  • This is a huge influence on me when it comes to lyricism.

    And the music is fantasmic.

  • good song

  • The end breakdown of this song just gets me every time. I haven't listened to this album in some time, but I love it. Such good music.

  • When it comes to really well composed music. Underoath 2009 and before is best! But the new shit they have out now.. Horrible... I will never listen to that...

  • @WESTSIDEGENIUS

    hi Genius))

  • honestly, i think i like their newer stuff.

it's my own personal opinion so don't freak out on me, but i love the newer stuff.

these screams aren't as appealing to me.

  • every core band got their riffs from old underoath

  • @BeeTatty Nope, try Zao, Botch, You And I, Unbroken and Converge

  • i fucking love this album, from the album cover to the meaning every song in it

  • @2:36- melodic hardcore )-0 just like hopesfall

  • this just flows and is so raw!!!

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT @1:53

  • @santoow my absolute favorite part ever!

  • @santoow My fav part of the song...sooooo sick!

  • The ending guitar riff is so raw, I love the tone.

  • cool :)

  • Shame the Singer has to ruiin the great music.

  • I don't know a single band that played anything like Lost In the Sound of Separation.

  • @IAaAvicusINC listen to more crust punk then

  • In my opinion, best song on this album.

  • It's too bad Dallas isn't in the band anymore :(

  • haha there is onlly one dislike

  • also, and I say this just cuz I like mixing songs myself and such, ever since dallas left, UØ has had better quality songs mixing wise. In old underøath songs, the volume levels for the screaming was WAY too low, the clean singing was a little too low as well, the guitar, bass, and drums were at a good level, and the keyboard was wayyyyy up compared to everything else. don't get me wrong, I love old UØ just as much as new UØ but their old mixing just kinda bugs me a little :/

  • I like Dallas Taylor and all, but sometimes it sounds like he's not screaming right O.o... but nonetheless I still love UØ

  • underoath forever

  • This album was definitely an aesthetic gold mine. Spencer is one of my biggest vocal influences, but he's not enough to keep me listening to UO. the genre is oversaturated with very similar sounding bands now and I feel like UO got dragged out in the tide.

  • @KrustytheKiller u know that underoath with spencer is the biggest influence in the modern post-hardcore genre. new UO is always one step ahead.

  • @Makuz0r yeah i know they're a massive influence, but they aren't very original imo. they are pretty much at the front of post-hardcore, but theyre surrounded and followed by loads of similar sounding bands. i don't think theyre one step ahead at all, just very famous.

  • @KrustytheKiller it seems to me that there is so much new at every album they make. Maybe TOCS was their biggest collection of generic post-hardcore, but after Define the Great line they have really started to shine compared to other post-hardcore bands. Define the Great line was epic, LITSOS not so much, Disambiguation yes. IMO Disambiguation is their best work, epic mathcore sounds, Spencer's clean vocals, drums are indescribably awesome. Guitars could be better, but still. Disambiguation>else

  • @Makuz0r listening to disambiguation. it sounds decent so far. not missing aaron's vocals at all, i always prefered spencer's cleans. since TOCS, underoath have placed a massive focus on production, ambience and atmosphere imo, but seem, to their detriment, to pay less attention to harmonic structure. i agree there is much more to their music now than there ever was, but i'm not completely happy with the aesthetic they have assumed. btw is Illuminator meant to sound like the whole of LITSOS?

  • @KrustytheKiller Yeah, illuminator is the "safe track" of Disambiguation. Catch Myself Catching Myself, Paper Lung and My Deteriorating Incline are the best imo. I wasn't happy with LITSOS at all, but i can't describe the awesomeness of disambiguation

  • not bad, but with spencer in my opinion the bad is waaaay better off.

  • Underoath is still the shit. Back then and now. I love them :)

  • @HookedxAside1 their new shit sucks

  • aaron was soo wicked in this song :D

  • 3:01 - 3:27 is <3

  • Anyone who says Underoath used to suck, or used to be so awesome is just fucking retarded. I own every cd from Cries of the Past through Lost in the Sound of Separation, and guess what, it all kicks ass. Underoath is amazing through and through. If you actually cared about the message and content of their music, you might put your immature childish remarks aside and just appreicate their musical genius.

  • i agree with ya dude 130%

  • dude. everyone makes spencer look bad because he took dallas's place.

    dallas quit!

  • Dallas did not just quit. He was going through a tough time in life, a break up with a girl that he was in love with. The entire band including Dallas thought it would be in the best interest of the band for him to step out of the band. Don't think of it as him quitting or being kicked out, but as allowing Dallas to have some time to himself. He was entirely too depressed to continue. He later married the girl that he wrote several songs about. There is a lengthy interview on youtube about this.

  • i know. i was just summing it up into "he quit" or "left" lol.

  • umm bro youre right except for his gf died in a car crash that he caused..

  • Please watch the interview with Dallas. It is on Youtube and is about 4 separate videos. How is he married to the woman that died in a car crash? I've been listening to UnderOath since 1998. I've been to a UO show when Dallas was still the vocalist, some 8-9 years ago. Back then they toured in a maroon(-ish) van with the back seats taken out and a small white trailer. Trust me on this. No one died in COTP it is completely metaphorical. Anyways, just enjoy the good tunes!

