@MrN00B1N4T3R What, for the world? I did this on a private server, not in single player, so I don't have one. It's not that hard though; the hardest part was distributing redstone repeaters properly to propagate the power, since it won't go more than 15 blocks without one. Repeaters can feed directly into pistons though, which made it easier. (Also the pistons need to be sticky, so they will pull the dirt blocks back down.)
@MrN00B1N4T3R You don't put any repeaters near the water. I actually use the switch backwards - the outer row of pistons have redstone torches under them, disabled by repeaters feeding into the blocks below them. When it goes off, the torches go on, powering the pistons above and repeaters powering the blocks under the inner row of pistons. The same setup is mirrored for the other half of the farm. Here's a wallhack view: i imgur com 3mEMy.jpg (dots before and after imgur and a slash after com)
I've given up on creating stuff right now not a week after I had got the game it updated to 1.8 than 1.9 pre-release already out so can assume 1.9 out soon. And November official release? Lots of starting over heh. So will stick with creative for now redone survival many times over.
@SoCalTactical I built most of this stuff in 1.7, and this is a 1.8 generated world. There's a program called MCEdit that you can use to copy structures and paste them in another world, if you want to start a new world without losing your stuff from the old one.
The only ways I could think of to make it better would be to add a timer of some sort and a way to automatically collect the slices, but that would still leave the issue of re-plowing the places where melons were.
ill try it out but at first i have to get ride off this fucking creepers
