Hopefully with the game being less about "hey my guilds leet and we raid here why you farm peons" and more about all contributing to downing epic events by working together, the social conduct should remain helpful and less likely to spawn trolls as time goes by. Unlike many other MMO's
best thing about GW gameplay was its BALANCED PvP. It's probably one of the most balanced competitive multiplayer experiences besides the current Street fighter 4.
Yes, SSF4. Haha I'm not a huge fighting game fan, but I know my friend watches EVO and its regional qualifiers, and I know people love the game b/c it's perfectly balanced (except for some really low tier characters). I've seen this first hand too - after watching the last few matches of Sf4 at evo, and seeing the variety of characters (from seth to f.long, to viper), you can tell all characters have their strengths and weaknesses.
I just stopped playing world of warcraft and would love to start playing a new MMO RPG but I don't know which one and im interested in GW2 can any one give me a tip or recomendation or soemthing?
@SagelikeOne That's true, but It varies between quests. It's not like wow where one quest you kill 5 wolves. Then the quest after that you kill 6 bandits.

@XxwolfhunterxX1900 No, not really. Guild Wars 1 (and 2) has/will have a more story-driven element, not using the story as an excuse to get you to kill ten more rats. The use of Dynamic Events in GW2 means you don't -have- quests in the same way anymore at all. Things happen in the world while you explore, and you either help out or you don't. You aren't sent left and right to kill rats in different corners of the map - you are exploring and find things to do. It is quite new
@xxxxmanuftwxxxx You could check out Guild Wars 1 and get a bit of history, look at the world in which GW2 will be set, just 250 years later. It is also without monthly fee (as opposed to WoW and SWTOR) so you buy once and play forever.

guild wars 2 is really diffrent than guildwars,factions,nightfall and eye of the north. I can't wait to buy gw2 because i have 8 slots and all 8 slots are full with level 20 caracters. and i'm not alone. if been to every place and again i'm not alone that did that. so its time for gw2.
Loved gw1, but this looks more like an asian inspired mmo, and yet they don't wan't you to farm.... guess I'll wait and see but so far. I'm not impressed. A diffrent new skill set for underwater combat plus ranged and melee could be more confusing than fun... oh well...

And you can get used to elitists and weirdos in a week unless you are a ('scuse the language) whiny bitch. Guild wars is more easily accessible, and history shows that anything with a lower price will have more people abusing the product. I was talking about GW2 the whole time.
@CJTheInvader The good thing is that those elitest players in Wow will stick to playing WoW as all the players on it will be elitests and they will have much more fun playing together - so with the majority of them gone in their own world, we will have even more fun playing together in GW2 :)
@CJTheInvader WoW discourages teamwork. In GW2 all players are able help each other out in desperate situations like giving someone a protective spell to defend them or even to revive if they are down. There are also dynamic events which players can simply walk into and work together to defeat the enemy. Gathering nodes - someone can easily steal your node while you're trying to get it, in GW2 this is not the case.
In WoW, even the opposing faction can help you out and most of the time they do. Clearly you have never played WoW "And if you have, not for long" Because you have no clue how its community works. Ive seen tons of people helping eachother and tons more hating eachother, it does much better then GW2's.
You honestly think that communities arent made until a game is released? Thats like saying no scientists work on technology because it isn't invented.

You have to organize a raid with people, what encourages working together more, making up a game plan to defeat a enemy so you all will be better off, or just waltzing right the fuck in there with everyone else with little to no strategy and not even talking with the people who are doing there own thing and ignoring you.
So far, people at the GW2 booth at pax were much worse then everyone at blizzcon.

@rockasskicker You have never played WoW, have you? They can't talk with you, but they can kill enemies that are kicking your ass, and see if your health is low. they can still heal you too, unless you are on a PVP server. Ive had several people help me and I have helped them.
Dynamic events do not involve strategy or teamwork. That brings people together more then just going in there. You can complete a entire dynamic event without anyone talking, in a WoW raid, you can't.

@jaa914 but aion's gameplay is all about boring grinding, they said they wanted you to feel like you're developing your character as you go through the leveling, they also have a personality system and the combat looks much more fun than aion :)
@FancyTophatDude no mmo rpg can escape grinding... its just not possible when there is that big of a leveling system. so yes they may have a good combat system and personality etc. but aion had good leveling with pvp, it was a pvpve game, so you will most likely have the grinding moments in gw2 as well. or you will end up with how wow is now... do 1/4 of all quests in the area and you're ouleveled it, which means u loose alot of loore and get incomplete storys.
@jaa914 aion had good leveling? it was pretty much like "kill that! now kill 10 of those! and some of those as well!" it just got boring so quickly :/ wow's going in a similar direction with it's repetitve dailies...
based on what i've heard so far, gw2 doesn't have quests at all, that means it uses a dynamic system where somewhere in your region something is happening and the game tells you to go do something about it. or maybe you talked to someone previously and that turns into an event later
@FancyTophatDude even if they're not called quests it will most likely be grinding like quests. like i said, mmo rpg's uses a leveling system and experience system that requires grinding. if not you would have to double the amount of quests to do, or increase the xp you get significantly. which then imo rewards you too much for doing too little. story line quests have grinding in them because it suits the story, they give you reasons why you need to kill those monsters, which makes it more fun.

