  • bacteria in the flu eh? is that why its called the flu virus doctor?

  • This is great information! It would be great if you could have computer graphics to display what you are describing. Thanks for the info.

  • I'll floss. seriously.

  • She's completely correct and utterly condescending....

  • Floss people! Be grateful you don't have to floss with braces like me. It takes 10 minutes for me, and even though it's a pain, I keep on doing it when I see all the food (especially meat) that gets stuck in my teeth.

PS -- quit hitting on the dentist!

  • @QofLife69 Put your penis away ron jeremy.

  • @HigherPlanes i cant :'(

  • then again i don't eat or drink a lot of garbage. on a side note, does anyone else think its cute when she says bone?

  • i dont floss and i havent gone to the dentist in 10 years. my teeth are hardly even sensitive. you don't need to floss. i use that part sticking out at the end of the toothbrush and push in-between a few teeth when i brush

  • If you enjoy periodontal disease don't floss.

  • i completely agree about wanting to floss. I LOVE it now. so funny.

  • @jazzplayer9 yes don't eat crap. specifically, native folks don't eat wheat and dairy

  • Flossing with braces takes 30 minutes.

  • "it tries to fight them, like any bacteria your body comes in contact with".

    Doctor? Really?

  • i flossed while watching!

  • @bradtube1 you rock!!

  • I like the doctors with dental advice, how they always have good teeth and don't have braces. Very different to eye doctors.

  • Yep, definitely a wake up call in all it's gory details!

  • Great advice about flossing, a few years ago I made the effort to floss every day and it definitely makes a difference.

  • I have a Braun electric tooth brush with the irrigator deal. I'll brush and rinse and think I got everything and sure enough I'll usually see 3 food particles wash out into my sink. I go through 2 tanks of water with a little peroxide and after I started doing that a couple years ago it would be hard to go to sleep knowing there are more than likely a couple food particles between my teeth inviting bacteria colonization.

  • Do you have suggestions for whitening sensitive teeth? I've been using a whitening toothpaste for a year now and haven't noticed anything significant. A video on teeth whitening would be nice, too. :)

  • 1 - Watch the video and learn something you didn't know.

2 - Enriched by that newly acquired knowledge, be a smart aleck with the other commenters.

    3 - ???

    4 - Profit!

  • I floss. But still sometimes find blood in the sink.

  • I think I know what flossing is, but a little description would have been nice.

  • Thank goodness for essential oils and hydrogen peroxide (aq). Oil pulling FTW!

  • @chiyerano I find that the longer I oil pull, the less time I have to spend flossing. I just brush to massage my gums. It's amazing what a mixture of peppermint, spearmint, clove, coconut, and sweet almond oils can do along with hydrogen peroxide. Good stuff.

  • @chiyerano Oil pulling doesn't work. You know what does? Brushing your teeth, ...which is usually what you do after swooshing oil around in your mouth. lol The more you oil-pull, the more you brush. Oil-pulling is really a dumb practice.

  • @extion I've been oil pulling for awhile now and my gums have responded very well, better than they ever did when I was using commercial toothpaste and mouthwash, so speak for yourself. I find that the more I oil pull, the less I have to brush, so again, speak for yourself. I only wish I had started oil pulling much earlier than I did, I could have saved myself a lot of the damage done when I was brushing with commercial toothpaste and mouthwash.

  • @extion I think brushing with commercial toothpaste and rinsing out with commercial mouthwash is a dumb practice, not to mention potentially dangerous. I'll take essential oils over commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes any day.

  • @extion Plus, just brushing alone isn't enough to get rid of all the food and plaque particles that may be trapped between the teeth and around the gum line, or enough to get rid of the unpleasant smell that may be coming from your oral cavity. Also, many commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes tend to be very hard on the gums and simply don't protect very well against tartar deposits and gum disease. Yet dentists want you to keep using these products so that you can keep coming to them.