  • i never said he was married to anyone.. i just said he killed his gf on accident

  • He never killed anyone. He wrote the songs about his ex-girlfriend, that he later married. He was going through a tough time with her. If you would watch the interview, or actually talk to Dallas, you would know what really happened.

I honestly don't know why KIDS are STILL saying she was killed. If they had half a brain to watch a damn video they would stop telling people "what they think" and start telling people what is a fact.

  • ahh. well thats what i heard. haha yeah i have not watched it. and oh yeah its definitely kids who still believe she was killed. just kids.

  • I'm certain of your age through your childish way of trying to make me believe something that is not factual. Your argument had no proof and yet you stood on it like dry cement. That is not what an adult would do, or at least an educated adult.

The old saying goes "It is better to be right and not saying anything then it is to be wrong and say something.".

My guess is you are 14 at the most. If you are an adult that would be hilarious, because education must be way underfunded where you are.

  • well dont be a dick just enjoy the music.

  • Comment removed

  • If you haven't watched the interview with dallas ON YOUTBE I suggest you watch it.. You are spreading false information. Please watch the video, kid. You most likely didn't even listen to UnderOath then.(Ten years ago you were probably 3)

I hate it when some remedial child thinks he knows more than everyone says something he has no proof of.

    "dumb butt" ROFL!

  • Also, I've been to an Underoath show, back in 2001 when Dallas was the vocals. Went to Denny's and they dropped my friend and I back off at home, since it was on the way to their next show and they needed directions. They toured in a maroon/burgandy van then.. Since then I have been to two other UnderOath shows. I've been going to shows since before you were born.

  • yea yea yeaaah lawlz i watcheded the vids kinda kool how it is all metaphorical, gatta have some skill to write all that stuff... man underoaths got a long story they went through alot...

  • and i was born before they came out

T_T im just lazy and didnt want to take the time to watch em xD

  • @wiidROOR true but he didn't break up with his girlfriend, she died in a car crash. that's why underoath later wrote "its dangerous business walking out your front door"

  • @elephantlove95 Watch the interview with Dallas on youtube. Then, come back and apologize like everyone else has. I have been listening to this band for 9-10 years. These songs were metaphorical and only are supposed to be taken in a metaphorical "I lost the love of my life forever" sense. She did NOT die. He IS MARRIED TO HER NOW.

  • @elephantlove95 Actually, I read that the title for that song came from the Lord of the Rings.

  • @wiidROOR I thought she had died in a car accident? I read that somewhere. Can you send me the interview or something? Or help me find it? hahaha.

  • @xSPLENDAx Just search "interview dallas taylor" on youtube. There are like 4 parts.

  • @wiidROOR Yeah, but Dallas' previous girlfriend that he was also in love with died via a car accident

  • @TehKrakerzGuy If you haven't watched the interview or if you don't know dallas then I suggest not comment. okay?

  • @wiidROOR He wouldn't write fucking songs about his girlfriend dying in a car accident from nothing.

  • @TehKrakerzGuy Are you too big of an idiot to understand what metaphorical means?

  • @wiidROOR Are you too much of an idiot with a big enough head to the point where you can't even explain yourself straight to someone?

  • @TehKrakerzGuy you could have researched on your own instead of blurting out idiotic misinformation. :) let me spoon feed you some more kid.

  • @wiidROOR Send me a message and link me the interview if you can.

  • @TehKrakerzGuy can I have it too please :)

  • @wiidROOR stupid ass scene bitch.

  • @BRADL3YKINSS trollololololol

  • @wiidROOR Where do you find this interview?! What is it called?! Can you send me a link?!

  • Dallas was much better :)P

  • this is when underoath was the shit

  • Fucking awesome

  • they changed the screamer? confused

  • This is Dallas Taylor, he was the original front man of Underoath before Spencer showed up. He is on this album, and their two previous albums: An Act of Depression, and Cries of the Past.

  • thts ur opinon but i like metal core

  • fail

  • kinda reminds of pink floyd, in the intro

  • how?

  • UNDEROATH FOR PRESIDENT!!

  • AMEN!

  • @mandii75reynosa awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwsome

  • k wait whos dallas ??

  • the first singer for the band

  • what happen to him?

  • i believe he left due to personal reasons or something...either way theres been like 3 singers so far for underoath so he's not the first to leave lol

  • no he is the first to leave and hes in a new band right now. it sounds nothing like this but it is still prety cool

  • sorry your right...i meant to type he's the first and not the last to leave...lol

  • Left due to depression over his girlfriend,..which is now his wife..kept writing stupid depression lyrics over her..maylene and the sons of disaster is the new band..only 2 singers ever in underoath.

  • i personally think spencer has more of an edge overall but there are some things that spencer couldnt even come close to doing that dallas did but spencer is great UØ4LIFE

  • I really dislike the "dallas vs spencer" arguement... ...they're both really good, with totally different styles. either way, Underoath is an awesome band and a lot of people (me included) love their music.

