  • ok thats really sad! i love cedar point my life would be nothing without it :( good thing nothing really happened

  • poor coasters, they are all destroyed by a tornado D:

  • omg my mom was there when that happend

  • ok 2 people agree with me?!! only 2?!!! oh wow!

  • "New ride Power Tower"

    Ahh old video, good stuff.

  • its called a water spout not water fountan

  • Well, having grown up in Oklahoma............I HAD to check this out. That wasn't a tornado - it was an itty bitty baby waterspout. Probably only an F1 and they hardly ever make it to land. Might have messed up your hair, but if it did hit - you'd be better off strapped into that ride I would think. What a pussy that guy was for deserting those people though.

  • @velcrodogowner -The "employee" was probably some Russian kid here in the states as part of a program to bring them over here to work. CP craps on their workers and pays crap too. They probably have never seen any type of whirlwind before. They probably thought it was the ghost of Karl Marx coming to get them!

  • I dont trust you Scott Powers and I sure as hell dont trust your pedo stache

  • Thats messed up poor people

  • WOW WHAT A WUS! NOT EVEN LETTING THOSE POOR PPL GO Thumbs up if u agree

  • Jeez what a pussy, just took off and left them there? Sheesh.

  • i love cedar point!!!

  • Thats ridiculous... they should have sued the workers... thats ridiculous... the workers could have undone the bars with one button. And then they would have been free.... I mean god stupid people

  • the warning announcements im sure were like muffled to no human ear understanding lol

  • pause it at 13

  • Power Tower I thought automatacally realeased its lap bars once the ride stops in its proper position.

  • my ipod has a better camera

  • @GetSomeGringo ya, did you have your iPod in 1998? didn't think so

  • Pow!

  • OMFG!!is the ride ok???

  • OMG, these camera's r freakin dull

  • aww the 1990s

  • that tornado is how millenium force was born

  • ESO QUEEEEE XD

  • Your on the dragster oh shit look it's a new ride!!!

  • ikr

  • june 30 is my bday:(

  • i went this year! i go almost every year well, cause its the BEST PARK EVER!

  • @RoxyandAly Cool Thats my birthday! but thats not the reason for the trip we just go every year hence we live by the border of Ohio in Michigan.

  • LOL the new ride "power tower" :) btw this happened 7 days after i was born

  • Im going august 4th

  • im going august 7th :)

  • I'm going tommorow

  • OMG im going to cedar point tomarrow

  • @sideboobgodfather yea you have to have god

  • @yomom4202 u wuld sue them cuz they just left u on the coaster -.-

  • @yomom4202 they would probably sue because the employee took off and ran away and left them stuck there.

  • I was on thAt powertower this nice guy with his family told his family to run for the car while he pushed the button the seats popped up and then I had to find my family worst day ever

  • Cedar Point now has hi-tech radars to detect when storms are comming and they hve tornadoe sirens.

  • @98CEDARPOINT Last I knew they looked at the doppler from Cleveland on the NWS site and they still have no sirens.

  • Thats Scarey I Fell Sorry For The People On The Ride When It Happend

  • @hannahod123 *scary, *felt

  • 0:50 really? did he have to say that?

  • I was there when it happened

  • i hope this tornado doesnt come back when im there after 1000 channel views. that would be bad.

  • nice...the rats leave the ship...

  • It was a water spout.

  • @Teztost3rpwn When a worker's supposed to do his job and doesn't and potentially gives you a death sentence, you would too.

  • It would be awesome if you were stuck at the top of top thrill dragsters when this was happening

  • holy shit!

  • the stormy days at cedar point are the best because everyone gets the hell outta there = NO LINES! and Ohio's weather changes as quick as a politician's mind, so if you wait an hour, it's nice out again and you get 10-15 minute waits

  • @jeremyfrancis When we had season passes we used to check the radar if there were storms and then time it so that we would drive through the storm on our way there and arrive just as everyone was leaving. All these wet people driving past us looking at us like we were going the wrong way LOL then everything would open back up and we would have a perfect no line evening.

  • blarghlbltmyk. moar reasons not to ride power tower. >:(

  • Now we all know how Wicked Twister was created.

