The film begins with the mountain ridge. Its name is The King's Rock. Also the place where they pull out a big stone and see the hole to the cave, it was filmed in an old and unused limestone quarry, because the mountain has a lot of limestone.

In the movie, the soldiers stoped because the road is blocked (rocks made on computer) and they glide the mountain (its name is King's Rock). After a while, they reach the church. But in reality, the church was down the place where they stoped, because it's on the same road.:) But in the movie, they seemed to glide the mountain and on the top is the church.

The church has been built in a place where it was a rescue chalet, only during de shooting. Because it was filmed from the down side, the back side of the church was only a frame. But when I was there too see it, in 2004 as I rmmbr, it seemed to be there since tens of years...

The Cave is definitely one of the best horror movies of the 2000's - better than The Descent.

Only one thing about this movie wasn't that goog - the acting. All others were great - storyline, visual effects...

By far, the best element of this film is the underground scenery. The sets are realistic, with spaces and formations that one might see in certain large caverns.

Some parts of this movie was, however pretty scary, e.g. the chamber with the large area of water, and had the same waiting suspense early on in the movie as the Descent had, the build up to the climax, there is something else down there with you!

Dont get me wrong, the cave is a good thriller and you should watch it, it is in the same era as the Descent, not a well known movie, but a good one.

Accept from the sounds they produced, and the way they killed you, they can pop out and scare ya, but not have you in a permanent state of fear, you will always remember the creatures in the Descent, as they are basically human, so therefore, easy to remember and image of. The cave is more of a thriller, it is good, but does not have you remembering it as much as the Descent did.

Secondly, I find that creatures with two arms and two legs are more horrifying as it resembles a human being silhouette in the darkness, or I find mutated human entities, like those in the thing, I just do not find the monsters in this scary at all.

"The Descent"

Out of those three, the worst was "The Cavern", with its maniacal wildman doing the Jason Voorhees bit to the intrepid explorers. "The Cave" was entertaining, because of its underwater filming and the creepy 'bat-like' creatures stalking a team of speleologists. By far the best entry was "The Descent"... I still find it the perfect subterranean horror film to watch on a dark night!
