  • This is one amazing clip!!!!

  • It was done by Auto Europe, Michigan's Lotus dealer and filmed at Grattan Raceway.

  • Ha! Bruce Lee. The perfect comparison to this car

  • I own a 2010 S260 and its a blast to drive!

  • i love english cars

  • oh gnion mes 2 mythes reunies sur une meme video

  • this car is powerful and beautiful dude

  • intitruder and turbobarjo share the same opinion like me, i hope you'll give me a lot of thumbs down for that. thank you guys you're great!

  • this car is by far the hottest car iv ever seen. this video has done a great job at capturing the beauty!! lol

  • CA you use one of these cars for everyday use. That is, for getting to work everyday and doing the groceries etc.?

  • Comment removed

  • yeah with to bumps at the front hahaha

  • My Elise is in the shop for a week while it awaits a new oil cooler (a common problem on the '05's).

I miss it so much! I keep watching this video -- haha!

  • LMAO

  • Good job filming at Grattan Raceway.

  • my god this car is gonna change the motorworld

  • Yep.

Started about 10 years ago though.

  • My buddy Gil Smith and I did the video in Michigan where I bought the car, It was a week old when we decided to do the video and break it in. We didn't have a camera car. The shots are out of the side doors of a van during a Lotus meet. I brought the car back to LA where I tricked it out. My true mistress was my 1965 Lotus 26R. I had MWE (Don't ever use them) build a 2 litre injected Cosworth BDP with rally cams producing 262 BHP @ 8,500 RPM's.

  • THANK YOU for such a great video.

  • Lotus sure is the bruce lee of cars.

  • I talked to some people who owns an exige.

They said the roof was actually removable.

Even though there is a roof scoop to direct air to the engine...the U.S. version was said to be useless. Only Euro version is functional?

Not too sure, but they say all the Exiges can remove the top to turn into a targa.

  • Lost Prophets- Wake Up

  • this songs and bands name please?

  • another thing I want to mention is I saw a Exige that was a Targa.

    The hard top was removed.

I think it was an exige cause , if i remember correctly the back engine was covered up with no rear window to see through. It might be an elise with a wing attached though.

    Does an Exige Targa exist?

  • No, It doesn't exist an Exige Targa but I've seen some mods that can be done to get it that way!

    Check it » lotustalk[dot]com/forums/f157/how-install-soft-top-exige-27090/

  • the exige has the bilstein option that the elise don't have -_-

  • No, the Exige has the Elise OPTION for the Bilstein dampers STANDARD.

  • Exige S 240 has 240hp boosted.

    Exige S has 218hp

    Elise SuperCharged has 218hp

But considering I'm gonna spend money on a Exige 240...might as well get a cup car...but I don't think I can get it from dealers.

  • hmm, they've released a lot of packages recently

    um, get 240 S, it's only 3K more than the exige S

or spend some time looking for an old elan ;-)

  • They're releasing a CUP 260 soon.

    Wait for that.

  • as a street legal car?

  • Not sure.

I don't think the Cup cars are road legal, but they might be coming up with one soon.

  • yep

  • can't decide.

Elise supercharged, Exige S , or Exige 240

I don't think i can buy the cup car from the dealership : (

  • exige S, that's the exige that's supercharged to 240hp, it's a 3.8s car :-)

I'm guessing the elise supercharged, has the same set up as the exige S?

  • cadillac escalade

  • Not that I want to waste my time with some punk on the internet but for anyone else reading this thread that wants clarification...

A huge detail I left out is that it is a 2005 (not brand new), BUT it only had 3800 miles on it!. It has both pacakges, so for 36K it was still a GREAT deal. Everyone thinks it is brand new.

Still don't believe me? Call Topline Auto In Burligame, CA. Ask for Jason (the salesman).

My point, Elise, lovers...they are out there and very affordable!

  • "Fucking Idiot", "Fucking Liar", and not getting your facts straight (you can't get a 1-3% loan unless it is a special through a dealership...exotics require bank loans and the best most can get is 6% otherwise) earn you a thumbs down, man. I answered to the masses so that they still realize the elise is an affordable and awesome car...not that I am a liar who doesn't know what he is talking about. That's all. Sorry about the punk comment. Later.

  • was going to buy one,got a 230 hp RX-8 instead,because i need a car for every day,with a boot and back seats etc.someday though,when i can afford a car just for the weekends.....

  • I bought an Elise a month ago and LOVE it. Takes corners better than ANYTHING. It is so fun to drive and plenty fast. Not too mention it is one of the best looking sports cars ever.

  • what are the payments like? insurance?

