Pushing through the wind at that speed is like trying to run through a swimming pool of waste deep water. A good example is the Bugatti Veyron. I watched a special saying it only needed 300 HP to hit 150, but due to wind drag, it needed another 800 HP just to go an additional 100 mph to reach its top speed of 255. The wind's a bitch. @SuperSnake330CID Ya. Ford was really ahead of their time with that motor. Going forged was a smart move. That's something the LS1/6, 2/3, and even the supercharged LSA has to upgrade to through the aftermarket. The supercharged LS9 in the ZR1 is forged but that crate engine costs $23,000 lol. I'm not sure if the $14,000 LS7 7.0L crate motor is forged or not. Still stupid money. Stupid GM isn't going to put a forged motor in the Camaro ZL1 that's coming out. Gonna use Caddy's LSA. Duh.

@nukeurhouse12 People put NOS on LS engines all the time. it's the power adder of choice among the pack of 98-2002 F-Bodies that prowl around on the weekends. As long as you don't do anything stupid and put a huge shot on there, you'll be fine. Most guys run 100,125, or 150 shot. Anything more then that is pushing it on a stock motor. Some guys only run 75 shots but to me that's a waste of money and time.
@nukeurhouse12 It is when the computer's electronic limiter shuts the motor off. The tires the car comes with when purchased new are only speed rated to 168. An ungoverned corvette with the same engine (LS2) tops out at 186. The car dynoed 481 rwhp / 435 rwtrq on a Dynojet this past March after having CNC ported LS3 heads, cam, FAST 102 intake, rocker arms, NW 102mm throttle body, SNL 100mm cai, Kooks headers, Borla cat-back put on. Still tops out at 163, just gets there much quicker.

no high speed pull bro was like 120 to 140 in like 9 seconds. supra can pull 120 to 140 in like 4 seconds sometimes less. supra still owns in my opion
@MrPatty1993 Hard to pull at high speed with a 4 speed automatic transmission. From 120 to 163 it was in overdrive. Read above. With current setup and almost 500 rwhp it doesn't shift into 4th until 140-145. I believe it would give a silly Toyota an ass wooping as it sets now. If Supras were so great why did Toyota ever stop making them? Every one I've ever seen thad the stock turbo swapped out for something 4 times bigger because the stock car just can't hang with today's cars...

The only car GM makes that is not electronically limited is the Corvette. Do your research before making ignorant comments like that. Son, I've got 481 horsepower and 435 LBS./FT. of torque TO THE WHEELS compared to a stock automatic GTOS 320-330 rear wheel horsepower.
@TXs14 In this video, I was 90% stock with a CAI and Diablo canned tune only. Search "dustyminpin" and check out the other video I've got on the new setup taken on my friend's shitty ass cell phone. We only got up to 153 with traffic but you get an idea of how much faster the car is. In that video the car only had 455 rwhp. It was before I put the Nick Williams 102mm throttle body, 100mm cai, and 100mm maf on. The car gaine another 26 rwhp from that measured on a Dynojet.
@TXs14 Sorry man, you've got me on a roll. Did you even bother to look at the tach when the top speed was electronically shut off? The motor was only purring at 5200 rpms. It redlines at 6500! Now you tell me, why would a motor just decide to flatten itself out like that. It's not like I quit pushing down on the pedal, lol. I went 2 miles across the bayway one night at 163 pegged out. Wouldn't go a mile up. Wouldn't go a mile down. That's called a governor my friend.

Wish I had my camera that night...all I have is a picture on my old phone of the speedo at about 140-145ish while we were accelerating up. @TXs14 I believe you. My car ran 163 pretty much bone stock and it was suppose to shut off at 155. The whole electronic shutdown thing is plus or minus. You get in the ballpark, and you get shutdown. I know a guy with a bone stock 2004 with the LS1 who can run 160 and is suppose to shutdown at 155. Part of that might be that not all speedometers are 100% accurate either.

I still swear I read somewhere that they didn't have one but I've done some more research and, yeah, they do. Apparently they ALL were supposed to be limited to 155 lol
@dustyminpin the electronic limiters are not really all that accurate, I ran in a 2004 gto at 161 and then it cut me off after that, car is completely stock 6 speed, was sure that it would stop me at 155 but it let me keep going
my 04 ls1 has a tuned computer 373 gears only. i get to 180+. haven't gotten a long enough strip to take it to 200 yet lol.. and yes its an auto haha
@brazzr Do you know how to do that? Is it mechanical or in the software? My tuner said he disabled everything there was to disable software-wise using the EFI Live. I asked him if it could be in the TCM (transmission), he said it was taken care of in the software too. We're at a loss...

