It's the power of the mind, which is what caused the others to get sick to begin with, thus is we only apply the willpower and mind not to give in the illness we shall not get sick, and if the principal can be applied to death we will never die or age its limitless on how the mind both kills but cures us.

@nesyl1 They believed they were sick and dying thus they got sick and died. They believed they were getting better so they did. Dilbert did not get sick because he believed he wouldn't therefore he didn't.

There are hundreds of cases were peole diagnosed with Cancer, AIDS, and even fatal gun shot wounds survived because they had no doubt that they were going to pull through, Mr. T is actually a well fundementalist in the idea of self image. That is how he was able to beat cancer by setting himself above the disease.
