornAleph Yeah, your right, it's just that I dont like the hardware, although like you said lots of the Wii games allow to play with the classic controller, it's not the way it was supposed to be played, they manufactured it with another purpose, to play with a motion controller, the classic controller is just something secondary. And for the DS, maybe I should give it a chance, but it really doesnt look good to me, I just dont like how Nintendo changed the structure of their hardwares.
@soccerhighlights1000 I wish they could just give us a simple console like the gamecube with a normal controller, possibly with better graphics (dont really mind about them but just for a plus) but the same hardware, and be releasing new games for it.
The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is not the only triple A game being release this year, there also is Kirby's Return To Dreamland that was released in October... and I effing loved it, It's a classic return like New Super Mario Bros Wii!
Ah man the Vita. Every Sony fan I know is going ape shit about that. It's obviously the biggest thing for Sony after the Ps2 around where I live. I am also looking forward to that console but not for the sake of replacing my beloved PSP. It's because that fuckers dying! It's on/off switch is gone, the disk tray opens up with the slightest touch and the shell guarding the battery is missing. I whouldn't be surprised if that thing whould just blow up like a Michael bay's wet dream any moment now.

i have to agree with him about the 3ds - no one buys video games during the summer, unless maybe they have a summer job, but i what i do is all year long i buy games or get them as gifts then in the summer i stop buying and then play everything i have and usually dont buy/get otther games until the end of the summer which is my birthday.
they should stop putting shity characters super smash bros for one! also bring back the characters that people cared about! not like remake it i mean make a totally new game of that chracter.
And to be honest I don't care much for graphics either, i don't give a shit if sony and microsoft have high end graphics because I will always have more fun on nintendo.
@matr1x604 i think because the wii nunchuck doesnt have a good enough anolog stick like the xbox,ps3, and ps3 - the nuckuck has those corners so you cant make a perfect 360 but thats just my idea

I play Bioshock and I still get my Nintendo kicks in....everyone seems to be into the shooters and military based games, which Nintendo doesn't have a lot of.....thank god for that, I might add.

they should definitely make a bad ass pokemon game for the wii/ wii U, none of these shitty Pokemon Stadium type of games that have been releasing... although i did like pokemon stadium back on the n64 hah. Something like the handheld games would be awesome. I'd fucking pay the 50$ to have pokemon red (or whatever they decide to make) with 3d graphics and with all the gyms, pokemon, etc. Kind of like Colosseum, but with everything that the handheld pokemon games offered.
1) Stop alienating the hardcore gamers. You know the people that made them the juggernaut they are today so they could have the freedom to go on this casual fest.

anyway, one thing I think was missed that was brought up by yellkaos, they ruined their rep amongst both moderates and hardcore with their shitty VC support. Yes better VC support is maybe only $200mil at the most but it was taken as a small preview as to how Nintendo was beginning to simply not care, and they did basically nothing to compete with the emulation scene. Why would I buy VC titles when with a little bit of work I can play ONLINE flawlessly on ZSNES or Kaillera?
This right here, plus their horrid trickle over this moronic belief if they put too many out at once 'nobody would have time to play them,' I think hurt 3DS sales some too. What if you don't like the genres those 2-3 titles are from? You're fucked til next month. Plus they should have looked closer at how often EVERYONE enjoys playing online. Remember Xband? Ha haah. Nintendo is sorta going the way Sega was going when they released the Sega CD, Saturn and 32X. They keep making bad choices that companies SHOULDN'T be making.
To be fair. When compared with other game developers Nintendo's development teams are rather small, I mean apparently Super Mario Galaxy only had about 30 people working on it. And we also know that Skyward Sword had both the portable/console Zelda teams and still they barely topped the 100 people mark. With the lack of manpower there is inevitably going to be a shortage of games, so while I'm not happy with it I'll take quality over quantity.
Imagine how much money they would make if they graphically remastered Resident Evil 2, 3, and CVX for the wii, using the gamecube controllers >_> Especially three, that one was so critically acclaimed by so many. They'd make some serious cash if they did that!

