Pretty print? It's CAS that makes modern calculator different. I have no idea why highschools use TI-84s and not TI-89s. Students need to see calculus rules applied. Calculus gives you the answer but you have to prove the answer. Why is this the answer? Application of the chain rule for example.
Is it just me, or are even the top-notch calculators overpriced and underpowered?
Really we should have way better calcs at this point. I have a TI- 94, a Voyage 200,and my little Casio fx-115ES. The Casio is way Overpowered if you look at what it can do for a $18.00 machine VS. the $140 or $170. you pay for the other two. I want a HP 50g, but still if I could dedicate my HP 4355 pocket PC to just calculations, it would toast them all.
It certainly is a lot more feature packed than my old ti-83. That said, these problems should be second nature to anyone studying mathematics at the university level anyway and once you graduate you'll probably never touch a calculator again. Everything is done on PCs.
the best feature of the 89 is the "pretty print" refer to ti-89 wiki. If you don't need that I've found my 83+ sufficient, programs on the internet vastly expand the calculators use.
I found a ti-89 on craigslist for 40$ and couldn't pass it up.
The thing with the ti-89 is that you don't get "pretty print" until you're done with the problem and it goes into the history stack (think about it). The whole time you're entering a large, complex equation into the command line, all you get is that tedious, one line format. With an HP50g in RPN mode, you get pretty print as soon as you start entering your problem. You can also input your problem in way fewer keystrokes with the HP. Something to think about.
hey, anyway you can upload the program on the net somewhere? i'll be frank in saying that i don't wanna pay $300 BUT NEED MAJOR HELP with calc. plz help!!!
when you graph a function and there is no graph lines, while in the graph screen his the light yellow button that has a diamond in it then press F2. you want to get into the window display area. from here you can set your display, set everything to 10. be careful cuz you have some negative numbers there to so just put in negative 10 where you have a negative number should look like this xmin=-10 xmax=10 xscl=1 not 10 ymin=-10 ymax=10 yscl=1 not 10 hope this helps hope this wasn't a repost

hey bro answer this question..... is there a difference between the '89 and voyage 200??? what are they? so '89 VS. VOYAGE 200???? wich is BEST of the two??? thx!
They are the same except for the keyboard and a bigger screen on the v200, and v200 works with a serial-usb cable wich is worst to plug on ur pc, ti89 works with a mini usb one
how did you that!!!! I just had my calculus exam today I did good (I have a ti voyage 200), but my teacher is all about procedure so the only thing I can do is check my answers..