  • wrong... real underoath fans like dallas because he was in the band before they sold out and started making emo pop instead of hardcore music - a change brought on by spencer, whom i refer to as great band destroyer.

  • look its not something i get fired up about but yeah i cant stand dallas as a singer, the spencer and aaron combo is AMAZING. theres nothing pop about new underoath. i admit re-inventing your exit could maybe be leaning that away but apart from that (which isnt a bad song) the band has grown SO much for the better. i cant even listen to dallas.

  • you don't have to hate Spencer to be a real UØ fan

  • Of course Dallas is better... I mean check out his new band Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and how successful they are... haha (hopefully you can see the sarcasm in my post), point made?

  • Listen here assholes. Dallas was good, did he choose to leave I'm not sure. Is he good, yes. Is Spencer good, yes. He is not what is called (an immature reference) "A Great Band Destroyer". They do not make emo, pop music, rather than hardcore, they are metal. Aaron Gillespie still writes most of the lyrics, they are still metal. They have grown up, like many bands have, even Dallas isn't as hardcore, he started a southern metal band. Not as hardcore as he used to be. Everyone grew up unlike you

  • they are metal core and they are #1 on the top 100 screamo band charts, search it on google, you'll see......

  • they are metcalcore and screamo but they on the top 100 screamo band chart and they are #1 and i've been listening to screamo almost my whole life so stfu you dumb piece of dirty shit

  • listen to the song Its Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door and then skip to the part at 1:40 it's really good

  • they used to be metal back when they made cries of the past and act of depression

well if deathcore is considered metal that is

  • yea it was deathcore your right its not considerd metal

  • why is their a divergence between metal and hardcore? didn't hardcore spawn from metal? from what i know, deathcore is a subgenre of metalcore, which is a marriage between metal and hardcore, so in a sense its like half death metal and half hardcore.

  • haha I agree

  • actually hardcore spawned from punk... punk and metal are 2 separate entities but they have mixed before and alot of the genres are all mixed anyways... like thrash is basically hardcore and NWOBHM and then theres metalcore and deathcore and all that jive and grindcore and all that stuff so who knows anymore and who cares

    you like what you like

  • i'm a music noob; whats NWOBHM?

  • it stands for new wave of british heavy metal and its basically bands like judas priest, iron maiden, motorhead, venom, diamonhead, angelwitch ec...

just a bunch of old school heavy metal bands that basically influenced bands like metallica and what not

and its all good we were all new once

  • punk is actually considered a subgenre of metal by most people, but i agree they are different

  • Wat wud u call this then.

    i quite like this ALOT.

Its halfway between old and new which is pretty awesum cos otherwise they can b 2 opposites of the extreme. :) But i hav 2 say i luv all underoath songs really just h8 sum bits of the old and singing can b a bit gay in new.

  • idkk deathcore's more like... in the midst of lions, or with blood comes cleansing, not really underoath

  • Hahaha I couldnt agree with you anymore

    Dallas > Spencer!

  • Dallas is way better than spencer

i mean listen to this, then listen to that crap they play today.

    no contest

    Old underoath is the shit

  • 100% agree

  • Couldnt of said that any better

    :D

  • I agree, xmega45x.

  • i personally think spencer and dallas are both good, but spencer just doesnt have that death metal scream that dallas.

  • after what album did dallas leave?

  • changing of times

  • this one

  • Define The Great Line

  • grant used to swing his bass around like there was no tomorrow. ever since spencer came the band just isnt as crazy live as they used to be.

  • I still love them lol.... its hard to explain the feeling of and underoath concert.... cant be beat

  • great band great song

  • dallas takes shits on spencer

  • I think they are both really good...Spencer has a good regular sining voice and pretty good screaming 1. dallas might be a better screamer but spencer is a better musician

  • spencer doesnt scream... he shouts/sings

  • das ist einfach nur geil man

  • im surpised that when the sun sleeps is an old song with the old line up. i heard cries from the past..and honestly thought it was shit. and that song sounds like the newer stuff

  • scheiß Geil! kick ass

    fucking awesome!

  • he was in changing of times

  • this song is fucking awesome!

  • which UO cds was dallas taylor in? was it cries of the past and acts of depression? was he in the changing of times too?

  • who puts on a better concert: dallas taylor or spencer? i am hoping to see them in november, but wish taylor was still with the group

  • Spencer by far

  • yeah i just saw them last week, and they were awesome!

  • good beats

  • such a awesome song =D i mean =(

  • <3 I love this song!!! I love underoath forever <3

  • look them up.

  • yea i ahve cnt find n e

  • Yeah i figured by the way you spell

  • oh hahaha your so funny

  • Hahahahahahahahahaha

  • my fav is alone in december

  • definately the best underoath album ive listened to... and ive listened to all of em.

  • god i can't even listen to the new albums... i try but its shit I love the first two albums! i dont understand why they kept the name underoath they should be called overlie.

  • I completely agree with u!

  • I don't really like their first two albums that much. I like the post-hardcore Underoath better.

  • This is the only old underoath cd i have and in my opinion i think its the best one out of all of the old ones

  • real good song

  • i LOVE this song.

    <3

  • its amazing!
