Time Warner Cable, TCI and ATT were the only providers that had Sega channel. I loved the service 14.99 cant beat that.

My parents didn't want me getting Sega Channel because I could rent games instead. They didn't seem to understand it was more expensive to rent from Blockbuster than getting 50 games for an entire month for $14.99... They eventually gave in and got it for me.. I still have the adapter. They never asked for it back. Its essentially a brick now but it's a nice collectors item.

Actually, there were also games that were exclusively on The Sega Channel. Then, there were games not exculively on The Sega Channel, but that kind of were, at least to me because I could never find those games in stores. One game in particular was a game called Awesome Possom Kicks Dr. Machineo's Buitt. I'm not kidding There was a game that was really called that. However, I could only play it on The Sega Channel because I could never find it in stores.

I enjoyed Sega Channel just as much as you're saying. I never stopped playing through. Golden Axe 2 was the shit, and I didn't even know it was the title. I also played Bevis and Butt-head, and yes, a pure classic. My parents would never let me buy it, but thanks to the sega channel. The game was hard for me, and I had to read up for codes....Epic.

Othergreat games I found was Jurassic Park and also the Rampage edition. The JP games were just as cool as Pitfall.

Bonkers Was on The Disney Channel. I used to watch it as a kid. Disney cartoons would air on like Channel 9 or something on Saturday morning back in the day.

Beavis and Butthead was a good game. Yes you would throw the rat into the deep fryer. The game story is that they had tickets to a GWAR concert and they got torn up and they had to go to different places in Highland to get pieces of the tickets. Beavis basic attack was to burp and buttheads basic attack was to fart.

AnotherDude26 The game you may be talking about is Babsy 2 music level search for Let's Play Bubsy the Bobcat 2 ep2 or you may be talking about Rister music level search for Ristar playthrough [Part 4] or you may even be talking about that 32X game called Tempo.

dougd1015 The RF connector that come with the Sega Channel had a slot that you screw your cable wire to. That's how your able to game and watch TV with out having to disconnect anything.

The other thing that I want to clear up is Bevis and Butt-head. Bevis and Butt-head for the Genesis is a completely different game than the weak SNES version. The Genesis one is basicly a platform puzzle game and its pretty good.

Ya the Sega Channel was awesome. I had the service all together for about 3 to 4 years. We had it for 2 years and then my mom stop paying for it. Then we got it back for about a year or so before the service was discontinued. Anyways I do want to clear up some misconceptions. When David is talking about games that had time limits on them he is referring to games in the test drive section. The test drive section would allow you to play games before they come out in stores.

In the game, I remember it was largely based around music, like pianos would fall on you and trumpets would attack you. There were pits with sharps in the bottom. Ringing any bells?

Top badass Sega Channel Games: 10: Golden Axe III 9: Earthworm Jim II 8: Road Rash III 7: Mega Bomberman (a BLAST with friends lol) 6: Light Crusader (predecessor to Diablo?) 5: Mortal Kombat series 4: Comix Zone 3: Shining Force Series 2: Phantasy Star Series (especially 4) 1: Shadowrun **** If you haven't played this game, even to this day, you're seriously missing out. This game was easily a decade ahead of it's time, and had the most immersive world ever seen in a game.)

sega always was the first to try cool stuff, the only problem is everyone else one uped them. but for the time being able to play a lot of game demos basicly, threw your cable was very cool, i had it for a couple of months, but i only got it to play mortal kombat 3 before it came out on the consoles.

I never had this service, but did play my friends Sega Mega Drive back in the day. Mortal Kombat II and III, and Sonic and Knuckles were the only titles i played on Sega Mega Drive. The Mega Drive is still a great system.

Size.... those games from sega channel where like 1megabit... i remember a game advertasing as: ONE FULL MEGABIT OF ACTION :p.... but these dayz... blu-ray discs for games? would talk a hole lotta time to download... if even possible in some country's.... in belgium we can only dload 30gig/month (with my provider)... so a blu)ray disc download :).... see :p

I remember Bevis and Butt-head. The story was, they wanted to go to a gwar concert. You had to collect ticket pieces all over the city. Burger world, The Hospital, The Mall, School, etc. My favorite memory from that game was in the hospital, riding the hospital bed down the hallway.

SEGA CHANNEL! I freakin' loved the sega channel! You could like browse the games and stuff it was pretty awesome but then again so is the Sega Genesis. I think the whole like Sega company liked died and the Genesis went out of style thanks to the Playstation 1. I still love the old Sega Genesis games like Shinning Force and Phantasy Star (which they put out on the GBA thank god!) But yeah Sega Channel rocked my socks!

I had forgot about Seaman and Sega Channel, I had a neighbor that had Sega Channel and everytime they updated new games, I'd stay at his house on friday nights (I was in school at the time!) and we'd try to beat them. Before watching this video, I've never heard of the Sega Channel before so I can't really comment on it. One thing I can agree with in this video is that the Power Ranger games were indeed awesome :D

I think i'm around the same age as you and I'm loving the series. I can distinctly remember getting an N64 with Diddy Kong Racing & Super Mario 64 for a birthday and playing them both to death.
