  • Hi Rx Rebel - the muscles you are talking about are probably the suboccipital muscles. If you keep doing this exercise it will strengthen the deep neck flexes which will counter the suboccipitals. But hey - everyone needs a little help, not sure what part of the world you are in but find a good Chiropractor of Osteopath that can help you. If you don't have access to those then a good Massage Therapist who can at least work on those tight muscles. Good luck.

  • Hi Anne, when i try to do this exercise, i make almost no movement b/c those muscles around c1 seem so tight (whiplash injury), it seems the restriction is so high up towards the skull that I don't even know how to begin stretching it out & to regain range of motion...do you have any recommendations, possibly? Thanks so much!

  • Hi Anne, thanks for the video. I've just realized that I have anterior head carriage and this seems like a good exercise to help. Although I do feel that the muscles under my mouth aroundmy neck have to work very hard. Will I start to overdevelop them?