Everyone keeps talking about all the shit that the Wii has, but as long as you know not to touch the crap titles there is no reason you can't enjoy the great games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Zelda Skyward Sword, Super Mario Galaxy, Sin & Punishment Star Successor, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and so on..
Besides, The SNES, NES, Game Boy all had their share of poor titles too.
Heh. It's the same for every console they put out. Nice in the first half, fuck up in the later half. I think the biggest problem is when they plan to put out a new console, they deliberately ignore the one that's currently out right now. So Wii gets ignored after like 3 years because of newer plans. But even then, they need 3rd parties to sustain something, and they've chosen horse power over innovation. Look at Sega, they've admitted it with Generations (I couldn't even believe it.)
I think Nintendo scored a huge win with the Wii, then got complacent. I don't really get why people think "casual gamers" are a problem, but whatever. Nintendo America refusing to sell us the games we want is obviously the worst business plan imaginable for a company who's business is selling games. Back in the 1980s there might have been justification for risk aversion in the (then) dying market, but now it is just stupid. Nintendo forever, but Nintendo America needs new management for sure.
In terms of catering to the fans I agree... but in terms of finantial decisions the fanbase is not big enough to warrent the translation and publish of Mother 1 & 3 and excpect to get enough copies to score victory emidiately. I just think they should give Mother 2 another shot. That thing was even friggin out for the American SNES so why not? Well mabye there really are some kind of License issues or something I dunno.

yea alpha i bought the wii on launch day from the begining and heres the big problem with me trying to get one they were almost all sold out here in alabama wal mart out, best buy out, k mart out, Eastdale mall out, and i called everywhere and toys r us was the only place lefted to get it and i lefted at 2 am in the morning to get it a long line ass line and i got it with the new legend of zelda and now no new games wtf well except for the new zelda skyward sword more new games for the wii pleas

Nintendo needs to rethink their unique IPs - or hell, use some from series that would be compatible with their hardware! They've basically made the same game since the first one came out, just changing a few minor things instead of doing something new with it (until recently).
Granted, some of the changes have been rather major (see Metroid Prime series), but in general, they're the same games, and not even reskinned ones either...

I completely agree with you. They need to start paying attention to what fans want... are they brain dead? "Oh, millions of people want a GOOD Star Fox sequel or a new Mother game... but I dunno if it'd sell... so we won't" Obviously if they are being begged for years... people will buy the games. You should look at the way the Japanese government funds large companies in trouble. For years the Japanese government kept Toyota afloat. They consider large companies falling to be dishonourable for the country and provided loans that weren't expected to be paid back.

It is natural that a company makes losts over the years and still can live like nothing happen but I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't even try. Not only the games for Operation Rainfall...overall removing the region code would be nice and offering more games for the Vitual Consoles.

Nintendo was in a rush trying to get their system out before the vita (then NGP). I dont think nintendo expected that the vita was in no way ready to release.
Ok nintendo is just being screwed over by other game companies because of stuff that they have invented, they made the first hand helds, the first 3d system (even though it failed it was ahead of its tie), they ade the first 64 bit console but then playstation had to go off of the genesis and make a disc game, and finally the wii was the first to use sensors, then ps3, then xbox, NINTENDO IS WHY WE HAVE COME THIS FAR, others steal from them and go one step further.
See I also think that with Unemployment and lay-offs, businesses shrinking and people not making as much money, maybe there isn't the same amount of money people have to spend on such games. Speaking only from personal experience, I can't afford a new console, or even games for them, seeing as cost of rent, food and other bullshit seems to be going up and up. Maybe my thought isn't the ONLY thing causing Nintendo to lose money, I love me some Zelda, but maybe it is a factor in this equation.

