  • This is a great cover. Enough said.

  • they kick asss

  • Seriously you're going to talk about Gary's ballerina prancing and fashion, take a good long look at Dave. Dude, I've been a VH fan for 20+ years but it's time to wise up and realize that Dave and Freddy Mercury are cut from the same mold.

  • @hhh5150 Good call

  • If it wasn't for his ballerina prancing and gaylord fashion ( no offence to homosexuals) Gary wouldn't be half bad.

  • hell yeah, I was in VH, and I'll do a song...go Gary

  • VAN HALENⅢ

  • Awesome! Funny watching Pat laughing at 5:52 as Nuno tries to work a bit of Eruption into the solo!

  • sucks!!!!!!! sucks!!!!!!! sucks!!!!!!!!!!. come on gary gimme a break. you couldnt remember the words to this song when i saw you in ny. 1st row eddie and mike yelled at you and you wiped the sweat off your brow in disgust!!!!! thats why you arent there anymore

  • @lennydohler Dude, lighten the fuck up, already! Wow! For what it's worth, I'm the biggest DLR-era VH fan on the planet, and even I can say that Extreme sounds FAR more put together now, than the reunited DLR/VH band as of late. Dave's voice is weak and thin sounding and no offense to Eddie's son, he isn't exactly a great bass player. But then again, Mike Anthony was just plugging along half-drunk to the root note to Eddies chords anyway. So, Michael was certianly no John Paul Jones himself.

  • @1970borntorun Wow... I like Extreme, but to compare them to the reunited Van Halen seems a little, well... Extreme. :)

Van Halen's new album is a shot-heard-'round-the-world -- even Gary said so in Rolling Stone this past week. "Inspiring."

  • does anyone else know that is gary cherone because he was lead singer for extreme before van halen and then went back there after VH

  • wait is that gary cherone?

  • damn that guy's voice is AWESOME!!!

  • Roger, this is garbage, what the f*** was that. this is crap street. This is not even close Mean Street. Clearly you never heard Mean Street. The solo is SO OFF not one note was correct.

  • @Mactube21 Dumbass, the idea isn't to do a carbon copy. It's their own interpretation.

  • dat abs

  • Always some boot-legged video with some dumb drunk chicks screaming....please just shut the fuck up!

  • Excellent!..I always liked Extreme but they came along just a little too late to enjoy the spoils of the decade with all the other great 80's bands..These guys belonged at the top but didn't get their record deal when they should've IMO,cuz we all know that they were slaving their asses off on the Sunset Strip LONG BEFORE they got signed...

..& dig how Nuno slipped in that Hot for Teacher ending....Clever,very clever..;-)

  • Roger Your a fucking dumbass!!!!!!10 times better than Van Halen...whatever dude!!!!

  • If you have to say they are better than Van Halen, you miss the point. So do these guys miss the point. Nuno is a brilliant guitarist (and musician), but no matter how good, they're just going through the motions. They are reruns. Also rans. The very fact you have all these amazingly good clones, but clones just the same, just demonstrates how big VH's coat tails are. Nuno's been way better than this, by the way. Way boring. This is just noise. 6:45 says it all.

  • @jerseystringer: Dude, seriously? Boring? I suppose you think you could do better. I take issue with your clone statement. You can be influenced by someone without being a clone. To be a clone, you have to sound EXACTLY like the person you're copying. Sorry, but if you think Eddie & Nuno sound EXACTLY alike, you need a hearing aid. I'm not the biggest VH fan, but Eddie is a master and his influence on music is undeniable But to say Nuno is an Eddie clone is inaccurate. Sorry.

  • @crazy4nuno Sorry, didn't realize "clone" had to be an EXACTLY EXACTLY exact copy. I thought it implied a strong, derivative similarity, at least in the context of a YouTube comment. I will check the dictionary before posting in the future. I'm not a big VH fan these days but when I go back to some of their best shows, forget lights and production and all that, VH performances come from within. With Nuno & Crew, it's more like a workout, an exercise, with tedious, uninspired solo runs.