  • lmao, the "new ride, the power tower". XD

  • I forgot how shitty video cameras were in 1998.

  • @20trackSTARZ14 you're*

  • about 20 seconds in i realized this was a natural disaster, not a ride...

  • wow...it would suck if you were on a ride that lasted a while, while this was happening

  • im going monday ha

  • This must have been before Tracie Wells came to Indianapolis to work for WXIN.

  • thumbs up if you were going to make a wicked twister joke

  • @20trackSTARZ14 Well... it'd be more like Wind-found...

  • thumbs up if you would sue the fuck outta them

  • @UpgradeSkateboards

id sue them for part owner ship of Cedar Point heck yea go there for free anytime u want ! O and first thing to do is Fire the Guy that left me on the Ride !

  • @AmericanNinja85 Ha noooo I'd send him to be stuck on top of Top Thrill Dragster and let like 5 tornadoes come!!! lol

  • @UpgradeSkateboards

That might be a long wait !

  • @UpgradeSkateboards Yeah, that's the ghetto way to make money. Sue them. Thumbs up if you are sick of assholes suing everybody. Just makes it more expensive for the people who work and DON'T sue. Ass.

  • @UpgradeSkateboards

that's the first thing i thought when he said the guy left them there!

  • @UpgradeSkateboards sueing doesnt fix anything, you are the type of person to sue everyone for anything.

  • That would suck to have't to go home after all the money you payed to be there -____-

  • oh ya

  • im not

  • im am not

  • its a water spout, not a tornado. idiots

  • @troth1996 a water spout is a tornado that forms in water. thats like saying a hurricane and a typhoon arent the same. :\

  • @troth1996 ...cause everyone cares about the difference between a water spout and a tornado. We don't give a crap!

  • "and im um looking down and i see what looks like a waterspout in the water" FAIL "and i can see the tail as it comes down" tornado does not have a tail FAIL

  • The first time I ever saw a tornado, was when dad and I were searching for apartments, when I was going to college in Erie PA. It was actually a reasonably nice day, not fully overcast or raining, and there was a thin tornado/waterspout out in the lake, about 3 miles away. It had me terrified, but dad didn't seem to care much, as he saw them many times before. He said we'll worry about it, if it get's larger and comes inland. It broke up at shore, and only damaged a trailer on the shore.

  • Man, im not going on the power tower on a rainy day..

  • sure he doesn't work there any more lol

  • It happened on my birthday! hahaha

    I was 2

  • i remember seeing this broadcast back in 1998

  • you would think this would make me want to go there less, but nope.

  • it was freaking 13 years ago. nobody cares.

  • yes Cedar Point does have a pA system. I worked there for 5 years and heard it every morning!

  • @tay23tay45 it's a freaking tornado regardless of it being in water or on land go to school

  • That is a waterspout... very common in the fall over Lake Erie.... Not a tornado...

  • I was in cedar point when this happened. I was 13 at the time. I remember turning around in the middle of the park towards where the giant ferris wheel used to be and saw the water spout behind it. People were running away screaming like you see in the movies.

  • could he sue them

  • @nick2044able im sure in some way he could

  • Thumbs up if you would like to be them stuck up there. As long as there wasn't a lot of debris you would be pretty sound up there. I think it would be exhilarating passing through a tornado.

  • Power tower is fucking awesome and so is dragster

  • Water spouts (with enough wind power backing them up) Can in fact become a tornado once it makes contact with land. So, possibly it was both.

  • You know what would have been really ironic? If they were riding the "Wicked Twister",lol

  • CRAZY

  • that ride operator try being stuck at the top of power tower and come face to face with a tornado. i outta kick his butt so bad itll be white.

  • what ride is at 1:38 ? before the corkscrew? that looks fun. i dont think its there though

  • @VanceRox901 Its called Demon Drop @ Cedar Point ;)

  • @VanceRox901 its the demon drop and its now at a park in PA, its no longer at cedar point

  • @VanceRox901 yeah it was the demon drop it was removed in 2009 and was relocated to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Pennsylvania i loved that ride and im pissed that i have to go to PA to ride it

  • Haha 'Power' Tower

  • hah I am sure those employees got FIRED

  • Cedar Point does NOT have a public address system!

