As an American is is rather fun to see how the Aussie's see American food. I agree with JustinCase who states that this isn't really a good representation. But rather like trying to do African or South American, how do you fit an entire continent and all its cultures of food into a short TV show? We may be one political entity but we represent a mind-boggling number of cultures and sub-cultures. I'm from the Pac NW and the fish tacos are the only food they speak of here that we regularly eat.
This isnt really a great representation of USA cuisine. Im from the south in the states and this is very very opinionated. Grits are not as big as the man made them to be. they're quite nasty to be honest. And BBQ's are not planned that far ahead really. Yeah, if you want traditional pulled pork or BBQ smoked, you need 12-14hrs. but typically you pop it on the smoker for 4-5hrs and ur done. Im protective of my american cuisine! sorry! Fish Taco's are not traditional american either.
whole hog bbq, cornbread with cracklins, grits, fish tacos, apple dumplings, turkey, greens........reminds me i have no excuse for settling for a drive-thru combo meal.
While I thought I understand that you need to go to a country to taste the food at its best; I understand now that I didnt. Now that I get to watch my home cooking getting critiqued in another country I get it. I won't say this food tastes bad, but it doesn't look good and these restaurants wouldn't do well in the US....at least so far hehe. Thanx for these vids. I am addicted to this show now.

If you mixed a dry rub with bbq sauce in the southern USA they would beat you stupid. It's either bbq sauce or a dry rub with a mop.