  • i'm gonna throw up.....

  • I've heard of this little band that was awesome at harmonizing called The Beatles. They didn't suck either. Extreme ios definitelya great band. They stole the entire Freddie Mercury tribute concert in my opinion.

  • awesome, but gary needs to pull up his pants :)

  • "Fairy Gary" didnt belong in VH ---- but he sounds good here with Nuno

  • Alice In Chains == best harmony ever.

  • Still Gary sounds better then Dave ever could.

  • Damn Nice.

  • some people take it a bit too far with their comments, these guys are just enjoyin jamming one of their heros songs, the same as when they cover zep or kiss, or queen. why? because they are as talanted as f*£k and because they can!!

  • sorry beach boys win the harmonizing battle over those 3 bands, lol serious go listen

  • @evelskunny you can add the eagles their harmonies are amazing as well love the beach boys too problem is most on here were not born when they were on top oh and Steely dan has some tricky harmonies..

  • @TallonIV776V OK, but you forgot Queen...

  • @ILoveCurves88 Only Queen? he forgot over 10 bands that should be mentioned when Harmonizing is being relevant

  • That bridge gave me cold chill's!!!

  • YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How da F#CK do these guys stay in such great shape?

  • Some of my favorite guitarists have the worst frontmen-Nuno, DeMartini.......I think it's about stage presence and other intangibles. It's tough to find a good RELIABLE singer who actually has a great voice. You kinda have to pick the best fit. Any gigging musicians will know this.

  • @MrMatthewLeo

And I mean no disrespect to Cherone, because he does great work. He just comes across as queer-but-trying-to-hide-it-and-be-badass, and it's uncomfortable.

  • @MrMatthewLeo. I know you're not the only one who says that. I just don't see it. He's just who he is. He's actually a very nice guy, and if you ever met him you would agree with me. He's an honest, humble guy. Oh yeah, not a half bad singer, either. LOL.

  • @thisischavez

I never said he wasn't a nice guy! It's just his style is kinda weird up there, but then again, how many rock singers have odd mannerisms? Tons of them! I think maybe it's the Freddie Mercury influence coming out.

  • i like gary but unfortunately he is so off when he sings 85% of the time..

  • Awesome! well done!!!!!

  • i was front row at this freaking concert. hands down best show I ever saw in my life. Even topped seeing Van Halen (three times with Roth and Sammy). I used to think Eddie Van Halen was the best guitarist in the world but he won't get his head out of ass and people are starting to play his own damn songs better than him. Nuno is a world class guitar player and Extreme is just an amazing band in general. Well done

  • And this, ladies and gentlemen, is how a git-tar is played!

  • PULL UP YOUR GODDAMNED PANTS !!!

  • extreme always did the best covers i have ever heard!!

  • Um. I have a feeling that Gary wants a block up somewhere........

  • That was fucking awesome! 10 X's better than Van Halen will ever be able to play it again. These guys deserve to be so much bigger than they are/were.

  • @Roger8176 WRONG!

  • @Roger8176 Listen ass wipe, I am talking about the SOLO, lot of guys on you tube did the solo incorporating Eddie's sound but with their own style is better, least he got the beginning and mid section right.

  • Badass cover by a badass band. Gary and Nuno rock.

  • So f*ck*ng gooooooooooooooood!!!

...they're dancin' down on mean street! Dance Baby!

  • i hated this band back in the day....but this is a great cover on a great song!!!!!!

  • GREAT!!!

  • Best bands at harmonizing: Extreme, Duran Duran, Def Leppard

  • @TallonIV776V I only know one Duran Duran song, but I totally agree! Might as well add Mr. Big and Kansas while you're at it.

  • @TallonIV776V Don't forget Queen and Bon Jovi.

  • @TallonIV776V

If you think that's good harmonizing, the Beach Boys will blow your mind.

In hard rock, check out King's X.

  • @TallonIV776V Van Halen is up there too. Michael Anthony is the best at harmonizing period.

  • @TallonIV776V Don't forget Van Halen.

