@brianandrewstuart It's a television performance, and of course we're hearing an edited version of the song... but have a closer look, Moon isn't "shadow" drumming. Often the groups actually played the song to the studio audience, while an album track audio cart went to the analog broadcast feed. I know, because I was fortunate to have been in attendance of a couple of these kind of shows back in the day. In this particular case, other than Moon, it does appear that they're miming.
Pete Townsend with an SG. He had numbers on his guitars for a while so you could keep track of how many he smashed. My SG has this tone in spades. I used a BC108 discrete fuzz to get some grit and fuzz. Discrete means no integrated circuits but individual transistors, etc. I bought an Epi Elite Japanese made 1961 SG copy. Sweet. This just made my glad I got it. Mine is a tad rough, but at least the thing is built like a 1960s Gibson minus the USA part. Sadly USA Gibsons went down hill.
@hellyeah393 If CSI brought you here then you don't know your music and asking for thumb's up,it's getting old, almost as old as this classic riff so I suggest you make a comment about the band and not CSI.The Who and all their other classic riff's brought me here, not no stupid TV program, this is music, not TV..It's THUMB"S UP Waldo..lmao..

@hurtfan09 I was thinking just the opposite. They seem to be underrated based on the variety of their over-all bodt of work. From ballads like Behind Blue Eyes to rockers like this and then the maindtream pop like I Can See For Miles. Not bad at all. In their prime they also put on one hell of a live show..
@DDDDQQQQ Whoever Bill Ward is and assuming he is some sort of rock drummer he should get down on his knees and thank Keith moon for being the prototype, the model. After all he has probably dreamed of being Moon all his life.