Series headers, 46 # injectors, Nick Williams 102mm throttle body, SNL 100mm cai, Texas-Speed 100mm maf, and a bunch of other stuff. Put down 481 RWHP / 435 RWTRQ on my tuner's house Dynojet 3 weeks ago. IT STILL TOPS OUT AT 163... just gets there alot faster.

@coolgames14 The Diablosport Predator tuner bumped the electronic speed limiter up a bit. A full blown dyno tune is suppose to disable it all together. When I did my cam/heads/intake manifold swap, the speed shop used EFI Live to reprogram the ECU. It didn't work. The car has 150 more HP and still has the same top speed, just gets there alot quicker. I've been told that the guys using HP Tuners don't have issues like this. I don't trust EFI Live anymore.

The GTO is about 400 pounds heavier and is way less aerodynamic. The average top speed of a GTO with the electronic top speed governor disabled (mine is not) is in the high 160s to very low 170s. @Ls2bluGoat I don't have the numbers in front of me right now. All I can tell you is it's an 06 with impulse blue metallic paint and blue leather, with the 18" rims. I'm running a cnc ported LS3 heads/cam kit with hollow stem valves and titanium retainers now. If you're interested, to a youtube search for dustyminpin. About 5 videos will come up. The video of my latest engine combo is titled dustyminpin's gto 156 mph.3gp. It's not an all out top speed run, but you can see the car's faster

There were 6 new GTOs sitting on the lot back in '06 on that fatefull day I went to the dealership. 2 of them were manuals, 1 red with red interior, the other black with black interior. If the black one would've had the red interior I would've considered it. I really wanted the blue paint with blue leather and my dad has a vette and said he gets sick of the shifting for a daily driver. So I got the A4.
@slingblade1991 I've been running a new motor setup since March '10. It's got a heads / cam/ intake manifold / headers, etc. swap. Makes 145 more hp then in this video. Tops out at the governed 163 much faster now. The top speed should not be governed now but the tuner cannot figure out how to disable it altogether. Still working on it. Haven't made a video of it yet.
@khenry1991 It's cool. The comment was partially accurate. It does take a LONG time to get to the electronically limited top speed of 163. I hope to have time one of these days to make another video with the new engine build. The stupid thing still shuts off at 163, my tuning guy can't figure it out, but it gets there MUCH MUCH quicker.

@darius112 It put down 455 hp and 415 trq to the wheels when the new top end was put on and tuned in March. It should run 170s, 180s easy but something electrical is holding me back.
@dustyminpin All I have is a KnN air filter. I think you might have the chip that will not allow you to go over 155. I got my car used with 10K miles on it and never had that issue. But I think that might be what’s up. The car doesn’t need more power to get to 165 I think you hit the nail on the head its something electric.
Hey the problem is the diablosport sucks ass, I have one too, sure it adds a little power but it sure as hell doesn't remove the governor. I even had them send me a 2nd custom tune to remove it and all they did was FUCK it up hardcore. My car lagged and it shifted 1st,2nd, AND 3rd by the time i hit 40MPH! So screw diablo, but anyways I guarantee thats the problem.

Something's wrong with my tune. I've got 150 more HP now then I did in this video (cnc ported LS3 heads, cam, FAST LSXR 102mm LS3 intake, 46 pound injectors, rocker arms, fuel rails, and some other stuff and the car rips up to 163 and stops again, just like in this video. It just gets there alot quicke. Nobody can figure out what's causing it to do that. I've had like 3 other tuners look at my tune and they say it's fine.

I did 165 and didn't have the balls to go for more I just keep running into traffic. I got twins 7psi 573rwp 543tq speed gov disabled. Not trying to brag but no matter what horsepower going that fast you tend to run out of room quick if its not traffic its the radar detector.
@Mark06LS2 The computer speed limiter got me back when the car was mostly stock. The new engine build I'm running now doesn't have a speed limiter. It was deleted during the dyno tune. I'm running Kuhmo Ecsta all season high performance tires right now that are only rated to 168 and truth be told, I'm afraid to see what it will do with 455 HP at the wheels.
@Mark06LS2 The tuner said it would run in the 180s. For now, I don't want to find out. Search GTO 156 MPH and look for Dustyminpin's GTO video. I only go to 156 in that one, but it's ALOT quicker.
btw the engine sound is way out of sync in the video, i heard it shift but the rpms where still rising and then a few seconds later they dropped... just fyi

It's not a top speed run because I ran out of interstate but I do get to 156 and it gets there much, much quicker then in this video. Check it out and compare the two. Do a search for GTO 156 MPH and look for the name Dustyminpin's GTO.

