For those who liked these songs and love Medieval music too, find out "Trecento"music, Italian Ars Nova or authors like Francesco Landini.. you won't be disappointed :-)).
and... just want to say that I LOVE Helium Vola ^^! They make amazing adventurous music, their ri-eleboration of Early Music in a contemporary/pop way is nowhere easy, very few can do this! Last but not least,I really like the nice linguistic variety they put in their work :)
Eheh, yes, it sounds similar indeed :P. I understand that for a non-romance languages speakers (or someone who didn't study Latin) could be quite hard to distinguish the two..
But there are differences in grammar/phrase structures (the most obvious example, the appearence of definite article which was non-existent in authentic Latin) and some phonetic phenomena which suggest the transition of Latin into a "new" language..
@birzilie If you listen carefully you can ear (better if you have the lyrics at hand) that "Lucente stella" sounds somewhat different from their other songs in Latin even if you don't know the languages:
Let's try with some songs
-> "Veni Veni", "Fama Tuba", "Omnis Mundi Creatura"= Latin (even if it's not classic Latin as they're medieval texts)
@birzilie -> "Lucente Stella", "Hor che'l ciel", "Come Talore"= Ancient (Medieval) Italian. Why I call it "Florentine" : well, very essentially, you have to know that Modern Italian took life from Florence's vulgar for lots of reasons I'm not going to write here 'cos I know I'm boring you all, ah ah ;).
In fact if we do compare them with:
-> "Dormi", "A voi che amate" = Modern Italian .Don't you think it sounds somewhat similar to Middle Ages Florentine? Yeah ;).
@birzilie Thanks for explaining! I did have Latin many years in school, I love this language. No clue about Romanic linguistics though. I was just joking a bit :)
@LOLDISNEYLAND I looove Qntal! Apparantly their going to Ren-con next year. I want to try and go. It would be wonderful to see them and so many other great artists all in one place...

And why the hell do you compare Rammstein with Helium Vola? I can't see any sense in that.

Rammstein is a different genre! LOL
I love Rammstein too but I can't really compare apples and oranges, both are just too different to even try.
Helium Vola is amazing, so is Qntal.
