Doug took over Satch's teaching but also has a couple of cd's out. It was he that inspired kirk Hammet on to Satch from his guitar playing. I enjoy Doug's playing very much. He is incredible live and if any one here gets a chance to see him live i suggest you check him out. I stay in contact with Doug off and on by email and i always get a email back from him even if he is busy. He has gave me advise and has mailed stuff to me at his cost. Mr. Doppler is a class act on and off the stage...
I could listen to Doug play all day! Thank you sooo much for posting these vids. His playing is tasty, and he seems like the nicest guy on the planet. Satch picked the right guy to take over his shop!

There seems to be a pattern with regards to many of the negative commentators. They are either obsessed with homosexuality, penises, or failing. None of these things has any relevance to this video. I have found that these commentators have posted no videos of their own, but have viewed thousands. I welcome them to post video responses proving how superior their talent to be. Didn't mean to blast you dude. The only part I didn't like about the video taping was how it kept going extremly close up on his face instead of staying at a good distance so you can see what he's doing. There was a couple times while he was really shredding that the camera zooms in and focuses on his facial expressions rather than his playing. To me there's no need to zoom in that close. There's no problem with zooming in, just not so it cuts everything else out. Just my two cents bro.

Jesumaria. There were parts of this that seriously looked like the video had been fast forwarded. Doug is definitely not your typical shredder. Although comparable to other shredders in attack and speed, his innovative use of more blues oriented phrasing, as well as his application of heavy effects and frantic whammy-bar antics, helps set him above other shredders to whom he is so inappropriately compared--like Chet Atkins, for instance.

There were musicians prior to Atkins and possibly, critics that felt his approach was not to their liking.
i enjoy listening to doug, i played at a conference with him, if you follow thru to my link you'll see my style, feel free to comment. but the pure guitar of utilizing all fingers of the right hand to create a song unassisted in any way, uncluttered is very hard to accomplish, my and dougs style is one of the easiest to emulate, even vai says that emmanuel and dykes are feaks of nature and very difficult to recreate

It just makes it more aggresive not easier to play. If you suck at playing in clean YOU WILL SUCK AT PLAYING IN DISTORTION PERIOD.
ya but the idea is if you practice with distortion you might not hear that your making certain mistakes...it just hard to hear everything with distortion on so practicing clean and performing with distortion fixes the problem
You drive two hours. You give a clinic to help other guitar players get better. A clip gets posted on YouTube. You get a nice flow of rather unkind comments from a guy who claims to have played at a conference with you. You note that this person seems to have searched for your videos and has a number of unsavory things to say about your playing across the YouTube site. You encrouage that person to use their passion for music constructively by helping other musicians develop their talents...
Doug IS phenomenal...I'm lucky enough to have tix to catch him open up for Michael Schenker in Dallas. I was thinking they should flip a coin to see who goes on last!

Much of the phase that you are hearing is from the compression from uploading. Plus, the audio wasn't remixed from the two sources before posting.
I don't see the connection between Chet Atkins and Doug Doppler though.

i enjoy listening to doug, i played at a conference with him, if you follow thru to my link you'll see my style, feel free to comment. but the pure guitar of utilizing all fingers of the right hand to create a song unassisted in any way, uncluttered is very hard to accomplish, my and dougs style is one of the easiest to emulate, even vai says that emmanuel and dykes are feaks of nature and very difficult to recreate

technology has allowed these called good player to hide behind walls of distortion, phasers and flangers. give doug an acoustic, jazzbox with no distortion, or flamenco and ask him to post something coherent

dude srsly..... Distortion isnt the easiest thing to manage and it doesnt make everything easier.. Id like to see you play malmsteen stuff and Dragonforce stuff and sonota arctica stuff. Oh whats that. YOU CANT! AND JESUS CHRIST!! Jimi hendrix used distortion BIG FUCKING TIME!!! PAGE even used it then theirs SRV EVERYONE USES DISTORTION!!! It just makes it more aggresive not easier to play. If you suck at playing in clean YOU WILL SUCK AT PLAYING IN DISTORTION PERIOD.

ya but the idea is if you practice with distortion you might not hear that your making certain mistakes...it just hard to hear everything with distortion on so practicing clean and performing with distortion fixes the problem

You drive two hours. You give a clinic to help other guitar players get better. A clip gets posted on YouTube. You get a nice flow of rather unkind comments from a guy who claims to have played at a conference with you. You note that this person seems to have searched for your videos and has a number of unsavory things to say about your playing across the YouTube site. You encrouage that person to use their passion for music constructively by helping other musicians develop their talents...