@safety4252 no manuals are no where near faster. unless you have a racing transmission which is pricy as hell it either shifts early or late. if you are into racing you need a manual cause the car wont down shift or upshift at the right time when you need to. it is hard as hell to race with an automatic
@safety4252 Nascar stock cars are 4spd manuals. Top Fuel transmissions are neither your typical manual or typical automatic type. They have timed, multi-stage clutches.
It's my daily driver, my only car. I didn't want a manual in rush hour traffic driving through the tunnel and across the bay way. That, and it was the only blue one they had with the blue leather interior and the 18" wheels. They had a blue one with the black leather and 17" wheels that was a 6 speed manny, but I didn't want it.

Their top speeds governed are almost identical. The 05 06 just gets there quicker. My buddy has a blue on blue A4 04, an LS1 clone version of my 06. We've raced 3 different times from a 50 mph roll, and I smoked him all 3 times. It's not even close. He won't race me anymore. But top speed balls out, without the limiter removed in a dyno tune, they run the same.

It's easy to make cheap power with them by simply swapping a pulley (like the lightning pickups), a big bonus to kids who want to go fast that don't have deep pockets. LS2s respond great to power adders. As I was trying to tell douchebag renemeza, my car gained 150 rwhp from heads,cam, intake,headers,catback, and dyno tune. It runs like a raped ape now. 481 rwhp, 435 trq.

That's something the LS1/6, 2/3, and even the supercharged LSA has to upgrade to through the aftermarket. The supercharged LS9 in the ZR1 is forged but that crate engine costs $23,000 lol. I'm not sure if the $14,000 LS7 7.0L crate motor is forged or not. Still stupid money. Stupid GM isn't going to put a forged motor in the Camaro ZL1 that's coming out. Gonna use Caddy's LSA. Duh.

@nukeurhouse12 People put NOS on LS engines all the time. it's the power adder of choice among the pack of 98-2002 F-Bodies that prowl around on the weekends. As long as you don't do anything stupid and put a huge shot on there, you'll be fine. Most guys run 100,125, or 150 shot. Anything more then that is pushing it on a stock motor. Some guys only run 75 shots but to me that's a waste of money and time.

An ungoverned corvette with the same engine (LS2) tops out at 186. The car dynoed 481 rwhp / 435 rwtrq on a Dynojet this past March after having CNC ported LS3 heads, cam, FAST 102 intake, rocker arms, NW 102mm throttle body, SNL 100mm cai, Kooks headers, Borla cat-back put on. Still tops out at 163, just gets there much quicker.

@MrPatty1993 Hard to pull at high speed with a 4 speed automatic transmission. From 120 to 163 it was in overdrive. Read above. With current setup and almost 500 rwhp it doesn't shift into 4th until 140-145. I believe it would give a silly Toyota an ass wooping as it sets now. If Supras were so great why did Toyota ever stop making them? Every one I've ever seen thad the stock turbo swapped out for something 4 times bigger because the stock car just can't hang with today's cars...

I've got about 150 more hp now with my heads/cam/intake/headers/throttle body setup then I did in this video taken 4 years ago and it still pegs out at 163. Just gets there WAY quicker. My tuner uses EFI Live and he has no idea what's holding the car back.

The only car GM makes that is not electronically limited is the Corvette. Do your research before making ignorant comments like that. As far as you and your buddy going faster then me in a "bone stock" GTO...LMAO. Son, I've got 481 horsepower and 435 LBS./FT. of torque TO THE WHEELS compared to a stock automatic GTOS 320-330 rear wheel horsepower.

@TXs14 In this video, I was 90% stock with a CAI and Diablo canned tune only. Search "dustyminpin" and check out the other video I've got on the new setup taken on my friend's shitty ass cell phone. We only got up to 153 with traffic but you get an idea of how much faster the car is. In that video the car only had 455 rwhp. It was before I put the Nick Williams 102mm throttle body, 100mm cai, and 100mm maf on. The car gaine another 26 rwhp from that measured on a Dynojet.

@TXs14 Sorry man, you've got me on a roll. Did you even bother to look at the tach when the top speed was electronically shut off? The motor was only purring at 5200 rpms. It redlines at 6500! Now you tell me, why would a motor just decide to flatten itself out like that. It's not like I quit pushing down on the pedal, lol. I went 2 miles across the bayway one night at 163 pegged out. Wouldn't go a mile up. Wouldn't go a mile down. That's called a governor my friend.

