Saw these guys in 1991 open for Sister Double Happiness and Soundgarden. They were first, something like their 7th or 8th show. Crazy how big they were less than a year later. Me and my buddy met the whole band, signed up for their newsletter. I got that thing for years.

This might sound bogus, but they also asked us to hang out with them on their tour bus. This, of course, was right after he told us that they'd cleaned up from a drug problem. Considering how things eventually went for Hoon and the band, we were smart to say no.

I want more music like them! the instruments always hold the melody but not predictable like boring pop...the two guitars (at least) and the bass doing their own thing yet totally complementing each other...the songs had such good vibes without being mad heady... heartfelt lyrics and voice (even if they weren't the best), , altrock feel w/o the expected song structure so it doesnt get stale

I think terms get too over used till they have no more meaning. Grunge and Alternative were extremely over used terms. A lot of the music that these bands were making was no different than 60s, 70s, and even some 80s rock. Pearl Jam was really just another rock band. People mistakingly say Hair Rock died out immediately. It didn't. And it's still around just like this style of music. Music is Music, Parts is Parts. It's all just arranged differently. Now Dinosaur Jr.. that's alternative :)

Saw them open up for Ozzy and Alice in Chains. It was a fluke. Motorhead was supposed to open up for them. Then the lead singer broke his foot, and Blind Melon swooped in. Nobody knew who they were in 92/93. I bought their tape.. yes TAPE the next day before I had a CD player in my mustang (beat up mustang). Tried so hard to get people to take them seriously for about a year. Nodbody would. Till No Rain got super trendy. Then that made me get tired of them. But I eventually got over that.

there's a record store in west lafayette IN--i forget it's name now--on the levee by the wabash and they used to have a big mural all around the outside of the building of dead rockers. shannon was on there. i always thought it was cool since he's from lafayette. i think they painted the whole thing over though. probably just me but a lot of their songs make me nice and nostalgic about lafayette and other places in indiana. it's a nice place in the end