@MobianTopFighter Super Mario 64 DS is a DS game that was first released in 2004. The only Mario Kart game coming to 3DS is Mario Kart 7 so I have no idea where you got the idea that they're remaking Mario Kart 64.
@MobianTopFighter Well I know for a fact that there is no such thing as Mario Kart 64 3D and that SM64DS is a DS game. Super Mario 3D Land isn't actually a remake either. It's a new game that is actually like the 3D console Mario games. It is called 3D Land because it is the first 3D Mario game on a handheld (not counting 64 DS since that was a remake), while Super Mario Land was the first 2D handheld Mario. It has more or less been confirmed that the next Zelda game for 3DS will be a new game.

I didnt like the pencil and two screen structure of the DS, and I hated motion controllers, so then I just moved to Sony, and it is awesome! I love my Ps2 and Ps3!
If nintendo would release a console without motion controllers, or at least with the option to play with a classic controller, I would buy it.

The DS had the stylus, but quite honestly, some of the best games on it utilized the screen as an extra and ditched the stylus completely. It was RPG heaven, and it released some of the best RPGs out there in a very, very long time. Nostalgia, Radiant Historia and, for the lulz, Super Robot Taisen come to mind.
Same deal with the 3DS.
So, I guess you missed out on a lot there, bud.

@RebornAleph Yeah, your right, it's just that I dont like the hardware, although like you said lots of the Wii games allow to play with the classic controller, it's not the way it was supposed to be played, they manufactured it with another purpose, to play with a motion controller, the classic controller is just something secondary. And for the DS, maybe I should give it a chance, but it really doesnt look good to me, I just dont like how Nintendo changed the structure of their hardwares.

Ah man the Vita. Every Sony fan I know is going ape shit about that. It's obviously the biggest thing for Sony after the Ps2 around where I live. I am also looking forward to that console but not for the sake of replacing my beloved PSP. It's because that fuckers dying! It's on/off switch is gone, the disk tray opens up with the slightest touch and the shell guarding the battery is missing. they should definitely make a bad ass pokemon game for the wii/ wii U, none of these shitty Pokemon Stadium type of games that have been releasing... although i did like pokemon stadium back on the n64 hah. Something like the handheld games would be awesome. anyway, one thing I think was missed that was brought up by yellkaos, they ruined their rep amongst both moderates and hardcore with their shitty VC support. Yes better VC support is maybe only $200mil at the most but it was taken as a small preview as to how Nintendo was beginning to simply not care, and they did basically nothing to compete with the emulation scene. To be fair. When compared with other game developers Nintendo's development teams are rather small, I mean apparently Super Mario Galaxy only had about 30 people working on it. And we also know that Skyward Sword had both the portable/console Zelda teams and still they barely topped the 100 people mark. With the lack of manpower there is inevitably going to be a shortage of games, so while I'm not happy with it I'll take quality over quantity.

Heh. It's the same for every console they put out. Nice in the first half, fuck up in the later half. I think the biggest problem is when they plan to put out a new console, they deliberately ignore the one that's currently out right now. So Wii gets ignored after like 3 years because of newer plans. But even then, they need 3rd parties to sustain something, and they've chosen horse power over innovation. Look at Sega, they've admitted it with Generations (I couldn't even believe it.)

I think Nintendo scored a huge win with the Wii, then got complacent. I don't really get why people think "casual gamers" are a problem, but whatever. Nintendo America refusing to sell us the games we want is obviously the worst business plan imaginable for a company who's business is selling games. Back in the 1980s there might have been justification for risk aversion in the (then) dying market, but now it is just stupid. Nintendo forever, but Nintendo America needs new management for sure.

Not suprising....Its their fault for releasing a handheld with a shitty lineup with ONE thumbstick( in 2011 thats just fucking retarded) and then they try and release a peripheral that locks into the 3DS to create a 2nd thumbstick and its gigantic and looks like garbage...looks like the 3DS is getting raped by a piece of asphault....and for pretty much just giving up on the Wii thats what happens....ppeeaccee

@TheBiggamer64 yeah right. Nintendo is barely a part of gaming now. Its been a looooooong... actually i've NEVER seen a commercial for a nintendo game. Yet just yesterday i saw a mw3 commercial. Its been a long time since ive seen a wii commercial, probably a week since a xbox or ps3 commercial. Maybe gaming's over for you, but real gaming's still goin' unaffected.