  • @chiyerano lol, not everything is a conspiracy. Look, if you just buy any "commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes", then that's your fault. You need to look for the seal of approval by your country's dental association (CDA or ADA). If the product is not approved, you won't see the seal on the product. And, if you actually care about your oral hygiene, you should buy those things. ...does your cooking oil come with that seal? Didn't think so. Trust science, not quackery.

  • @extion Whatever, the toothpastes and mouthwashes I was using DID have the seal of the country's dental association and only served to do more harm than good for my gums. Oil pulling on the other hand, appears to be working for me, much better than those toothpastes and mouthwashes with the seal of approval from the country's dental association. I actually do care about my oral hygiene which is WHY I no longer spend money on these so called dentist approved products you talk about.

  • @extion I have met people who have perfectly healthy teeth and gums and yet they don't even have a toothbrush or even floss, and they certainly didn't use these products with the seal of approval by some country's dental association which you talk so much about. Since you mentioned 'science', you should know that many oils have scientifically been proven to have naturally antibacterial properties, some even have anti-inflammatory properties, as well as anti-microbial and anti-viral properties.

  • @extion These properties of the oils along with their ability to get underneath the gumline and in between the teeth are what make oil pulling so useful in treating, if not preventing, gum disease. I didn't find that brushing with CDA or ADA approved toothpastes or mouthwashes were quite able to have the same effect, as their effects were only temporary, whereas the effects of the oils were more lasting. I'm going to have to go with my experiences over your opinion here and stick with the oils.

  • @extion Plus, at least I can safely swallow and eat my cooking oil, unlike most toothpastes and mouthwashes with the so called seal of approval from the CDA or ADA.

  • @chiyerano So, what does that have to do with anything? I mean, if anything, you just support my point. Oil isn't going to do anything but, possibly, FEED the bacteria in your mouth. lol Whereas mouthwash is designed to KILL those bacteria.

  • @extion My point is that oil does kill bacteria and actually has a longer and more beneficial effect on the overall cavity than the toothpastes and mouthwashes with the seal of CDA or ADA approval ever does. As one of my earlier chemical engineering professors said, toothpastes and mouthwashes are little more than just 'particles' that have only a temporary effect in making your teeth seem cleaner than they actually are. The effect of oils last longer.

  • @extion I, unlike you, simply do not feel like wasting any more money on a bunch of man made particles that simply don't do my gums any good. Oils are relatively inexpensive and much more effective in killing bacteria without harming gums. Even some dentists themselves would suggest that people are better off just rinsing their oral cavity out with salt water rather than rinsing out with many of the mouthwashes with the so called seal of approval of the CDA or ADA.

  • @chiyerano You're a liar. No dentist would say such a thing, because it's wrong. Mouth wash kills bacteria. Warm salt water is used for bleeding gums. Point to ONE dentist that suggests using salt water instead of mouthwash. I'm sorry to say this, but you're borderline retarded at this point. Listen, you're wrong, get over it.

  • @extion Unless you've actually done oil pulling for at least 6 months to a year, you don't really have a valid opinion on this matter. It is generally understood that SUGAR feeds bacteria. Sugar is a part of the carbohydrate group while oils are a part of the FATS group. If you can't even tell the difference between these two macronutrients, don't bother mentioning them as you've long since lost credibility

  • @chiyerano Well, unless you've actually gone to medical school for at least 6 years, you should keep your mouth shut on this matter. All you're doing is spreading misinformation. You're not even a nutritionist. How can you give advice on oral hygiene. I wish Dr. Emily Craft here could tell you how there's no evidence that oil pulling works, ...but if she did, I'm sure you'd think it was some huge conspiracy. lol

  • @extion Are you a doctor or nutritionist?? Even if you are a doctor, you still wouldn't know anything about nutrition judging from some of your earlier comments so why don't you shut your own mouth on the matter and just talk about what works for YOU personally just as I was doing before you so rudely replied to me. I am just saying what works for me.

  • @extion Do us all a favor and just talk about what works for you. You'll get a lot further that way. What you're doing right now just looks like little more than some form of harrassement for which I could use as a reason too start taking steps to close down your account.

  • @extion I use hydrogen peroxide for the same reason.

