Yes; Robert, Pagey, Jonesy and John Bonham... contributed so much to rock, and its advancement. In the 1970's, as I believe John Paul Jones remarked, there were 'none like us'; meaning that, after the great revolution (musically) in the later 60's, and all the advancements of that day, rock really slowed down - with the exception of a number of bands, one of which was Led Zeppelin!
Robert has had huge successes as a solo artist "Shine it all around" is amazing. His duets with Alison Krauss are stunning. He is always curious and experimental and this shows and makes him so fascinating - he is also so sexy, I am nearly fifty and have been in love with him since I was 15 years old! Please keep entertaining us - we love you x
What a musical genius!!! I absolutely adore Robert Plant. Always have, always will.
He's just adorable & has one of the most unique voices ever. When you hear him you know it's him in an instant. No, "hmmmm.....who is that? That voice sounds familiar." Hell no...you KNOW it's Robert Plant & he is wonderful.
Carry on without John Bonham??!! Of course, they could have, but it wouldn't have been the same Led Zep anymore. Bonham was a HUGE part of why Zeppelin sounded the way they did.
@ronbronb....you're confusing Robert Plant with Lou Gramm. same curly blonde hair, but Robert's ENGLISH and was in Led Zeppelin. Lou Gramm is AMERICAN and was in Foreigner.
My only inspiration is his music. Why need any other inspiration? He has done it all, from many countries facross the world. He has done deep south blues from the states. He has done African tribal music. He has done sounds from Kashmir (he literally went there). He has been to Egypt, Timbuktu, Morocco, Kashmir, India, England (of course), Germany, America, Mexico, Japan, China, Taiwan, etc. He has sampled music from almost every country and succeeded greatly. He will never be overdone.

no one would have have ever heard of him if it wasn't for a guy with a guitar called Jimmy Page. Plant is the greatest singer OK but that alone doesn't amount to the success he was able to achieve through his bandmates in LZ!
I dunno. His talent would have definitely led him somewhere. But that word I used, "Led", that was his comfort :). Without Led Zeppelin, I fear you would be right.
You could say I know him and Logan pretty well. Both are brilliant musicians. Both have that knit and grit. Logan CAN sing what his father sang in the seventies but chooses not to. He knows his father will one day leave behind this great legacy that I believe will linger on through the millenia. To this day there has not been a rocker with this much influence on so many. His range will never be challenged. There will be some with high ranges, but none with the same rock sound at a high note.
@mileswarm I'm so glad that Plant has been able to do as he pleases. Jagger and Daltrey never could give up their day jobs. Plant has always had the oppurtunity to do Zeppelin again and again and again and has done it three times since 1980 and always for a charitable or a special event.
Just appreciate these guys are even still interested in doing any new music they been hitting it since the 60's for god's sakes the fact that they are still with us is a gift
Yeah, but what you will see in the tour will not be Led Zeppelin. Without Plant it won't be.
Who will they choose for vocal? some crazy Dead Metal or black Metal ass bastard? There's no longer Rock n' Rollers with Plant's class, believe me! they should cancel the tour and the album, it's crazy and insane, they will ruin Led Zeppelin's name!
It's funny seeing him this way. It's weird realizing that after he formed modern rock music as we know it, he went along with the bad trends of the 80s as well instead of staying with what was good.
Robert Plant is amazing!!!! Too bad he hasn't really did many things with Jimmy and John Paul :( They make magic when they are together. But he's still good by himself. Better than nothing!! LOVE YOU ROBERT!!!
Yeah. In Playa del Carmen, which is on the Yucatan Peninsula, and once in China.
What inspired those performances?
Vodka. In China it's a big deal, so I said, "Let me do 'It's Now or Never,' by Elvis, so I can really bring the house down!" But this guy from Taiwan was better than me. He did "Tie a Yellow Ribbon," by Tony Orlando and Dawn. When he was done I thought, "Fuck me!" I was outdone by a Taiwanese guy singing Tony Orlando.

He's one of the few people in show business who can comment upon himself intelligently without trying to make himself sound like the god of his own universe. Maybe this is how he's managed to remake himself for so long without forgetting who he was at the same time. For those who want to slam him for moving on from the Led Zep era: imagine how tiresome and sad he'd be if he just sat on that success for the rest of his life.
I love this album..and his solo stuff is generally fab..not sure about the Alison Krauss stuff find it a bit dull but fair play to him for doing it and something new..
I can understand that they couldn't continue as a band. Lets face it the greatist all around band ever had died out.
due to unfortunate deaths and drug uses.
Im sure that all of us would like to be in 1973 the fucking awsome world record show but its now 2008 and now theres this thing called youtube that i ecpape from 2008 and go back them at there prime. Led Zeppelin was falling apart anyway before Bonhams death....
Plant completely changed when Zeppelin ended. In my opinion, (and im pretty sure a few other people's opinions) he is garbage on his own. Im not saying it's him particularly, but mainly his "new" style. Damn Phil Collins ruined him! lol He shoulda sticked closer to his main style but he COMPLETELY drifted from it.
But I agree with the guy about Jimmy Plant whoring out Led Zeppelin. A f****n remake of Kashmir with P Diddy. THAT CRAP SUCKED!!!
anyways I agree with you .. I mean teaming up with phil fucking collins??? robert's music after led zeppelin sounds like shitty pop , not even good pop.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
okay seriuosly this pisses me the fuck off... zeppelin died when bonham did and they should have all sat back and embraced their legacy.... instead robert plant went on to discrace the epic name of LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN. i mean come on. fuck.
I agree 100 precent with you about Zeppelins legacy ending after Coda, but i disagree wholeheartedly about robert plant. Jimmy Page (the owner of all the masters and rights) has sold out led zeppelin SO MUCH during the years. Jimmy Page has whored out Led Zeppelin, while Robert Plant has only dwindled out in a folk solo career. Let him be.
man the 80s were terrible in every way

It's not simply THAT he put those different musical elements together, It's the WAY.
The problem I have with Mighty Rearranger is turning it off. I'm deeply affected it.

Exactly...they all have so much to offer individually outside of the chemistry that happened between.
His mark in music goes beyond Led Zeppelin, and I for one, am grateful for that.

I love this album..and his solo stuff is generally fab..not sure about the Alison Krauss stuff find it a bit dull but fair play to him for doing it and something new..

Robert Plant has had a far more fruitful post Zep career than Page.

i think they ended at the right time
80's Zeppelin would have sounded very different
their last album had a lot of synthesizer on it
i dont think people would have liked that
at least not the old fans

robert was about to drop out jimmy was nearly dead and john also was going through tough times. its actually very sad to see them like that.
But the name Led Zeppelin will go down in history as the number one band ever until the end of time.

"Led Zeppelin will go down in history as the number one band ever until the end of time."
They *already* sound extra goofy.

JERRYisBANKSY 3 years ago
jimmy PAGE played with p diddy.. that was awful.
anyways I agree with you .. I mean teaming up with phil fucking collins??? robert's music after led zeppelin sounds like shitty pop , not even good pop.

okay seriuosly this pisses me the fuck off... zeppelin died when bonham did and they should have all sat back and embraced their legacy.... instead robert plant went on to discrace the epic name of LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN. i mean come on. fuck.
RoboJesus23 3 years ago
I agree 100 precent with you about Zeppelins legacy ending after Coda, but i disagree wholeheartedly about robert plant. Jimmy Page (the owner of all the masters and rights) has sold out led zeppelin SO MUCH during the years. Jimmy Page has whored out Led Zeppelin, while Robert Plant has only dwindled out in a folk solo career. Let him be.