I think you pretty much summed up every single bit of what my thoughts and views are on about Nintendo's MASSIVE FUCK-UP. But I really really really hope that they will bounce back up. They're too good of a company and if they're smart, they'll realize that they need to change. They do have Skyward Sword and the Wii U as well as a bunch of 3DS games. Here's to hoping that us Nerds, Nerdettes and Gamers can GAME THE FUCK ON with Nintendo once again.

They can't rethink their model so long as the same people remain in control. The 3DS is destroying them, they should have put it on the burner for at least another two years. Also their nonsensical hatred of 2D and allowing Sakamoto to go all Kojima with his waifu Samus aren't helping. GIVE SAMUS BACK TO RETRO

I can understand that Nintendo loses money mostly because of there Hardware but Software?
There are so much games Nintendo can port from Japan or release overall on there consoles to decrease the lost.
It is natural that a company makes losts over the years and still can live like nothing happen but I don't understand why Nintendo doesn't even try. Not only the games for Operation Rainfall...overall removing the region code would be nice and offering more games for the Vitual Consoles.

Once again, I cannot believe that Nintendo is so deep in the shithole right now. This is fucking absurd, how can Nintendo fuck up this hard!!?? I DONT GET IT! Nintendo should be up at the top of everything but their not because of so many reasons unfortunately. Instead their trying to be all independent and not follow suit to the raging titles that are out on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nintendo was in a rush trying to get their system out before the vita (then NGP). I dont think nintendo expected that the vita was in no way ready to release.

Ok nintendo is just being screwed over by other game companies because of stuff that they have invented, they made the first hand helds, the first 3d system (even though it failed it was ahead of its tie), they ade the first 64 bit console but then playstation had to go off of the genesis and make a disc game, and finally the wii was the first to use sensors, then ps3, then xbox, NINTENDO IS WHY WE HAVE COME THIS FAR, others steal from them and go one step further.

See I also think that with Unemployment and lay-offs, businesses shrinking and people not making as much money, maybe there isn't the same amount of money people have to spend on such games. Speaking only from personal experience, I can't afford a new console, or even games for them, seeing as cost of rent, food and other bullshit seems to be going up and up. Maybe my thought isn't the ONLY thing causing Nintendo to lose money, I love me some Zelda, but maybe it is a factor in this equation.

my wii is used for netflix now because after i finished all the good games like twilight princess which i beat twice during the first 3 weeks it was out and super mario galaxy 1 and 2 and sonic and kirby then i stopped buying wii games cause they all didnt intice me like the batman and dark souls and god of war did for ps3 we need games like those on the wii we can play them with the classic controller

@MobianTopFighter Super Mario 64 DS is a DS game that was first released in 2004. The only Mario Kart game coming to 3DS is Mario Kart 7 so I have no idea where you got the idea that they're remaking Mario Kart 64.

@MobianTopFighter Well I know for a fact that there is no such thing as Mario Kart 64 3D and that SM64DS is a DS game. Super Mario 3D Land isn't actually a remake either. It's a new game that is actually like the 3D console Mario games. It is called 3D Land because it is the first 3D Mario game on a handheld (not counting 64 DS since that was a remake), while Super Mario Land was the first 2D handheld Mario. It has more or less been confirmed that the next Zelda game for 3DS will be a new game.

battlefield 3, batman arkham city, cod mw 3, skyrim, halo 4, fifa 12, nba 2k12 biggest titles released only for ps3, xbox 360, and pc. it seems like the nintendo wii is left out. its because nintendo attracts younger gamers mostly. also, the graphics for the wii are not good at all. its like ps2/gamecube graphics.

This message is for CarnardP3....dude, I'm not talking graphics either. I'm talking incredible level design and good stories...all the games I mentioned have those in spades. So does alot of the stuff Nintendo has put out. I don't want to see them sink any more than any of my fellow gamers....but they've got alot of rethinking to do. I only purchased the WII for the VC....good games on it have slowed to a trickle...r they listening to the fans who are asking for more releases on it? I wonder...
