My favorite band since i was 15, now i'm 31 and they're keep getting better! Supporting case was very good record, but i think these guys can come with something real BIG next time. They're now in their prime time.
I think youthbytes is saying work hard and save some cash to buy shit like guitars out right. There's a difference in building credit and going on a spending spree with a credit card. If I need gas in my car, I put it on my credit card. If I want a new lens for my camera, I save money and buy it out right.
@firemusic82 payment plans at a minimum monthly payment are a system to keep you hooked for the rest of your life, do the math, its not a myth, its true
These dudes in propagandhi are middle aged men. If the don't have $1000 they have problems. $1000 isn't much money these days people. The band is their means of income. They must be making some money if they tour the globe. I don't care if they have millions. They still play sick tunes.
Never seen these guys play live, they rarely (i.e. never) play my area of the planet, but as someone who has gotten a lot slower (mentally too, I guess) in the past 15+ years, I can't not be in awe of Canada's finest (except for Voivod, of course).
@jrack13 are you off your head who cares if they are playing 1k guitars why would you judge them on that? Funny enough when you make good music you can afford good guitars and kit etc....are you doubting that they donate money and put alot of hard work into good cuases cause they play gibsons? douche`
@jrack13 some people own thousand dollar guitars and a box to sleep in. and if you make a million dollars playing rock n' roll whats the problem. its not like they drown children for a living.
newsflash: Propagandhi made A LOT of money for a DIY punk band in the 90s punk explosion. They've also given a shitload of money, and personal time back to many good causes.
But what do I know, I got a second job to save money and bought a $1400 half stack. I guess that makes me a poseur.
@robbykills do you want me to give you a medal or something? or better yet here's a pat on the back! (Pats you on back) good job bud! keep on keepin on
@jrack13 I work part-time minimum wage. I have a $1400 Gibson SG and I sure as hell didn't have $1400 to put down on it right on the spot.
It's called financing...as long as you have a credit card any larger music store will do it. If you're serious about being a band you'll sacrifice it all, everything you have, debt, etc... for good equipment.
It's kind of hard to take YOU seriously when you don't even know what musicians do for instruments.
@GeinTheButcher666 dude honestly, thats the worst advice ever, fuck credit cards, and fuck payment plans, save up, work hard, buy used, fuck the big music stores.
@youthbytes805 well guess what Einstein that's how you're gonna build credit. Unless you plan on renting from a landlord the rest of your life and never really having a house to call your own.
The typical punk by the book mentality will only get you so far.
...playing guitar that fast must be hard enough. Having two people playing the same shit together must take loads of practice. Watch Beaver and Chris's hands. They are so spot on together.
these guys just keep on improving themselves. they have a great mixed style of hardcore, metal and thrash and molded it to their own style. Along with their take on society and lyrics this is one of the best bands around.
Supporting Caste doesn't need any more than 1 listen to know it shreds. These dudes know how to play their instruments. And they play shit that appeals to me big time. Super talented band.
Being a musician myself... I cannot understand how manages to thrash like that on the guitar while singing at the same time?!!! For those of you who don't play instruments, playing an instrument while singing is like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time. You're focusing your mind on 2 separate things and it's definitely something not easy to do at all. I practice all the time and it's hard as shit even playing something easy. Let alone a song as complex as this.
@81Christian311 yeah, it's pretty mindblowing. Don't get me wrong, Chris Hannah gets lots of appreciation, and Propagandhi is definitely a "bands-band" but on the grand scope of things I feel he is criminally under appreciated.
@sk8r0915 start out with the album "Supporting caste", it's in my opinion the greatest album made since Tool put out Aenima back in 97! It may require a few listens till you totally get it, but definitely give it multiple plays!!!
It is equality of OPPORTUNITY: elimination of privilege created by class, heredity, geography, etc. Elimination of predation by the greedy and exploitative, such as under capitalism. Elimination of consumerism and its replacement with a way of life that can actually fulfil human needs rather than brushing them under the carpet with another useless product or another few thousand pounds. What’s ro rational about pursuing wealth over all else? Ayn Rand was scary, and her worst followers are worse.
@SSSMforlife1 It's like they have no historical or even contemporary perspective or context for the things they are talking about. Look up Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, and Ayn Rand if you're really interested. Just one man's opinion, that's all.
@chevillian2 Hell no, I wouldn't waste time with some fiction love story dumbed down crap like Atlas Shrugged. But "The virtue of Selfishness", and "An introduction to Objectivist Epistemology" and her other non-fiction books are great imo.
@honestactionfilms Egalitarianism is very malignant philosophy. Equal protection under the law is the only viable form of litigated equality. Anything else is a disaster in practice. Not everyone is equal. Some are taller, some stronger, some are beautiful, some not so much, some more skilled in one way some more skilled in another. When people lose sight of this be it from envy or pity it has always turned out bad.
@BrianCardova people are different i understand that. but finding every one equal even in their differences is wrong ideology? is that what your sayin?
@honestactionfilms ? What kind of asshole thinks everyone is equal? And what's wrong with differences? I like the differences and variety. Do you want everything to be chicken or wouldn't you like to have fish or beef sometimes?
@BrianCardova@BrianCardova the whole world has differences not 2 fish or plants or anything are exactly alike so what is your point? racism focuses on diferences (skin color) while never thinking of equality (there still human just like me) so i really dont understand your arguement.
@BrianCardova “Not everyone is equal. Some are taller, some stronger, some are beautiful, some not so much, some more skilled in one way some more skilled in another.”
Pure misrepresentation. Egalitarianism is NOT enforced equality: of goods (e.g. enforced poverty in state capitalism masquerading as “socialism”), occupation, or anything. It is not a case of “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.” No: diversity is to be cherished and nurtured—but through true freedom, NOT consumerist BS.
@FuelledByHamish "Equal protection under the law is the only viable form of litigated equality."
Consumerism is expanded by voluntary participation and guided by the democratic participation in the market. I'm not pro consumerism or against it so much, but it's merely a reflection of the people that participate in it.
Egalitarianism is a philosophy not a political system but any political system that incorporates egalitarianism uses force. Now what exactly is your definition of true freedom?
@BrianCardova That’s a fault of politics, not egalitarianism. And besides, any supposedly egalitarian ‘system’ (as if those two words can be reconciled) that used force would be advertising itself as a load of cobblers. Consumerism is voluntary only insofar as it requires that people be indoctrinated into it from birth. That’s still coercion. The market is about as democratic as anything else that exists only to perpetuate and amplify itself.
