Tom Cruise may not be the most VERSATILE actor of his generation, but definitely has the most impressive RESUME of his generation. Thumbs up if you agree.
@cinemapsycho91 Ford Coppolla, Riddle Scott,Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone,Sidney Pollack, Neil Jordan, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spilberg,Brian DePalma, Paul Thomas Anderson, Michael Mann,....who could beat that set of directors? funny though, the bigger he gets the less interesting his acting gets....his early works are his best (Magnolia and Tropic Thunder are excellent though)
@cinemapsycho91 Shame that he wants us to believe that we get sick because 75 million years ago an alien overlord threw dissidents into volcanoes and nuked them and their ghosts attach to our bodies.
@420yendal On the contrary, rationalism is exciting. On the other hand, it must be pretty sad to be repeatedly told that you would be able to fly or teleport or be immortal, if only you would pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in auditing to get rid of body thetans.
@DevilMaster - I've never been told that in my life... and you're full of shit. After what you just said, i think you're just one of those people that takes it in one ear and lets it out the other.. anyways fuck yourself please and thanks.
@cinemapsycho91 How exactly do you believe Tom Cruise to not be very versatile? Both his resume AND his performances show a great dexterity in both genre and character. It's only because of Mission Impossible that he's been at all classified as a character actor. Try imagining what he would have become as an actor if the MI franchise had not steered him down that particular marketing path and I guarantee you will find a man who would have blown his generation out of the water >:[
@wenenen Versatility is found in the actor's portrayal of many different kinds of characters, not in the different genres of films he's in. And it is safe to say that he has experimented with all movie genres. But as far his versatility as an actor goes, no matter what character he plays, it's that same "ticking time bomb, short-fused, ranting, Tom Cruise" delivery.
@cinemapsycho91 The part where I argued your comment was the part where I disagreed with your opinion. I personally don't see that "Mr. Action-packed" Cruise in all of his performances. The point I was conveying is that this "ticking time bomb" persona that people put on him is ONLY there because of his career in the action genre. I'm convinced that had he turned down "MI" his "branch out" performances would have been received with less bias and proven a more universal success
@wenenen I understand. I never said that he was "Mr. Action Packed" with ALL of his performances. But, yes, the action/adventure/thriller part of his career has taken over for the most part. Overall, I do think that there is some talent to him as an actor.

Don't listen to the disinformants in here trying to dissuade people from the stone cold truth. Kubrick purposely placed many cryptic allusions and coded anecdotes within his films, everything is there for a reason-the man was extremely meticulous and very clever; 'clever' in a way that he could get the truth out without risking his own immediate personal safety. Satanic secret societies control this planet. Kubrick knew this, and tried to expose this fact in his films. Google Jay Weidner

