There is both happiness and melancholy in this song.... it's amazing. When I listen to it, I see myself running with other kids through the playground, looking to the sky and seeing the space shuttle launch from Cape Canaveral. Epic childhood. Epic.
i really love the song and it does ignite something in mine. but i cant really understand why people disagree with 60 people not liking this song. id be more surprised if it had 0 dislikes. everyone is different. additionally there are 1.1 million views, so 60 of those decided to rate and rate dislike. pretty good going.
What an amazing song. Conjures up so many memories of youthful bliss and ignorance. I know the 60 people who disliked it - I met them at a 2 unlimited gig where Aqua were supporting
Truly these musicians are of a calibre seen far and few between. The type of transportive music that requires no collaboration with video. Its like watching a sunrise.
That is what is so amazing about Elbow, they can sing just as good live. They are up for a Brit Award for best band, hope everyone votes for them before February 21st!
I tend to not like indie music (whatever that title means), and most yawn inducing pop and hipster stuff that I hear. It just doesn't move me. But these guys do. They got it. "I never perfected that simian stroll." Great stuff.
@MaggotBrainBand if i wanted a lame comeback, i would have scraped it off your old girls saggy tits. stop rooting through last weeks posts and do something with your life, and your shit music
Beautiful. Makes me wanna savour every moment I have, make these days the Golden Days, not wish my life away. Thanks for writing this song. I'm gonna build a rocket and enjoy watching it fly, might even fly it to the moon or beyond. ;D xx
Came here on recommendation from a friend and I have to say that I'm really not a fan at all. Thumb me down all you like but the comments are a place for sharing opinions and this is my own. However I respect them as musicians and wish them all the best, it's just a little, "anthemic" for my tastes.
I never heard of this band until it took a stage at the Coachella Festival in California and I remember my first thought was, "Thank God! Talent just got here..." Got to see the guys again when they played the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco. What a pleasant discovery they have been. Sure wish our young musicians in the States were exposed to more acts like this than what they're being fed.
When I saw them at Leeds, Guy said that they released this song on the day of the riots in tottenham. He said this song is about remembering your childhood and remembering when you had an innocent mind and were yet to be subjected the the reality and harshness of life and the world. The song was released on the day when people needed to remember that the most. I guess people still need to remember that now
@rectumdilbert05 actualy the average age of the rioters was about 20-30. the media just publacised the riots younger memmbers because they made the message more poinient. the riots were not the work of youths but mid to grown adults.
this is real, proper, great music to proud that it comes from england, unlike a bunch of queer-looking lads running round a beach singing together (one direction)
I've been listening to Elbow for years now. Advice: listen to "The Bones Of You" off the seldom seen kid album. I listen to this in my car at full bass. It envelopes you. Also "friend of ours" off the selfdom seen kid album and "Scattered Black and Whites" off the Asleep in the Back album. YOU'RE WELCOME.
Wow! Fantastic! Who filmed this? I feel like I was on the stage and in the song. What kind of camera was used? Who did it? Brilliant! The sound and the video are a unique and powerful signature!
@clockworkaccordion The same thought occured to me . Something like "Walk across the rooftops" perhaps . There is definately Blue Nile type vocals / instrumental build to the song . Anyway both are fantastic .
utter beauty, and brings back amazing memories of Glasto 2011 :) what a sunset song!
