I'm not so sure that the sexual attentions of her uncle would have played a part in her mental instability because manic depression tends to be an illness that is inherited. It's also a fact that major depression has an effect on a person's interest in sex, or to be more precise, lack of interest. I don't doubt however, that his behaviour probably played a part in her views towards sex & of how she saw herself in her own mind as it probably made her feel unlovable or unworthy of being loved