  • My parents told me that They were at cedar point when this happened and I was 5 years old lol.

  • dude the workers a dick

  • It was a twister it couldn't have been that bad

  • I was there. 7 years old at the time. I'm glad the lady confirmed there were at least 3 funnels, because one of my vivid memories is looking one way and seeing a funnel, then looking the other and seeing another. I wasn't sure if this was a figment of my imagination or not. Glad it wasn't.

  • That is actually a tornade. But it is very small though.....

  • thats not a tornado trust me lol our house has been destroyed by one

  • cool

  • i wanna go on that one! :D

  • This is old...

  • do wait they were at the top when they lifted the bars or what? id rather stay on the get let off at the top.

  • I saw them that day. There was 5 all in a row.First 2 were very thin-looked like giant pencils, the next were alittle bigger and the last was getting wider as it was going across the water.I was on Cleveland Road and you could see the water beeing lifted to the sky.And didnt breakup even crossing the Cedar Point Causeway.A week before there was a waterspout over Port Clinton and came ashore and turned into a tornado and when all the way near Fremont.

  • That's some wicked twister.

  • @azyndragon89 lol

  • I love being at Cedar Point when there's a storm, I've had some great memories made during thunderstorms there. x] Ohh, good times. I know I'll for sure when I have kids I'll take them to get a pass every summer like my mom does for me. :)

  • @Gracieglimmerr If it rains hard enough and fast enough the midway floods. I have a pic of myself in the 90's totally drenched standing in about 6 inches of water in the midway smiling and laughing.

  • @PianoShapedObject The same thing happened to me in June or July and I was there with my best friend, it was great. Haha

  • I was actually there that day. We had a different experience. The employees kept trying to make sure everyone was in the arcade. Instead I kept going back outside to watch. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with it. I found it educational and exciting, but then again I like that kind of stuff.

  • Wow, I hope that never happens when I go!!!!! O and top thrill is da boom!!!! I went on it 3 times

  • cedar point is awsome! i go every summer! i live in wisconsin but istill drive there! road trip lol! o and by the way none of the rides got destroyed ecause there strong!

  • Good vidéo

If you want a old film in Cedar Point you can search "Cedar Point 1978" in you tube.

  • Power Tower would be the safest spot. The tornado wouldnt even be able to knock it down. I wish the tornado did hit it because the guy wouldve got some nice footage

  • @SmashBrosFan19 Possibly, but the debris flying around in a tornado would make it dangerous or fatal.

  • @mdice42 Possibly, but the tornado was rather small, so we can assume that the risk of getting hit by flying debris in it is very minimal.

  • I love cedar point, fav amusement park ever(will it's the only one iv been to besides Michigan adventures)

  • a similar situation happened here at six flags great america (illinois). the employees didn't leave people stranded on the rides, but they didn't give them any instructions as to where they should seek shelter.

  • CEDAR POINT LOOKS SO FREAKING FUN!

  • 1998? Who cares?

  • @JLTRAIN233 Umm Millium Force Was Built When This Happend :/

  • @badboi787 um.....

  • @JLTRAIN233 And Millium Force Is Awesoe Even Tho Im In The UK :(

  • @badboi787

um.... did i ever say millennium force was terrible? and by the way get your facts straight, millennium force was built in 2000, they started to talking about making millennium in 1998 and they never actually knew what it was going to be called at that time and this is coming from a person who lives in ohio half-hour away from cedar point and goes there ever year.

  • where is snake river falls?

  • i thought this was for a new roller coaster :(

  • @BeyondNeptune The guy wasn't pissed because of the weather, moron. He was pissed that the CEDAR POINT EMPLOYEES left them stranded on the ride in the path of a tornado. He wanted changes to the emergency procedures so that the employees would get the riders off the ride if it ever happened again. Asshole.

  • @LMACMA Good, they didn't deserve the job after that. I worked there in 2001 as a games operator and in 2002 as a cashier in foods and even I freaking KNEW that you check to make sure every last person is OFF the rides before leaving the ride for safety.

  • I hate assholes who have that attitude - "Well, i might go back to Cedar Point - but only if they make some changes..."

