You came and you solved that.

    Thanks again.

  • Um okay, I want to reset the host files because iTunes is not restoring my iPhone (error 1600,21) How do I restore this?

  • Great work!!!

    THX alot!

  • BOOM! NICE ONE! Thanks dude. I've been getting the 1600 Error all afternoon when trying to restore my iPhone 4 after messing up a Jailbreak. This solved it.... well the restore has got a lot further up to now thanks.

  • It worked! Thanks for the tip man :D!

  • Sorry for bad english, not locker, padlock...

  • To unlock the hosts file:

Finder > Go > Go to folder...

    type "/etc/hosts" or "/private/etc/hosts"

right-click the hosts file > Get Info

On hosts info, expand "Sharing & Permissions" (the last)

Click on the locker and type your password

set the "wheel" permission to Read & Write by clicking on the wheel's Read only

If you want to, lock that again for preventing changes...

It is safer to set it back to Read only after you edited the file.

Please like this comment so it can stay on top.

  • @mkabilly actually IMO you should change permission settings of the /private/etc folder
