any chance of uploading another track from tthis album ? the one that goes,,,' you can tell them I'm living in the islands ,,,,somewhere, where the day is always bright,,etc, etc,,, you know the one.. I bought the dvd on my last trip to bali but gave it to a young local grom so he could see what his home town looked like 30 years ago,,
Wow thank you soooo much for this....brought back so many memories of surfing The Island (Phillip Island) and The West Coast (Bells Beach and Winke) When I was only about 16. What a special album it was and movie Morning of the Earth. Summer days warm and sweet and the surf culture was all about love connection and spirit.
Cool song, was just a grommet when this movie came out and it has inspired me to make surf films and shoot for TV broadcast of surfing events.....thanks is not enough, I owe you old guys a lot.
You don't have to be a surfer to appreciate the beauty of this song and the ocean. I grew up in FN Qld no surf there team ...big reef in the way. Have loved this song since the first day I heard it in 1974 I was 10 and it affects me the same way today I feel such peace.
Great surfing. Great music. Great days. We should have kept it simple like this, friends. What a much better gift it would have been for our children than the crap they have now.
manly beach at this time was a great spot and not crowed with only a few hambuger shop,s you know the real aussie food takeawy, the beach was great and some real grouse waves at times, beat up old holdens we had, easy parking, no dram,as at all, chicks everywhere man, they were so unpretentious as well, real babes, miss it all, miss my manly beach and everything life dished up for us young beach goer,s,the 60s, were even just as good or better, this song did it for us as well,fk getting old YEEKS!
@barnfresh60 - i hear you. I'm 53 next month. Manly is a second home to me. Live in the subs now, wife, kids...I remember those days. Baddy Treloar (Native surboards out of his Dad'd shop Northside Stor-a-board), Twizzle, Bobby Mills. Just a great place. I drop in there occassionally and despite the changes i still feel that same essence of the place. Surfing the Bower...so much time has passed so quickly. To be honest sometimes I've never felt so lost. Good luck to you.
yeah I remember. i was 15yrs old. (i'm over 50 now) I was .just a gromett;;then however you spell that word. I surfed Gibson Step once with Wayne Lynch . I just happened to be there when he was that day...it was perfect at 6ft. Great day I will always remember it.
OMG !! how good is this? near 40 years on!! max respect to G. Wayne Thomas and all associated. thanks to LampoCastor for the posting too

if only people did what this song says maybe the world will be ok after all.. but there's no formular for happiness thats guarantee to work..the world needs to hear this.
We had e-mails back and forth about posting this video. And now Facebook has pulled the video saying that I did not have your permission to post your video.
I remember asking, and you saying that you thought it was cool that a new generation of young adults liked your video.
Any chance of someone uploading the Bali clip which features the old Kiwi band "Ticket" with the track "Dream Chant"?
You know the one...
More a case of preserving the track and having it available, it's extremely rare to find. I have the film but aren't savvy enough to clip it into youtube.
I don't s'pose you could put up Bali Waters too??? Please? I have the 12" and the movie but I'd love a music clip. In any case thanks for this - it's terrific.
I've just updated the info for this vid. BJStar66 let me know that there is a new G. Wayne Thomas website, so there is a link to the site in the video info. Well worth a look!
@LampoCastor its great to have seen this on tube , this is possibly the greatest movie/soundtrack ever made and is without a doubt a masterpiece of art both visually and audibly , perfection , this movie was screened for the very first time at my parents home at Elanora Hights ,behind Narrabeen , Sydney . by Alby Falzon an Bob Evans and others , before it even hit the cinema`s , i was ahh 7,8 years , can remember seeing a gathering of 20 or 30 , the elite of Australian surfing ,
Wow, that must have been something! I was living in Geelong when the movie was released, aged 13, and everyone piled on down to The Pix in Geelong West to see it.
Fantastic music, fantastic visuals, a real masterpiece, once seen never forgotten, it just becomes a wonderful part of existence. Best wishes to you! :)
This was a track on the first compilation album I ever bought in the 70"s. It was called "20 Happening Hits" Memories come flooding back. Great times.
I asked G. Wayne Thomas about this. He is unaware that there was an original clip to this song. The only clip is from the movie itself. I guess he would know. Interested in knowing what clip you are referring to though. Remember Tamam Shud did remake version of this song a few years later, so maybe a clip went with that? If there was a clip, it wasn't G. Wayne Thomas though.
Even though I'd asked Wayne about the clip you are asking about and he said there was none, I have to say I think you are RIGHT.I watched the MOTE Special on TV today and there is black&white footage of Wayne on the beach and climbing rocks etc.I wonder. . . .
I'm going to ask Wayne about that tomorrow and then GO HUNT IT DOWN - for me AND for you!
I told you.I remember watching A B/W clip on T.V. I swear it was this song.I think there was a part where someone holding a board is on the beach looking at the waves.
Letting everyone know that the Sydney MOTE Production at the State Theatre for Sept 27 is SOLD OUT! Not to worry as another show is being put on and tickets for that show will go on sale on AUGUST 4TH! So if you missed out on the first night, you get a chance to see the second show.
I'm writing G. Wayne Thomas's Career Biography WITH him. What is it that everyone wants to know about him? What questions do you have?ALL answers will be from GWT himself,so it will be FACT & not researched often incorrect info. AT LAST there'll soon be a GWT website! My finished Bio will be here, & it's here also you'll discover so much more about this Extremely Talented & Gifted man. What would YOU ask him? NOW is your chance!Questions please.Grateful for all help with this. Cheers and Thanks!
I asked G. Wayne Thomas about there being two versions of this song? He said that THIS is his original and ONLY version of "Open up your Heart". He said that you may be confused with a version that Tamam Shud did of it years later.

There's some old saying that "Youth is wasted on the young".
It is so true, and it's a sadness for me that l just took for granted all the great and easy times at Scarb Bch in the 70s.
There's no formula for happiness, that's guaranteed to work
It all depends on how you treat your friends
And how much you've been hurt
But it's a start, when you open up your heart
And try not to hide, what you feel inside
Just open up your heart.
