first of all it's a les paul possible and epiphone les paul. ok man if you are going to cover this song you need to do those chords with up strokes not down strokes and focus on the small strings. secondly you need a strat with the volume slightly rolled off on the bridge pickup and a fender clean amp preferably tube. those humbuckers have way too much bite for this song.

Yeah a Les Paul isn't the right guitar for the song... Maybe use the treble pick-up and up the highs on your amp but yeah Telecaster would be best.