I adore this film. I find it both mesmerising and shocking all at once. The dreamlike nature of the film just pulls you in everytime you watch it and you feel lost in it.Thank you Stanley Kubrick RIP.
NO ILLUMINATI, THIS IS JUST AN UNDERGROUND QUASI RELIGIOUS CULT WHO HAVE ORGIES AND SEXUAL RITUALS!!! OK?!?!? And no, I won't spoil the ending for you.
Ok seriously people????? Stop with the illuminati bullshit and come back to planet earth. Also stop pushing your stupid conspiracy theories onto videos that have NOTHING to do with them.
This trailer is so misrepresentative of the actual film, this is exactly the reason why so many people didn't like it. Aslo why does everyone think that the secret society depicted must be the Illuminati? Can't it just be a vague general indirect reference to so group of extremely powerful people? And for those who think the Illuminati had Mr Kubrick killed, firstly what benefit would it have killing him? The film was still released. Also, he was pretty old, doesn't have to be murder!
Lol, the website is surprisingly still up from '99. It doesn't play the spots (at least on my PC), though.
I remembering seeing this when I was like 12/13 for the naked women, but oddly enough, I ended up being fascinated with the movie because it was NOT cheapened by crude sex scenes, but eroticism (even though didn't know what that meant at the time). This movie, along with all of Kubrick's, has really evolved from my initial appreciation of it into something much deeper and intriguing.
I am as handsome as Cruise but for some reason I had trouble finding someone at my same beaulty level to have sex. I'm not that shy... could someone help me out?
@lotr450 its sad that anyone would go through such lengths to analyze a movie. this movie is definitely not about the illuminati and it doesnt really refer to anyone.
i don't want to get too involved in your arguments regarding the illuminati but i'd just like to say i back you up
100 %.
my grandparents were masons (from the same side). my grandmother was in the order of the eastern star and my grandfather was a high ranking mason who had ties with the illuminati.
it's a sad thing that so many people in this world are deluded and blind. and it worries me truly.
@RideMyBMW Yes, he was indeed. And the saddest part about that is that this film was critically panned and didn't open anybody's eyes. Most of the masses are just content with living within the illusion, within the matrix. They are content with living as slaves or cattle. Some hero's just die in vain or for the very few.
I can't believe the highest rated comment here is a freaking bullshit conspiracy theory...Anyway, this film was excellent. One of my favorite movies ever...
@lotr450 this movie has nothing to do with the illuminati. Its an interpretation of the german book "Traumnovelle" by Arthur Schnitzler. And I dont think Kubrick was killed because he "exposed these occult societies". Those are just some rich ppl who want to live out their horny fantasies. Read the book. Its about wild fantasies and dreams.
Stanley Kubrick was such a genius. He may have only made 13 features but inspired people like Woody Allen, Scorsese and so many others. The music, everything about his films- showing the dark side of humanity- A true artist.
A fascinating film. Just as A.I is based upon Pinnochio, Eyes Wide Shut is an adult use of the Wizard of Oz as Tom Cruise takes the yellow cab down the road to where the rainbow ends and finds that when the mask comes off, the mighty wizard is a frail and frightened man underneath. Nicole Kidman brilliantly takes off the mask she wears in the relationship and this unnerves our hero. When he sees his own mask is on her pillow, literally, he too finally opens up. Honesty in marriage, Mr.Kubrick?
@CrazyPerson03832 No it was Warner's fault they cut out all the good stuff from the movie oryginaly it was about Mind controll program that takes palce in the US there were many hardcore scenes with Nicole beeing brainwashed but Warner cut out all thouse scenes and Kubrick died or was killed
I am in love with this movie now. Originally it was my most un-liked Kubrick, but after watching it again I can really appreciate the structure, and feel it demonstrates.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuck kubrick...he pissed over the culture of a countrie's culture....the song played in the backgroung while people were having sex orgies in the movies are in my native language..I pisss over his grave for that..
The best kubrick masterpieces to me,are both entertaining AND thought-provoking.I would consider the killing, paths of glory,dr.strangelove, the shining and full metal jacket to be kubricks best films.I would consider Lolita,2001,clockwork orange, barry lyndon and eyes wide shut as near masterpieces.Powerful, memorable, original but just not as gripping as the 5 aformentioned films,to me.I think kubrick is the greatest american filmmaker
@IrgendwelcheGurken you should tell your English teacher it's based off of a fantastic novella by Arthur Schnitzler. The only differences in the film are the time (present day, not early 20th century) and the place (New York, not Vienna). The themes of double lives and the struggle to tell dream from reality are things I'm sure any english teacher would appreciate. Just because it's naughty doesn't mean it isn't brilliant or intellectual
@IrgendwelcheGurken Look on youtube there is an interviev with a guy that knew Kubrick wery well and made a documentary about him , the guy said that Kubrick smoked 15 ciggarets on the "Elite only" preemere of the movie to finaly hear that they didnt like the movie and many sceens need to be cut out , Kubrick didnt agree and died the next day , the movie was oryginaly about "MIND CONTROL" There were scenes With nicole beeing brainwashed like alex in kubricks" a clockwork orange" FUCK WB!!
This movie was about the illuminati. Stanley Kubrick died shortly after viewing this film to Warner Brothers Studios because he exposed these occult societies. That is no coincidence. It was called "Eyes Wide Shut" for a reason. Thumbs up to let people wake up from their ignorance.

CrazyPerson03832 9 months ago
@CrazyPerson03832 No it was Warner's fault they cut out all the good stuff from the movie oryginaly it was about Mind controll program that takes palce in the US there were many hardcore scenes with Nicole beeing brainwashed but Warner cut out all thouse scenes and Kubrick died or was killed

I am in love with this movie now. Originally it was my most un-liked Kubrick, but after watching it again I can really appreciate the structure, and feel it demonstrates.
Schlumberjack101 9 months ago
@Schlumberjack101 That's how a lot of Kubrick's films are. The more you see them, the better they get.

@saqibk1 cool mate, my TOP FIVE is "slightly" different:
1 - DR. STRANGELOVE
2 - CLOCKWORK ORANGE
3 - THE SHINING
4 - BARRY LYNDON
5 - 2001 - A SPACE ODISSEY
eurekabach 9 months ago
@eurekabach Good top five list also The Killing and Paths Of Glory are great, what do you think about Roman Polanski?
saqibk1 9 months ago
The best kubrick masterpieces to me,are both entertaining AND thought-provoking.I would consider the killing, paths of glory,dr.strangelove, the shining and full metal jacket to be kubricks best films.I would consider Lolita,2001,clockwork orange, barry lyndon and eyes wide shut as near masterpieces.Powerful, memorable, original but just not as gripping as the 5 aformentioned films,to me.I think kubrick is the greatest american filmmaker

IrgendwelcheGurken 9 months ago
@IrgendwelcheGurken you should tell your English teacher it's based off of a fantastic novella by Arthur Schnitzler. The only differences in the film are the time (present day, not early 20th century) and the place (New York, not Vienna). The themes of double lives and the struggle to tell dream from reality are things I'm sure any english teacher would appreciate. Just because it's naughty doesn't mean it isn't brilliant or intellectual
hopiigirl 9 months ago