  • Nuno is BEAST ---- Cherone.....ehh, not so much

  • @Hunkola get outa here, gary made a hell of an album with van halen

  • @TheSupersabby Is that why Van Halen 3 is their LOWEST SELLING ALBUM? It's just a crappy, experimentalism album. Cherone's a great singer, but he didn't fit with Van Halen

  • @cford1992 it doesnt matter if it sells well, i dont care about that, i care about the music and it was good, dirty water dog, fire in the hole, without u, one i want, year to the day, ballet or the bullet, allot of kick ass songs

  • @TheSupersabby I agree that VH3 has a lot of good songs! I went to the tour and they sounded great with Gary singing and the place was packed. Plus they did songs from every era and pulled it all off beautifully. The only downside was the opening band sucked.

  • CHERONE STILL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Davey28car. Another hater. Sorry, brother. He rocks.

  • @thisischavez I dont hate him. he just sucks! He cant write music worth a damn (which was shown in VAN HALEN 3) I mean what else is there to say. Now he is more successful than I am so, he does have that going for him. I wish I made the money he has made. Not hating on him, just my opinion man.

  • @Davey28car. A good reply. While I disagree with you, I respect your thoughts now.

  • Nuno's on Fire

  • nuno got a small man complex.......

  • Pretty good, but not even close to VH

  • Woooooow!!! This is the Extreme I remember.

  • I wouldn't fuck with Gary

  • I used to like Extreme until I met Nuno after a gig we played a gig together on the same bill in Hollywood. Not only was he a cocky little fucker (literally), but he hit on my wife about 5 minutes after I introduced them. Stay classy you little douchebag.

  • @TJS518 that doesn't surprise me, awesum guitarist but looks like a wee fucker, lol. i heard gary is a great guy though.

  • cherone should stick to the lovey dovey stuff and leave the heavy to the heavies

  • Iif i could play guitar i sweep everybody from this planet

  • Sorry, I take it back, I found a great version of Gary doing Mean Street with VH. Both are good, but in different ways. I still prefer this Extreme version. Holy smokes, Nuno sounds better & better the more you listen to this !

  • I DON'T GET IT. I just watched Gary (who I'm a fan of) do Mean Street with Van Halen (1998), & it was crap. Gary funk-ized the song & it was largely forgettable. But THIS version Kicks Ass ! His vocals convey the urgency / desperation of the lyrics, & he actually SINGS instead of rapping & farting about. And Nuno's guitaring is just AWESOMELY SICK. I prefer him over Eddie in the versions I watched (esp. that outro .... Holy sh*t !) I wish Gary had performed like this while in VH !!

  • wtf is the singer wearing? dude i cant believe they let that guy in Van Halen......

  • @MrBadchoice101

Dude have you seen what Roth wears on stage Gary was the coolest looking of the 3 i think.

Alot of people are going to be angry at this but i think Gary sounded the best in Van Halen because Roth sounds drunk as hell all the time(on rare occasions he was good) and sammy coulden't pull off the old songs but i really like him in chickenfoot.

  • @007theAlien

yeah roth in the 70's ok the clothing was understandable.

  • @007theAlien yr right , he was better singing the roth songs then hagar , Cherone was damn good , just he seemed to screech to much with vh

  • a bit of eruption, nice wink !

  • This must be what it feels like to witness one of Christ's Miracles.

  • Perfect, just PERFECT cover!!! The vocals, the guitar - everything is spot on! :)

But of course, David Lee Roth is godlike as a frontman!

  • Perfect, just PERFECT cover!!! The vocals, the guitar - everything is spot on! :)

  • Went to Mass to see VH with Gary... horrible. Got better when he threw his voice and I was forced to go home early.

  • That dude needs to pull up his pants...and lose the fag vest

  • Comment removed

  • @tittyj2020 Yeah. Gary single-handedly ruined VH!

  • very very nice

  • @YodaVanHalen I would say that he is EWddies successor. Unfortunately Eddie is a bit past his best now.

  • someone should have slapped them bitches screaming.

