  • very good men

  • Was up with the dislikes? It´s not a bad cover! keep up the good work and don´t let the haters get to you

  • Dear folks! If you have less than a minute to give a little help, please see the description below the video, about how you can help me win Vic Firth Drumstick's contest! Thanks everyone! :)

  • not very fluent but not bad..

  • Not bad man!

  • Well done! Great technique!

  • Wachu lookin at on the wall? hahaha NICE job!

  • Nice job mate! Tricky groove and you gave it a good thwack round the head!

    + its a great dvd.

  • pretty damn close!

  • Wow Man you got it. Great Job...

  • NICE JOB! traditional grip freaking cool! elegant :p

  • The best cover of Jo jo Mayer I've heard. Techniques down to a tee. Tight as fuck!

  • great

  • this isn't jojo mayer....

  • @boobietrap1000 Thanks for the notice. I almost thought I'm Jojo Mayer!

  • @danieljanca Haha. ;D

  • Hey man! nice!

  • Damn well performed

  • Hey man great job. Only critique would be you didn't keep a steady tempo at some points, like when you went to the ride back into the high hat groove. Other than that great :)

  • @xiaoxi12 Thanks. Now I know I was inaccurate, but back than I might not have noticed it so much.

  • Hit those 4 stroke rolls quite well at the end!

  • Some really nice stickwork there. Do you ever use toms in your set up?

  • @paddy689909 Of course I use toms, I intended this to be a cover of Jojo Mayer's groove from the DVD so I used a similar minimal setup. See my other videos so you can get an idea of my setup preference.

  • same same!

  • hell yeah dude)))wish to you all good what have in world

  • this is meaningless because this not you this is some one trying to be like jojo mayer and yeah it was technical im not saying its easy to do what you do but at the end comes the question why should i watch you when i can watch jojo mayer do it better

but non the less good job

  • @DAYMOUS By the title you knew what to expect, so there was something that made you watch it, therefore it's not meaningless. For me, it is not meaningless either, because the original video and Jojo himself being so popular, I'm getting lots of views too. Thanks anyways!

  • @DAYMOUS Lastly, it's not meaningless because it's a great excercise through which you develop technically.

  • @DAYMOUS Bad attitude my friend.

  • @SuperMonkeyNuts yeah maybe you are right

  • Great job! Not as clean as Jojo, but hey, that's why he's so amazing!

  • Great job man im not even saying good "try" because you nailed it great job

  • Yeah ! Nice try !

Some little rytmic mistake but really cool !

  • Unfortunately the drag of the original is missing here, but still a good effort.

  • Not freaken bad...

  • are those aquarian power sleeves?

  • @thelopeisback no, WEARY vic firth dave weckl evolutions. :) havent heard of the power sleeve sticks. are they any good?

  • @danieljanca can't say i've tried them. they're virtually non-existant. the only person i know who used them is dave grohl when he was with nirvana.

  • no energy man. there's even your website. you gotta learn to play before baby

  • Huge thanks to all of you for the comments! :) I really appreciate it!

  • aow... you're good dude!

  • well it's not perfect as jojo but it's so difficult, you've done a really nice job!

  • great job but u drag on tempo

  • Extremely respectable!

  • dude, great style this sounds awesome

    you look like Alex Rudinger

  • where the last strokes buzzes?

  • @danieljanca the strokes at 0:23

  • @allmetaliswelcome yes, but is something wrong with those last notes? or what was your comment supposed to say about it?

  • @danieljanca no they sounded like you bounced a lot of notes, instead of buzzing, which i think is cool

  • @allmetaliswelcome Ahh see! Well, I really did intentionally play "only" four notes with one hand because I wanted to copy Jojo's groove note-by-note, this is what he plays.

  • I think you got a great head start. Practice a lot with a metronome and internalize it!

  • really really really awesome! bravo!!! what my ear is craving to hear more of is more openness in the snare accents. I'd imagine some combination of tuning, mics, and technique would be the next step. loved it dude. loved it loved it.

  • @jedirhythm thanks! :)

  • I don't think nobody can match Jojo at DnB, so getting close to what he's playing is a feat in itself. Nice job!

  • Fucking sick jam dude, I love those ghost notes along with the doubles on the hi-hats. Still having difficulty doing it myself.

  • @MorningRise90 there are actually triplets on the hi-hats! :)

  • Not perfect but still incredible to come close to jojo. great job man! keep workin and for all the people trying to talk smack you should do a video response of you doing it better then jojo and then you can talk smack but until then this guy has you owned. :)

  • check my version, its not a cover, its more of a tribute to jojo

  • i agree. your technique is wicked but id love to hear an original composition from cuz im sure it would be killer! keep it up though dude it sounds great!

