Although it is possible that they were both filmed at the same time Or it's that Simon liked this scene and incorporated the "What ya doin'?" bit into the scenes he did with Bill Bailey in Space

@TopGunSGA Well, from what I know on the Spaced website and little bits of information on the DVD Extras it seems that Simon and Bill hung around a lot together, chances are they both started it as a private joke a long while before either Spaced or IIBB were filmed. All I really know is that Spaced used it a lot, so I retract that earlier statement and now say that it's a leftover from Bill and Simon's friendship. Side note: have you seen Simon's cough syrup ad?

Check that out, you can see where his passions lay even back then, and laugh at the irony when he bad-mouths the goatee beard, despite sporting one in Spaced and Shaun Of The Dead in later life.
