im thinkin about sellin my 2 brutus 12s and getting 1 of these q 18. i have a brutus 1200.1d amp wich is cea rated 1200rms. and i think its under rated yet but what do you think? im sure it will hit lower and harder

@HypnoK1438 yes the foam is very delicate to tear up by s screwdriver while screwing or unscrewing and the cardboard cone if you get it wet it will inflate by slit pieces if i were you i put audiobahs or JL grills to protect the subs even though the foam and cardboard subs are even louder than the plastic cone's especially these days................i already had a accident with my quantum audio cozmik series....i hope it never happens to your Fi......

@bmx14x93 no. the most basic way to look at it is to see which pushes more air. 2 10" subwoofers have a total surface area of about 158 sq in. where as a single 18" woofer has about 255 sq in. So 2 10" subs would only have 62% as much area as one 18". However, that is without looking at the third dimension, Excursion. but you'd be hard pressed to find 10" subs with enough excursion to make up for the difference in surface area.

Formula:

Radius squared, times pie (3.14) = surface area

@bmx14x93 The bigger the sub the more BOOM you will get in simple terms. The smaller the sub the punchier it is. So it really depends on what sound you are going for. This was what was explained to me anyway.

The box can change a woofer to sound "boomier" or "lower" if tuned properly... but in the correct size box for the woofer size, bigger ones will go lower and smaller ones will punch.

What I mean by "tuned properly" is that it will play ALL of the bass notes, not just a few. There are boxes made just to hit 40Hz and thats it. It sounds like JUNK on 99% of music, unless it has that exact note... and even then it is just louder.

Try and sell that amp on Craigslist and move up to a AQ1200d. You can get them for $230 shipped now that they are on sale and they do about 400 more clean watts than the Hifonics. I aint feeding you bull, I can just tell that the Q is asking for a lot more. You got the BP too so you should def. hit it up man.

I dont know for sure but I would say definitely not if you had your gain and boost set correctly and didnt get too greedy with it and push a clipped signal at high wattage to it. Just my opinion.