  • @turnstylezdrumming Thanks! I think I'll be uploading new videos from July, if not sooner! :)

  • i think this is a very good exercise, but don't try to copy a style of drumming, that's pathetic, the best you can do is to deveop your own style, thast's the way you'll be the best always, with an own way of drumming

  • pssh, i thought it was sick, but hey what do i know, im just a stupid drummer tutut :/

  • Excellent. Room for improvement, but still excellent.

  • You're boss. Could be tighter but I can say the same about a lot of things. :O

  • Don't listen to all of these fuckin haters bro.. Great job...

  • @osageindy1 Thanks bro! :) People: Although I welcome both positive and negative criticism, in the latter case, if all you can tell is I'm not as good as Jojo Mayer.. well, I know. Who is? Such a comment wouldn't help me and would only make *you* look stupid.

  • @danieljanca Hey man, nice work. If you watch Jojo closely, you'll see that he's dancing behind his sticks. Now that your hands got the part, try to put your back into it :-)

  • Hey now, thats funny, you have the same drum kit as i have! Only in a different finish.

  • jojo mayers version sounds better and he lives the beat

  • @D3rarsch obviously..

  • @D3rarsch Why would you even point that out? Like, why? Just to be a rude prick? Have you ever thought about leaving POSITIVE comments? Or are you always just a negative asshole?

  • @leanfiend444 Why would you even point that out? - I don't know

Just to be a rude prick? - No, daniel janca plays it very well. I only think Mayer plays a bit smoother

Have you ever thought about leaving POSITIVE comments? - Yes I have

And don't call me a negative asshole, cuz i'm not and why do care what I comment, I didn't say It's bad.

And It isn't bad. It's actually damn good.

This guy knows that he's good. why shouldn't i tell him he should try to play smoother

  • @D3rarsch dude, nobody can play this like jojo... but great work daniel !!!

  • @bohdaaanek Thanks buddy!

  • can you post an instructional lesson on this? its great,

  • @blight4hire i might do it in the future, but now I'm pretty busy with other "projects". :) thanks!

  • white kind of sticks were u using?

  • @nobones12 Vic Firth Dave Weckl Evolution Signature sticks. (SDW2 I believe)

  • great skills man, good job!

  • mangia polenta....

  • Cool, short, sloppy and dirty.

    This is drum'n'bass, not punk'n'sludge :)

  • Ride Part is very nice, but too short.

  • now do it in the streets of NY.

    lols im kidding, nice one.

  • lotta dirt in there, man

  • Nice bro !

  • what happen to your toms

  • @escojido777 they were given a day off. seriously though, i wanted you to see what I'm doing, and this was intended to imitate the original video of Jojo so I set up my kit as he did then.

  • @escojido777 Who needs toms for some good ole' D&B

  • did you get the transcription from drummersworld ? just wondering because thats where i got it from lol

  • @julianisdope No, I learned it by ear, slowing down the original video helps a lot. In fact, I didn't know that there is a transcription out there, I was planning on doing one and putting it up. Is it free on drummerworld?

  • @danieljanca yea its free it's in the transcription section under Drum'N'Bass Groove jojo mayer with the slowmotion

  • Rithms?

  • @BSEing what do you mean?

  • intro stick clicks are waaaaaaay too fast

  • @TesticleMonkey thanks, i might do that sometime, keep checking back. i have some new vids coming soon as well.

  • You're a beast.

  • wooow

  • wow

  • how do you play the first few strokes on the stick and the snare, even in the slow motion video of jm i can't figure it out

  • @RAGANAW It's probably the easiest part :) . With traditional grip, you just let the stick rest loose between your thumb and indexfinger at the its best balance point, or the so called pivot point, and hit it about halfway between that and the tip with the other stick. (You can close in on the stick, grip it just a little bit more firmly than letting it completely loose, so that you adjust its rebound speed and thus change the density of the sound.)

  • i never thought there is anyone who can cover Jojo Mayer. Amazing Job! Keep it up! Did you learn it with the DVD or are there any notes? btw where are you from

  • @RAGANAW I learned it by ear from the DVD. I'm from Hungary. Thanks for the comment! :)

  • Crazy stuff...

Just too stiff as mrTooKanSam said.

  • Great job man! :)

  • Excellent!

  • Great!

  • Great video man.

  • Awesome!, one thing to work on though is your dynamic phrasing, make sure that cymbal hit is harder and the hi hat swish after the crash should be more accented, Try not to look so stiff also. Great, Great job man.

  • @mrTooKanSam Thanks! Good advice!

  • More! Nice drumset!