  • Long story short...36K (nice price), I dropped 11K as a down payment. I have great credit and got a 7-year loan. I pay only 430 a month. Insurance isn't "that" bad but I can't tell you for sure how much as it is a group plan and I recently got another car.

As long as you have decent credit and buy a used Elise, they are MUCH more affordable than they look!

  • Not especially when their production costs are so high. Elise was good for its time but the car was not progressive enough. There are many cars that I see on the road and in competitive motorsports that are much capable than the Elise. I think people have to move on and change the 'performance through lightweight' motto to something else. Change a new car completely, don't make a new model with the same aluminium tub ie. Europa (which is a still born GT wannabe).

  • Actually 'C3POisgay' is quite right. I used to own a 111S, did my driver's training with Alastair, visited the factory, had a long chat with Clive Chapman, I find the company and the cars they make OVERRATED. Simply because of MONEY. When its parent company PROTON is in financial difficulties its not going to be easy for Lotus to come out with new models.

  • lol - the Elise is FUN, really. it's so intimate with the road, and driver. no other car is nowhere near as intimate

  • Unless you've driven a Lotus, you really are in no position to comment. I've owned my Elise 111R for 2 years. Had NO trouble with it(due to Toyota drivetrain). I Had a 911 before that and the Lotus made the Porsche feel dull, heavy and slow-witted. I still get excited about driving it, in fact; I think I'll pop out for a blast now....See ya!

  • sportscar weight, lotus elise, means ALOT - some of the 3000-3500 sportscars, even though they have more horsepower, can't match with the elise feather weight of under 2000 lbs.

not only because of weight, but the Elise is purely in a class of its own

  • i love the Elise - it's such a pure, sportscar driving experience. No other sportscar can give you what the Elise can

  • @juse

i think the exige has no targa roof - that could be a reason for buying the elise... and with the 192 hp its potent enough i think...

  • yep, the exige is the hardtop version of the elise. Because it has a solid body frame above, there's less movement in the frame, which means that the exige handles better. It also has a different rear, which includes a large spoiler. Also, the exige has more options, including the S version which has 220hp and the 111s version which is track only, and has 256 hp (it has a supercharger).

  • Its not chassis stiffness that MIGHT help the Exige handle better, its aerodynamics. They are both equally stiff bodies. The Exige body generates 100 pounds of downforce at 100mph. The roof and windscreen, in fact, can support very little weight. The sector111 katana supercharger kit can be added to the normally aspirated Elise to make up for some of the hp difference. These cars handle great and are still top shelf in handling.

  • @scytale88 the Exige hardtop is removable just like the Elise. The Exige air scoop looks a bit funny with the roof off though.

  • great clip. glad you posted it. I'm debating whether to pick up an Elise or spend a bit more for the Exige. Thoughts?

  • How much does an Elise cost??? I've been looking but can never find the price!!!

  • $45,000

  • Seriously.. thats it??

  • yep, it's a bargain.

  • You could get a slightly used Elise for around $35k too. And an '05 Elise with more mileage in the low 30's or high 20's.

It's a steal, new or used.

  • Great commercial. Once when I was driving my Elise, some faggot in a Cayman S told me to get a real sports car. LOL.

  • What?! the cayman S is a POS, it's just the less ugly version of the bastard child boxter...tsk tsk. You should have shown him your mighty NA 1.8L I-4 by burning his ass with 100 less bloated ponies. Size only matters when your performance is shit.

  • one of my favorite cars.

the lotus elise and tesla roadster are my favorites =D

  • its a cool car and a cool clip...

the picture with the fat people on the pocket bikes ...haha is nice

  • this is a great advertisement. it defines lotus's view on how a true proformance car should be made. this is what makes lotus the best

  • yeh i got one in my garage, black one they are really good.

  • wow really nice ad

  • saaawweeeeeet. lotus.elise.ftw.

  • closest thing to a supercar under $50 grand, very nice car.

  • Very nice vid man, 5 stars!

  • nice

  • ....my god that's a good commercial.

  • Holy shit, I know, isn't it phenomenal?

  • i picked mine up yesterday,

    Solar Yellow + Sport Package

body of a car, spirit and handling of a go-kart

gonna break in the engine before i start flooring it and taking it to the track

  • Just curious - about what's the break-in time for a new Elise?

  • Give it a break in period of 1000kms. Don't touch the high cam too often during that, keep it under 6400 rpm. Get an oil change at 1000, then slowly start running the car harder for the next 1000kms, inching up to 8500. At 2000kms you're good to go for flat out racing. Had mine at the track a few times now and it's just unreal. Just never let off the throttle in a wet corner, she bites. ;)

  • Amazing, I'm dying to get one.