Shut the fuck up. This is a rare occurance and a fucking amusement park can't contrl the fucking weather, I wish these assholes would stop with the fucking attitude that the company is always out to kill the public. Fucking cowards and pussies.

  • 38Squid fyi, a tornado and a waterspout are (almost) the same thing.

  • I remember it 2 I was only 3 years old I didnt know what was going on

  • Comment removed

  • i was there, just got off the demon drop and saw the funnel clouds

  • So, some random stranger was somehow able to miraculously lift the shoulder harnesses that the guests couldn't? Um. Yeah. Uh-huh. Right.

  • THAT WOULD BE AQUARD IF THE WATERSPOUT SUCKED THE WICKED TWISTER BUT I DONT KNOW IF WICKED TWISTER WAS THERE THEN AND TORNADOS AND WATERSPOUTS HAVE DIFFERENCE IN THEM!

  • @TheCoasterlover639

It wasn't and neither was Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and Maverick.

  • 1998,well at least dragster and millennium werent there at the time, thats all i gotta say

  • thumbs up if u would not want to be them stuck up there

  • @alleyd56 i do if it hit me it wouldnt destroy the ride it was ''weak'' and if it came on me id get to experience the inside

  • @alleyd56 er i think thats pretty fucking obvious i mean it is on the news your just trying to get thumbs up -_-

  • @wowftw120 whatever they got out that just what matters

  • @alleyd56 i would actually be excited to be stuck up there with a tornando right in front of me.. i mean i am strapped in, i am not going to get sucked up! lol i have always wanted to see a tornado face to face! there couldnt be any safer way to do that, than being strapped in! lol

  • titanic was made a year before this and it has way better qaulity than this news report unless this tv its on fails

  • Btw, there were about 3 more funnel clouds that touched down near the very first entrance to the park/island. Shit was flying and grown adults were screaming for their lives. You be trapped in a park full of metal and not freak when you see this.

  • I was there. The shot when the funnel dissipated, it was directly above me. I was 14 then. Talk about a thrill. I was in the line for the Raptor and jumped the fencing to run away.

  • the only amusement park in the world that can create tornoadoes on cue. =)

  • O.O THIS WAS ON THE YEAR I WAS BORN

  • aww...That was terrible for Ohio residents. When I see that again, I gonna say this to myself,"I've never seen this tornado before in my entire life".

  • haha 0:57 there faces

  • WOW if i was on that ride and that worker left us up there i wold be like getch your ass back here!

  • YA ikr slow newz day :P haha

  • I'ts weird not seeing the Top Thrill Dragster in a vid about Cedar Point. All the vids i see were made after it was made.

  • I hope that cowardly pussy of an employee got his punk ass fired for not helping those people. They just left them on the fucking ride like it didnt mean anything. Sad excuse for a human being >.<

  • psh "scott says he will go back to cedar point as long as the park makes some changes" - who can stay mad at cedar point?

  • We were at Cedar Point a few years after this when there was a tornado warning. We only knew because we had went out to our car to eat lunch and heard it on the radio. There were no sirens or action taken by the park employees to warn people about the dangerous situation. The only warning was the storm itself.

  • i was 2 days old when this broadcast happened

  • trained for emergency cituations my ass

  • power tower is fun but wuldnt wanna be trapped up there during a tornado

  • That is NOT a tornado but a waterspout. Scary looking, but nowhere near as destructive as a tornado.

  • @38Squid It actually was a tornado from a tornadic supercell over water. It was not a waterspout/landspout as you were describing. I've done some considerable research on this day, and it indeed came from a supercell thunderstorm.

  • @38Squid water sprut scars me but good thing i live in california

  • @38Squid You say waterspout, I say tornado. It's a rotating column of air in contact with the ground and connected to the cloud above it, and it appears to cross the roadway at one point which makes the whole tornado/waterspout argument pointless as it would be classified as a tornado at that point irrespective of terminology. Waterspouts, as you say, can still have significant windspeeds and I wouldn't want to be strapped to a ride waiting for it to slam into me.

  • @38Squid There were actually more tornadoes that day. And there also was a waterspout.

  • prolly safe as fuck up there in the harness lol

  • id be peeing

  • thats scary