  • MAKE THE GIRLS STOP SCREAMING DX

  • Nuno rules! It's sad that I prefer this to any recent actual 'Van Halen' performance of the same song. Extreme actually tried to play it like the album version!

  • I like how Nuno puts his own spin on the solos. I get a bit bbored of the vids whewre people play exactly like Eddie - although I acknowledge the skill that goes into making those videos.

  • there skinny as hell..do they not eat?

  • @metachozo they eat, they must just be on crack lol idk

  • @metachozo you must be Italian

  • @RockenDokkenlover91 im american...nicer esaoning skills serlock~

  • nuno played a crazy ass peice of music in bill and teds exellent adventure,

  • Nuno just an outta this world kick ass Rock and Roll guitar player!!! Awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • These guys are so underrated its criminal! Nuno is a monster player! Yes, it is a shame this wasn't on the DVD, but the DVD is still amazing without it. Definitely one of the best concert videos that I've seen. Thank You for posting this!

  • I was so mad that this wasn't on the Take Us Alive DVD that they put out. I was at this show. It was amazing. I can't believe that it wasn't on the live dvd :(

  • gary charone use to sing for Van Halen

  • @marccoolguy Yeah, he did. But he didn't fit in with them.

  • Gary is a mix of Dave and Sam (more like 90% Dave 10% Sam) and that's why he really blended good with Van Halen. Probably one of the best covers out there!!

  • @KISSAceGenePaulPete1 ...with just a pinch of Freddie Mercury thrown in for showmanship.

  • This is what I really hate about live recordings: the chicks always scream when the good part starts. But other than that, I could tell that this cover is one of the best I've heard other than the actual song itself.

  • YOU NEED TO HAVE A LOT OF SWAGGER TO PLAY THIS SONG --- ROTH HALEN HAD IT..........EXTREME DOES NOT

  • @Hunkola wrong, Roth is a fucking clown

  • @taypax You're wrong, Roth kicks the shit out of Hagar AND Cherone

  • @cford1992 i read that Roth likes boys

  • @taypax No you're thinking of Michael Jackson, because I read that Dave has fucked more bitches than any guy commenting on this video COMBINED

  • @cford1992 this is from from groupie dirt...he went both ways

"Maybe that's because David is rumored to be now be more interested in California boys than California girls."

  • @taypax I would agree except there's a key word: RUMORED

  • @Hunkola : Whatever. Jealous cuz you can't jam this song? You're probably just another one of those Van Halen freaks who hated Gary cuz he wasn't Dave or Sammy. Nuno could wipe the stage with Eddie on a bad day, so keep deluding yourself.

  • @crazy4nuno --- LOL, Eddie changed the music world with his playing.......he was innovative and bad ass.......Nuno is just a sucka pussy who copied all of Eddie's moves........grow a brain, asswipe

  • @Hunkola Hehehe....a "sucka pussy"? Good grief.

  • @Hunkola Hey man, obviously you're not a fan of Extreme, but really, it's feasible to say that any metal guitar player from 1979 onwards could be said to be a rip-off of EVH. I'd also have to disagree with you about innovation. I can't say I know many other metal bands that incorporated so much rhythm and groove into their playing.

  • @Hunkola Eddie is amazing don't get me wrong, but you can't say Nuno is just a VH copy, because yeah sure he was influenced by Eddie's shred techniques but I'm sorry, Eddie could not think up the stuff that Nuno does, I've never seen a better hard rock songwriter than Nuno.

  • @Fendershred50 Not taking anything away from Nuno but he resorts to the same old licks from other songs. He's not a catalog of riffs like people believe. The second half of this solo is from Cupid's Dead then finishes it up with an Ed tremolo picking climb. He never strays far from the recorded versions of his own songs. Eddie hardly ever played the same solo twice. Nuno's own engineer said it took him 5 hours to get solos down. Brilliant musician but no way is he on the level of Ed.

  • @darkknight91 I see what you mean, and I do agree, live I would say that Ed probably is better, but I'm sorry, in studio, like songwriting and stuff like that, I've never seen a better hard rock guitarist than Nuno. But opinion is opinion right?

