@hjlydia - Me too, but I'm so excited that so many people made videos! Who knew i'd be so grateful for YouTube?! :) His music just really lives on, doesn't it? It could have been recorded today, and i think it's still so relevant because he told the truth (and we know that truth doesn't change) and that it's just darn good music. I love that people are still just coming to know it now too. :)
Sometimes on a hard day at work, I'm a nurse, this song just comes singing in my heart and head and takes me away and lifts me up from the worst of everything....I count it a blessing from God. God's love is really all we need; the 1 miracle, Rich had it, it;s there for all of us....
Love this song - amazing lyrics. Funny episode in the middle of the song when he thinks he's got the wrong words (my kids love to copy that bit), But what a man he was.
I had pleasure of seeing Rich at Taylor University and in South Bend. I know he was a man and a sinner like the rest of us. But when you were in his presence, you felt like he was a missionary from Heaven's throne sent down from Jesus Himself. He was a man that seemed to have direct communication to God. He had such insight and such faith. He was humble and genuine.
How did you end up traveling with him? His forgetting the words certainly makes me feel closer to him. He never pretended to be even close to perfect. I would have loved to see him in concert, but it is a privilege to watch these videos.
"There's a wideness in God's mercy I can not find in my own" so many times this song calls to the depts of my heart reminding me of the jealous love that surrounds me when I can't see past my failures.
I love Rich Mullins and have all his CDs, and this is my favorite, too. The Love of God even beats out Rich's amazing demo of Heaven In His Eyes. There is no bigger Rich Mullins fan than me. To see this video for the first time, the first time I have ever seen Rich play this song, makes me want to cry. I think he had a cold here and that's why he forgot the words. It makes the song all the more special, showing Rich was truly human.
@reidthornton I traveled with him some (minimally in the early nitnesies) and saw a lot of his concerts...trust me he often forgot the words and responded often in this way...most of those surrounding him found it kind of endearing.
@dkshotwell - mine too. Isn't it interesting how he ... he thought "Awesome God" was this poorly constructed song, and he didn't like this one, and those two are so loved by so many? I love that he messes up here and the laugh at the end is just gold!
I remember this tour he was sick had a cold.