@FancyTophatDude i hope you are right cause no mmo rpg has been able to pull it off. grinding to me is killing same mobs over and over and doing similar quests over and over. if they manage to give us a game where there are quests that actually make you progress in the story constantly it will be great, but doing quests where you have to kill alot of mobs just to kill them or to acquire items it will get boring in the long run. i cant see how they would avoid it but if they can it would be great

I had fun with WoW, I haven't played it in 2 years or any other MMO for that matter. I'm not gonna knock WoW and say it's trash just because GW2 is coming out. I do think I will give this game a shot though. It's between this and Blade and Soul.

@fiiliop K so wait a year until it's fun. How great. RS isn't fun. It's not a fun machine, it never will be. You click on an enemy and watch a boring turn based battle. That's not fun. The animation's so bad, it makes your "gameplay" a slideshow. Btw, I played with RL friends+ was in a clan where we just did clan wars for fun. The game wasn't fun at all, the only fun thing was chatting with friends. Which is stupid to pay any amount of money for. There are no fun parts in RunEscape.

And you can get used to elitists and weirdos in a week unless you are a ('scuse the language) whiny bitch. Guild wars is more easily accessible, and history shows that anything with a lower price will have more people abusing the product. I was talking about GW2 the whole time.

@CJTheInvader WoW discourages teamwork. In GW2 all players are able help each other out in desperate situations like giving someone a protective spell to defend them or even to revive if they are down. There are also dynamic events which players can simply walk into and work together to defeat the enemy. Gathering nodes - someone can easily steal your node while you're trying to get it, in GW2 this is not the case.

Ive seen tons of people helping eachother and tons more hating eachother, it does much better then GW2's.

@rockasskicker In WoW, you don't just walk in and help eachother out. You have to organize a raid with people, what encourages working together more, making up a game plan to defeat a enemy so you all will be better off, or just waltzing right the fuck in there with everyone else with little to no strategy and not even talking with the people who are doing there own thing and ignoring you.
So far, people at the GW2 booth at pax were much worse then everyone at blizzcon.

@rockasskicker You have never played WoW, have you? They can't talk with you, but they can kill enemies that are kicking your ass, and see if your health is low. they can still heal you too, unless you are on a PVP server. Ive had several people help me and I have helped them.
Dynamic events do not involve strategy or teamwork. That brings people together more then just going in there. You can complete a entire dynamic event without anyone talking, in a WoW raid, you can't.

@jaa914 but aion's gameplay is all about boring grinding, they said they wanted you to feel like you're developing your character as you go through the leveling, they also have a personality system and the combat looks much more fun than aion :)

@FancyTophatDude no mmo rpg can escape grinding... its just not possible when there is that big of a leveling system. so yes they may have a good combat system and personality etc. but aion had good leveling with pvp, it was a pvpve game, so you will most likely have the grinding moments in gw2 as well. or you will end up with how wow is now... do 1/4 of all quests in the area and you're ouleveled it, which means u loose alot of loore and get incomplete storys.

@jaa914 aion had good leveling? it was pretty much like "kill that! now kill 10 of those! and some of those as well!" it just got boring so quickly :/ wow's going in a similar direction with it's repetitve dailies...
based on what i've heard so far, gw2 doesn't have quests at all, that means it uses a dynamic system where somewhere in your region something is happening and the game tells you to go do something about it. or maybe you talked to someone previously and that turns into an event later

@FancyTophatDude even if they're not called quests it will most likely be grinding like quests. like i said, mmo rpg's uses a leveling system and experience system that requires grinding. if not you would have to double the amount of quests to do, or increase the xp you get significantly. which then imo rewards you too much for doing too little. story line quests have grinding in them because it suits the story, they give you reasons why you need to kill those monsters, which makes it more fun.

@FancyTophatDude i hope you are right cause no mmo rpg has been able to pull it off. grinding to me is killing same mobs over and over and doing similar quests over and over. if they manage to give us a game where there are quests that actually make you progress in the story constantly it will be great, but doing quests where you have to kill alot of mobs just to kill them or to acquire items it will get boring in the long run. i cant see how they would avoid it but if they can it would be great

Huge boss fights through the game.. At all levels.
Under water bosses.
Accept the truth.. I have, and I played WoW for four years.
And yes, fighting a huge boss is more appealing than killing 6 wolfs. I was 11/13 heroic in WoW.. (before firelands).. I have since quit WoW because once you properly research this game.. You know it's something much more special than the competition.

The animation's so bad, it makes your "gameplay" a slideshow. Btw, I played with RL friends+ was in a clan where we just did clan wars for fun. The game wasn't fun at all, the only fun thing was chatting with friends. Which is stupid to pay any amount of money for. There are no fun parts in RunEscape.