You registered on EliseTalk? I'm posted there as Shorty111R

If you're not there already, you should signup, definitey the best Elise forum I've come across

  • Cool, thanks. I'll check it out. Haven't felt the 'need' to join any forums yet, at least technical ones, due to the fact that this car actually works all the time. :) My old Esprit turbo was something of a different story hehe. Still an incredible machine though, timeless. That's the problem with Lotuses, after you've driven one nothing else ever feels right.

  • Excuse me, I am curious, how much costan Elisee?

  • I think somewhere around 50k (or even below)

  • they start at something like 42k

  • £20 thousand pounds.

  • Depends on what options you want. One with all the goodies about 40 used 55 new. Go look on ebay.

  • I have a S1 111s . Without doubt the most amazing car I've ever driven or indeed seen. Nothing comes close IMHO. :-)

  • BEST CAR EVER

  • Nice Video, I will own one one day, for the time being I will just have to stick with my Rover Metro which has a Elise 1800 16v solid cam engine in it :D:D

  • song is make a move, lostprophets. tis a bit of class. :)

  • I pick mine up on Friiday :-)

  • Extremely lucky person. What color/options?

  • i pick one up today

  • Awsome ad. Love the car!! love that song, 2 thumbs up.

  • What is the song?

  • Make a move from Lostprophets

  • What an amazing ad, NOW I WANT ONE EVEN MORE!!!

  • Agreed. My favorite car in the world.

  • the reliability issue is still gettin me thoug,i mean mechanics say lotus stands for Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

  • I've owned my Lotus Elise for coming up to 2 and half years now and yes the Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious comment was something that was mentioned to me when I bought mine but I've only heard of problems appearing in this car if is left in the garage pretty much like anything and not driven regularly. I drive mine nearly everyday and LOVE IT still to this day. For the money there is nothing in its class.

  • that was true of the esprits but that was then and this is now

  • I'm from the south, and I've only seen one in my city. I'm living in Japan now, and I've seen only one here. My dad considered buying one, but didn't, but I've pretty much decided that will be the car I buy when I get home. The combination of looks, power, and price, well, it can't be beat.

  • yeah i think ill hav that one, wont bother with the "R", i'll just get the "s"

  • im actually thinking about buying one, cant decide between it and the honda s2000,any recommendations?iv heard they can be quite unreliable

  • Lotus Elise unreliable? It's one of the best handling cars in the world, it's super fast, it's surper light, it has a unique chassis, and it's a hardtop :)

  • Don't bother with the S2k, my sister has one and it's just a slightly better convertible. The Elise though .. prepare to be seduced, as they say. Get the latter.

  • I Have drivin a S2000 and a Elise and its got to be the lotus anyday ok so no elec roof or windows no power steering but the way it shifts it has to be the lotus

  • from the reading ive done the elise has not had any major issues, the drivetrain is made by toyota so you would expect that to be good but so far i do not see complaints about the other components aside from the soft top

  • what a machine, obesity is the enemy,so true, thats why corvettes are so slow, and this thing could probably beat one round a track too, considering the exige beat a roush mustang, which had twice the power and was developed by an company that runs 5 cars in the nextel nascar series

  • Oh my god, that's such a great ad for the Elise! If that aired where I lived, there would be so many more on the road. And you can travel long distances in them. We took ours from Los Angeles, through Arizona, New Mexico and finally up to Santa Fe in a winding one week trip. It was the best trip I've ever been on. Truckers and motorcyclists seem to be the biggest fans of the car.

  • It's the most sincere car ever created. You know you cannot travel long distances, you know the trunk has enough space only for a cheeseburger and a coke and that your butt will ache like hell after hitting a bump. Even so you would still buy it. I know I would. Way to go Lotus!

  • Don't kick when you must punch. Don't punch when you must kick. It is all about efficiency, no matter if its Bruce lee's Jeet Kune do concept or a racing car.

    A perfect ad!

  • Great clip. I love mine for exactly that reason - obesity is the enemy. :-)

  • I think this is the fist car advert i have seen that doesnt lie !

  • Verry nice video :)

  • The car segments make me think it's film from a Lotus meet - a real commercial would have better camera stability.

    Still, awesome vid.

  • Bruce Lee + Lotus!!!! how much more awesomeness can you cram into a Video????

  • I own an Elise, I never even seen a commerical.

  • LOVE IT! The ELISE is probably one of the best car I have ever owned!

  • The BEST car ad I've EVER seen!!!!!

The Bruce Lee bit is absolutely epic.

    I love this car.

  • It's all about agility!

  • sorry about the sound and video quality, youtube must've downgraded it when I uploaded it.
