Patti performed this song during the Soul Train Music Awards back in either 1988 or 1989. Yes, MJ was there. I think he performed with a sprained ankle in a chair - He was BAD!

Also, this is the award show Anita Baker won numerous Soul Train awards for her CD Giving You the Best that I Got.

Patti tore this song up. This was the only song of Michael's that she could sing and be flawless on. I know Michael was in that audience smiling. Come to think of it he was probably stunned, thinking to himself, "Gee, when they told me Patti was gonna sing one of my song I didn't know what to expect, low and behold that woman sung it betta than me and its my song". At the end of the show I know he went and gave Mama Patti a hug and some shugah for that beautiful rendition. Great Job Ms Labelle!
