  • don't you think grain is actually the nice thing about super8? That the real texture of filmstock becomes visible. I guess not, cause I see almost no grain at all in your films.

  • i love grain i just do not like video noise and dirt which is what you get with a lot of film to tape transfers.

anyone can shoot super 8 and make it look bad or should i say artistic, check out goldfrapp clowns video.

i used to want my stuff to be photographic and the best quality possible leave the out of focus grainy art to others.

  • @antiochus66 I see what you mean, I'm really not at that point yet where I have full control about the super8 image. When I got some full HD telecine back I was very impressed with the quality, but I didn't like it and destroyed the image quality to some degree. How much color correction do you do btw? Or is that also part of good shooting?

  • well this job was super low budget, light was sunny then overcast..

with good grade in the telecine you can do quite a lot.

because not a lot was available for colour correction you will see some variations in shots.

this could have looked really nice with an hour extra tweaking.

good technique will cut down post work...

  • you should enter this in this year's Cambridge super 8 festival, mate.

  • thanks but the quality of my super 8 work is not up to the cambridge high standards : )

  • @antiochus66 good job though :)

  • That was lovely.