  • @Fendershred50 Sure, opinion is opinion, but other than More Than Words, Extreme has nothing but a bunch of forgettable songs. Their albums have not aged well and in general are forgotten. I can name you classic song after classic song of VH's catalog. Nuno is a good musician and visionary. I wouldn't say so much with his songwriting and Gary's lyrics are as silly as any. I enjoyed Pornograffiti when it came out but listening to it now gives me a headache.

  • @darkknight91 Once again, I mean, that's opinion. Personally I think Extreme's Three Sides to Every Story album should be one of the most memorable of all time, but that's my opinion! And yes I could also name countless great VH songs, I love them too! But I understand how you feel about Extreme, they're really a love or hate em' band.

  • @darkknight91 yeah no ED , but brilliant none the less

  • @Hunkola Nobody does but the original Van Halen

  • Nuno is the best rock guitarist in the world - this cover is nothing comparing the insane playing he does in Extreme songs

  • Awesome cover! Tight too.

  • Great cover. Nuno is one of the BEST guitarists i have listined to. he's is great on vocals too. he has some of the best hair/arms i've seen on a guitarist. :P not to mention he's totally HOTT. he's just an all around AMAZING musician.

  • Ripped like George Lynch, better to be addicted to exercise than drugs ;)

Who's on Drums? Doesn't look like Mike Mangini.

  • @PillowMethod Kevin Figueiredo on drums...he was in Satellite Party with Nuno

  • @YodaVanHalen Too bad so few people realize it. Seriously, I think he's one of the best 50 musicians of the last 50 years. He is incredibly talented

  • Gary Cherone was fantastic in VH. VH III is NOT one of my favorite albums though. The songs were fine, I just thought that the production sucked. (that's what you get when you hire a friend- Ed's golf buddy Mike Post) Live Cherone, really put his own stamp on the VH classics. Shame we couldn't see what else they could have done with him in the band but I'm thrilled that Extreme put out another cd and tour. Here's hoping there's more

  • Awesome cover : )

  • Awesome cover : )

  • Nice to see this. This song is NOT included on the new "Take Us Alive" cd/dvd.

  • What a great band !!! I'm so glad they're back !!!! We need greatness like these guys !!!

  • gary looks like a gay pirate.

  • Nuno is definitely a MUCH better guitarist than EVH at this point in time - if fact he's currently one of the best in the business. Gary is also WAY underrated as a frontman.

  • they are so effing ripped jesus

  • nice

  • Sofa King Awesome!

  • Awesome!

  • Cherone is legend easily beaten by nuno :D

  • ---Kösszi !---

  • This has got to be the best Van Halen cover on YouTube, only countin bands

  • Nuno is brilliant as always, but Cherone is trying way too hard.

  • I agree. Nuno is genius! the best rock guitarist hands down! but Cherone is hard to watch.. he is embarassing himself. i just wish extreme could have hooked up with a different singer.

  • Nuno!

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • Comment removed

  • wtf its like spot on O.o

  • Nuno's the Man, I just dont like Extreme.

  • I don't like Cherone.

  • amen ! its tragic that Nuno had to be paired up with him.

  • Nuno is a Monster !

  • all of these still have it

  • Funny thing about this is they sound better doing this song than the current Van Halen.

  • Very nice! Gary rocks when he's not trying to sound like Sammy Hagar.

  • Rockin the hip huggers and shirtless vest eh Gary? Someone in the band should have had a chat with him before they went on stage about that.

  • David Lee Roth is one of the coolest dudes to walk the planet. He's just naturally cool. Even if he was never in Van Halen he'd be badass. He's influenced as many frontmen as Eddie has influenced guitarists. You can be a talented singer but you HAVE to be COOL to be a rock star. That's what DLR is.

  • Something epic-er?

    Extreme covering Unchained.

  • Awesome vidoe quality Chariot54...(so getting stolen) :D

  • I am cool!

    The best! !