  • @extion Some dentists already sell bottles of oils for oral hygiene on the market. That's where I got the idea to look into oil pulling and making my own mixture of oils for oral hygiene inexpensively and effectively in the first place. So far so good. Experience trumps opinion everytime.

  • @chiyerano ...which is exactly why you fail. Mind telling me which dentist sold you oil for oral hygiene? And, what's the name of the product they gave you? ...that's right, you're a liar. And that's not just my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • @extion You've been failing ever since your first reply to me but I've learned to be patient even with idiots such as yourself.

If you really want to know which dentists sell bottles of oil just look them up. You can easily find them all over sites such as Amazon(dot)com.

  • @chiyerano Look, the ONLY good thing to come out of oil pulling is that fact that you're "massaging" your gums while swishing the oil around. Then, there's the fact that you have to brush and rinse your mouth afterward. THAT'S IT. You're no detoxifying, or pulling cavities out, nor is it better than using mouth wash. You are MISINFORMED. Stop spreading lies and educate yourself on the matter. If it actually worked, dentists would bottle their own oils and sell it to you, and it'd be approved.

  • @extion You've totally missed the point of why I oil pull in the first place. I don't oil pull to 'detoxify', I oil pull as a way to get the oil to stop bacterial activity and infections underneath and around the gumline and so far I am having success in undoing some of the dammage done over the years when I was brushing with 'CDA or ADA' approved toothpaste & mouthwashes.

  • @extion And you're an idiot who is not really saying anything.

  • @chiyerano Prove me wrong. Tell me, please, what's the name of the dentist that has suggested using salt water instead of mouthwash. And, what is the brand name of oil that is being sold by dentists. If you can provide me with an answer, I will admit defeat in this discussion. Otherwise, STFU.

  • @extion Look it all up if you really want to know and quit harassing people and STFU. If you haven't tried it, STFU.

  • @extion You have long since been defeated. You know this. The information can be found everywhere all you need do is get up and look into it yourself. I want to see you work to find this info just as I did. I am not going to just hand it to you.

  • @extion I never claimed that oil pulling does anything for cavities or detoxifies, you were the one that mentioned all th

at so you're the one who has to explain why you mentioned them in the first place. I was only speaking for myself in that for my purposes, oil pulling works in helping to maintain gum health. That is all. No proof necessary on my part.

  • @extion If you want to keep using commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes and possibly place yourself in constant need of the care and attention of a dentist or oral hygienist, be my guest. As for me, I'm sticking with essential oils along with good nutrition. This seems to go a lot further in maintaining dental health than brushing alone ever does based on my experience.

  • this is good stuff...should have added some graphic pictures in between the discussion

  • floss this year? how condescending

  • How much floss should you use? I use usually about around 1m length of floss, because don't like re-using used sections. Also, how is it that it only takes you 30s to floss, it takes me at least 5 mins.

  • @juicebowl Umm.. Have you EVER been to the dentist? When they floss your teeth, it takes about 30 seconds. You don't have to go digging in between each tooth. Just a quick swipe to be sure nothing is lodged in between your teeth. Flossing too much (or for too long) will damage your gums.

  • Lets talk about Ankylosing Spondylitis. I developed this horrible illness back in 2001 after receiving major dental work. 6 of my teeth were replaced with silver backed teeth that leak mercury into my bloodstream causing AS. Look it up. Also This woman pushes Flouride(Another deadly poison!!) Its a byproduct of fertilizer that cannot be dumped anywhere except toothpaste and our water supply...

  • good talk though, very informative. needless to say I'll be flossing a bit more regularly

  • My husband has flossed one time since I met him in 1983. He only brushes when he feels like it for about 30 seconds and his toothbrush is mangled because he pushes so hard. He goes to the dentist about once every 10 to 20 yrs and they always tell him he takes real good care of his teeth and keep it up. He never gets cavaties. (he drinks fruit juice and soda etc.) I floss and brush and eat better and I always have at least 5 cavities. But he has enamel and I don't so I think that's part of it

  • this doesn't explain however how hundreds of native tribes that have great teeth and gums and no dental plan... just don't eat crap.. simple

  • @jazzplayer9 Yeah well tons of tribes don't use deodorant and the women don't wash their crotches either but its certainly not optimal. lol

  • @2003SCT I wasn't saying it's optimal to not floss, or brush your teeth, or use soap, or use deodorant. But to make the assessment that gum disease in this country is do to bad dental hygiene in false.

