Most Indians are intelligent. Indian education system is one of the best in the world and free or quite affordable. That is why so many Indians are in higher positions in the western world. Ex: CEO's of Pepsi, Citi bank, Adobe,Vodafone etc or 2 Governors in USA or so many MP's in UK etc . But some children like him have to struggle hard to come up in life,as parents from poor background, want them to start earning money right from the childhood.

When I was in high school over 20 years ago, we had a foreign exchange student from India in our algebra class. He sat right behind me. He went through the math book by about the 6th week of class and had to move on to a higher level. I do not understand why these people are so extremely intelligent. It was truly phenominal to see him write his math problems down at lightning speed!
