  • The false doctrine "God cannot look up sin" is in fact that, false. It's only a fraction of the passage, if you read the whole thing it states: "God cannot look upon sin without judging the unrepentant sinner" Jesus Christ was quoting Psalm 22:1 when he uttered > My god why have you forsaken me...To believe God really turned his back on Jesus for he could not look upon sin would mean Jesus was not God...so please correct this thinking. He quoted the psalm to show this prophecy was being fufilled

  • I hear this stated all the time from preachers, that God cannot look on sin.

Then how do you reconcile this statement with Job. God spoke face to face with satan, who is nothing but sin.

I think this is something said because it sounds good, but it's not accurate.

    Thoughts?

  • Saying new born babies are evil is one of the worst parts of your religion. I cant believe how sick and twisted you must be, to think innocent children deserve torture unless they are baptized.

  • You are incorrect. Judgment is according to knowledge. Those that know no evil are not judged but are innocent. Those that have done wrong must come to Christ for forgiveness

  • They know no evil? Original Sin (the sin which all humans are born with) is a large part of christian thought. It depends on your views, but if you take the bible literally, then anyone who dies before they are baptized are not saved. Of course, a lot of christians today would rather 'not think about the question'. As I'm sure as the case with you.

  • Yes everyone is born in sin but that does not mean infants that die on early age will go to hell. Bible teaches that sin is revealed by the law and there is a law that say "thou shall not steal" then when we steal sin is revealed. As infants cannot understand the law at a young age they will not be held accountable by the law for their sin. Baptism is an acknowledgment that oneself repents for their sins and in the bible was done on people of mature age to understand what this means.

  • Surely you aren't saying God can only tell if someone is a sinner by actions? As you said before, he judges on knowledge. If a baby is born with this knowledge inside it, and never repents for it (baptized), then he goes to hell. Unless you have another explanation? (that last question is not intended to sound belligerent, sorry that it does!)

  • What child is born with knowledge? The bible clearly shows we do not inherit sin when it comes to judgment (Ezekiel 18:20). All children are innocent as they cannot break a law they do not know (I John 3:4). The born in sin doctrine simply means that if we where in Adam shoes in the garden of Eden then we too will commit the same mistake so none can claim to be more righteous over another. The original sin doctrine intention is to humble oneself and not for condemnation.

  • I'm afraid your views do not agree the christian population at large, nor so they with the literal word of the bible. The passages you provided are direct contradictions of other passages (Romans 5:12 for example). As you see, this sin is hereditary. The creators of protestantism stated it themselves blatantly.

  • I'm afraid you have either been taught wrong or interpreted wrong. Who cares what the "creators of protestantism" stated? Christians take the Bible as their word, not mans. Or did you miss that part?

  • Original sin is clearly described in the bible (Romans 5:12, among many others). Every major form of christianity adopts the concept. Regardless, Christians do NOT take the bible as set word, otherwise they would not go to church, and pray in private (as Jesus himself commanded).

  • It does not say that the original sin is passed on. It says because all men HAVE sinned, death is the consequence. How could a newborn have sinned? The word for sin has the morphemes that indicate that ALL men have sinned, not that ONE man sinned and thereby condemned us all.

  • Amen

  • christians are ignorant and dangerous.

  • How are we dangerous? Have you ever been beaten up by one because you believed differently than they did?

  • Christians, Jews and Muslims are dangerous because they pollute the minds and hearts of the young with guilt and delusion. There is no sin and no one needs redemption. The idea of redemption comes from an ancient fear of a god who is anthropomorphic, and displays the worst of human attributes. Forcing theistic religion on the young is child abuse.

  • Is it holding people accountable for their actions or the idea of serving others that falls under child abuse?

Have you ever participated in any of these religions?

As for the mentioning of anthropomorphism goes, I don't believe that the Bible demonstrates God displaying the worst of human attributes. However, it is probably because I am ignorant of what you would consider the "worst of human attributes". Could you help me out there?

  • But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.ISAIAH53:5,6

  • In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.

Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

  • Save me from bloodguilt, O God, the God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.

O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.

The sacrifices of God are [c] a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

  • Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.

  • Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.

Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

  • Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge. Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Surely you desire truth in the inner parts [a] ; you teach [b] me wisdom in the inmost place.

  • Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