  • @jazzplayer9 do you actually know of any research that confirms that tribals have healthier teeth than we do?

  • @fikujez watch?v=XPCOGSnjP5w

  • @fikujez Yeah the Weston A. Price foundation has done historic research in this area. They traveled across the world and documented the native cultures teeth and there's alot of pictures...

  • @jazzplayer9

They ate crap too. Native Americans in the 1800s don't eat vegetables, drink milk, OJ, or bread. Most of their food is fatty buffalo, along with sometimes deer.

  • @jazzplayer9 that is soo true! i once visited a village in ghana and was shocked how white their teeth was compared to moi who constantly brushes with "paste" which according to the tv is suppose to help my teeth!

  • i love flossing it feels good

  • I said "gargle" HP....not drink it...I guess the dentist is too busy to reply to comments or maybe she cant talk about flouride? if flouride was helpful it should be easy to point to a study that shows this? Am I wrong?

  • WOW. This video is right on time. I just went to the dentist this week and got the flossing lecture. I now have a better understanding of dental/oral health. Thanks PsychTruth!

  • Then why are entire countries in Europe removing the flouride from their water supply?-ignorance?....my question is if hydrogen peroxide is safe to gargle with and what are its effects?

  • @6string1 Um... because people consume enough flouride through other measures? You shouldn't drink pure hydrogen peroxide, lol. No I'm serious.

  • This is a very scary video!!!!!

  • WOW, I wish I had a dentist that looked like that!!!!

  • i really wish my dentist explained the "why" like you did when I was a kid...instead they just say "you should floss"...leaving one to think it might not be that big a deal not to floss...If your videos were required viewing in elementary school you might be out of a job

  • liking ur video!!

  • i started brushing and flossing after she was talkin about the bacteria creeping deeper >.>

  • Using peroxide also helps to rid of bacteria.

  • The bowen

  • This tooth dentist is every good at explaining what we need to know and to follow to take care of our tooths.

  • if my dentist looked like you i would have the cleanest teeth ever! :P

  • thanks,

  • yes flossing really matters... gotta get in between those teeth and keep your gums healthy

  • Much better presentation! For future videos maybe try adding some diagrams, pictures etc... might help people who are unfamiliar with the terminology and/or descriptions get a better idea of what you mean.

  • I started flossing right after 0:32 :/

  • you seem like an amazing dr

  • What about Listerine on a daily basis?

  • Thanks very much. I gave you a thumbs up and subscribed.

  • I FLOSS EVERDAY!!

    .

... right before I eat a MARS Bar!

  • The thing is shes educated.. but educated doesnt mean smart it means she learned what she was taught end of story.. :S

  • The way I floss, takes me 5-8 mins at least. But I think my way is advanced, hard to describe over just text.

  • I am sorry, but, are you going to recommend me to floss with fluoride?. You lost all credibility to me since your last video in which you recommended fluoridated toothpaste. Fluoride is a poison. Seach "fluoride dangers" here on youtube or in google.

  • @rayearth05 poisonous at higher lvls... same with chlorine, enough of it and u will die, the right amount, and it can save ur life. they put enough chlorine in tap water to clean it but low enough concentration to be save to drink..same goes with fluoride... bet u didnt know oxygen is poisonous to u if u breathe a high concentration of it, such as 100%...u need it diluted if uw ant to live...

    ignorance has been vanished! :D

  • Oh shit! If my dentist would have told me that this way. I do floss every week twice though. I'll try to make it a daily habit. Morning and evening. Is that enough?

  • @TrickyEmu Yer she explained this so well...

  • @TrickyEmu I thought she said in the last video that it is good to floss once a day.

  • This video is currently being processed. OK ! LOL
