And then they're just going to trash the "old" jets, even though they STILL are okay. When you're in a war, it doesn't matter WHAT you're flying, as long as it works.
The fact of the matter is it's not that we WANT new fighter jets, it's that we NEED new fighter jets. The F-18's are at the end of their lifespan, a lifespan which has been prolonged by the expertise of Canadian Forces engineers and technicians. But their time is almost up. The bottom line is that if Canada wants to have any chance of maintaining air superiority in a field of operations (Including peace keeping and conflict resolution, aka Libya) we need these jets.
I need someone to explain to me, how else are we going to build up or national defenses or our we just going to sit behind the cover of the Americans?
Stephen Harper and Conservative party brought Canadians back to 150 billion dollar debt and who puts a lawyer Jim Flaherty in charge of Minister of Finance. We should start paying lawyers to do are yearly income taxes and finance are money, let’s see how that would work. Smart Canadians
Wow! A propaganda video!!! Good job comrade, perhaps we can practice goosestepping and discuss the redistribution of wealth as we line up for toilet paper.
I think we should spend more than 16 Billion on Canadian Aerospace technology some where in General just not on the f-35 contract. We should be spending that money in domestic aerospace innovation projects, and we should start from the bottom up, and try to engineer technology only tantamount to extraterrestrial technology. ( I'm not even kidding)
Conservatives (Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell): $42 billion deficit. Result: 1993 Election. The Liberals, led by Jean Chrétien, won a strong majority in the House and formed the next government of Canada. Conservatives suffered the most lopsided defeat for a governing party at the federal level and managed to hold only 2 seats in the parliament.
Liberals (Jean Chrétien, Paul Martin): $12 billion surplus.
@mzadeh100 I've been trying to point this out to as many people as I can. Liberals need to put this out on a billboard, TV, Radio, sides of Busses, stickers on bananas........

And Harper will station the jets at Canadian Air Force bases, some of which are near cities. Fighter jets near our cities. I am not making this up. *
*the proceeding comment was intended as satire in reference to the Liberal's idiotic assertion that the Conservatives had plans to station soldiers in Canadian cities. Of course, that's where the bases and training facilities are. Liberal scaremongering -if that's what you call this- is childish and transparent. You don't fool us Ignatieff,
The harper government has failed to be accountable to the Canadian people.
Well the government agencies commit Breach of Trust ,the Tory ministers also, respond with misrepresention of facts which are both are listed in the Crime code of Canada as fraud crimes. They will take one code of the act and do away with it and kept all the others ,which is list as an act against the people. When asking the ministers to look in to the amount of abuse they refuse. Fundamental Justice is lacking.
We need these jets. Also message to you liberals no one will vote if you have comments set top pending approval becasue then you don't beleive nin the freedom of speech. Just please stop thios foolish stuff.

better by them from china hahaha....much cheaper like staff in Dollarama....
nothing is killing us than car insurrance in toronto...so far not a federal or provencial politician can talk about this subject.....quebec and alberta are save from this insurrance train manger.....
so besides complaining about this jet why don't we just build OUR OWN canadian made jets, tanks, and navel ships? better yet, how about we remake, remastered, and up to date avro arrow? or, how about WE ARE NOT POLITIANS so if you are all pissed off...VOTE!!!!!!!!!
These jets are said to be a real underperformer in every single aspect. These aren't a true stealth capable like the F-22, easily detected by the AWAC system, I heard it's slow, and sluggish.
In my opinion the only desirable character of the F-35 is the model that can take-off vertically, since a lot of countries operates the smaller helicopter carriers like the French Misteral class, or the JMSDF's Hyuga. No other countries other than Canada is really placing any orders on this turkey.
Those jets are designed to have first strike capability. That's great, if what you want to do is bomb a city at night. And the'll never even know what was coming. That's why the US wanted them (before they put the contracts on hold). But why would Canada want that kind of jet? What we need are DOUBLE engine jets. Because if on engine breaks down while their are surveying the arctic, then our pilots can make it back home.
We're spending $16 billion to escort flights back to the airport everytime a drunk passenger acts up. Thumbs up Mr. Harper, can't think of a single place we could use that money (sarcasm)

It's my understanding that these are short range jets. If that is correct, that does not make sense for a country this size.
