how is the engine right now. im going to volunteer in the spring to help restore the 587. ps. when it is restored i will pay $100 just to blow the whistle a bit.

587 cannot attend ANY steam convention because shortly after she was being inspected CSX tore up the switch and refuses to replace it, or give us track rights. I do volunteer at the ITM, and it will be until late 2010 or spring 2011 until she is running again!

what about the tracks up north. do they stop anywhere.

Technically, no, they don't. But, Right in the heart of tipton is a crossing that is filled in so obviosly we can't go through there. NS operates just north of that crossing and uses that track as covered hopper storage. It would take a lot of convincing to NS to move those hoppers around and fix the crossing. And, even if they do move the hoppers out, we will not be able to use those tracks in the late summer when the harvest comes in and those tracks are packed.