@TXs14 I believe you. My car ran 163 pretty much bone stock and it was suppose to shut off at 155. The whole electronic shutdown thing is plus or minus. You get in the ballpark, and you get shutdown. I know a guy with a bone stock 2004 with the LS1 who can run 160 and is suppose to shutdown at 155. Part of that might be that not all speedometers are 100% accurate either.

It now has ported LS3 heads, FAST 102 LSXR intake manifold, Kooks Sig. Series headers, 46 # injectors, Nick Williams 102mm throttle body, SNL 100mm cai, Texas-Speed 100mm maf, and a bunch of other stuff. Put down 481 RWHP / 435 RWTRQ on my tuner's house Dynojet 3 weeks ago. IT STILL TOPS OUT AT 163... just gets there alot faster.

@coolgames14 The Diablosport Predator tuner bumped the electronic speed limiter up a bit. A full blown dyno tune is suppose to disable it all together. When I did my cam/heads/intake manifold swap, the speed shop used EFI Live to reprogram the ECU. It didn't work. The car has 150 more HP and still has the same top speed, just gets there alot quicker. I've been told that the guys using HP Tuners don't have issues like this. I don't trust EFI Live anymore.

The GTO is about 400 pounds heavier and is way less aerodynamic. The average top speed of a GTO with the electronic top speed governor disabled (mine is not) is in the high 160s to very low 170s. Tops out at the governed 163 much faster now. The top speed should not be governed now but the tuner cannot figure out how to disable it altogether. Still working on it. Haven't made a video of it yet.

But I think that might be what’s up. The car doesn’t need more power to get to 165 I think you hit the nail on the head its something electric.

Hey the problem is the diablosport sucks ass, I have one too, sure it adds a little power but it sure as hell doesn't remove the governor. I even had them send me a 2nd custom tune to remove it and all they did was FUCK it up hardcore. My car lagged and it shifted 1st,2nd, AND 3rd by the time i hit 40MPH! So screw diablo, but anyways I guarantee thats the problem.

It still hits 163 and stops even though I got 150 more HP now then in this video. Something in my tune is holding me back. Nobody can figure out what's going on.

I did 165 and didn't have the balls to go for more I just keep running into traffic. I got twins 7psi 573rwp 543tq speed gov disabled. Not trying to brag but no matter what horsepower going that fast you tend to run out of room quick if its not traffic its the radar detector.

@Mark06LS2 The computer speed limiter got me back when the car was mostly stock. The new engine build I'm running now doesn't have a speed limiter. It was deleted during the dyno tune. I'm running Kuhmo Ecsta all season high performance tires right now that are only rated to 168 and truth be told, I'm afraid to see what it will do with 455 HP at the wheels.

@Mark06LS2 The tuner said it would run in the 180s. For now, I don't want to find out. Search GTO 156 MPH and look for Dustyminpin's GTO video. I only go to 156 in that one, but it's ALOT quicker.

@smarthaas90 I've got a new engine build now, with ported LS3 heads and a custom cam and FAST LSXR intake and some other stuff. It's not a top speed run because I ran out of interstate but I do get to 156 and it gets there much, much quicker then in this video. Check it out and compare the two. Do a search for GTO 156 MPH and look for the name Dustyminpin's GTO.

@safety4252 no manuals are no where near faster. unless you have a racing transmission which is pricy as hell it either shifts early or late. if you are into racing you need a manual cause the car wont down shift or upshift at the right time when you need to. it is hard as hell to race with an automatic

@safety4252 Nascar stock cars are 4spd manuals. Top Fuel transmissions are neither your typical manual or typical automatic type. They have timed, multi-stage clutches.

It's my daily driver, my only car. I didn't want a manual in rush hour traffic driving through the tunnel and across the bay way. That, and it was the only blue one they had with the blue leather interior and the 18" wheels. They had a blue one with the black leather and 17" wheels that was a 6 speed manny, but I didn't want it.

2004's have the LS1. 5.7 L. 350 HP. the 05's and 06's have the LS2. 6.0 L 400 HP.

Their top speeds governed are almost identical. The 05 06 just gets there quicker. My buddy has a blue on blue A4 04, an LS1 clone version of my 06. We've raced 3 different times from a 50 mph roll, and I smoked him all 3 times. It's not even close. He won't race me anymore. But top speed balls out, without the limiter removed in a dyno tune, they run the same.

I have 5 MILLLLIIONN Horse POWER.......RWHP....... it all gets sent back via a Gument cheese 24 speed shimano rail quad set-up to a 94" rear end with 195/40/14 rubber is made by bitch tires.
