@jmills1215 if he sucked so bad, why did he make it and ur shit rock/metal band didn't? maybe because he was actually or original or something? who knows.
Concert in Denver, 1995 at the Mercury Café: I sat in front of Mojo's monitor speaker and passed him drinks from the crowd. He'd downed them and lined the empty glasses, upside down along the stage.
I was! Can't help but get nostalgic about it from time to time. But you're right... didn't realize back then that it would kinda go extinct like it did. Granted, there are great NEW memories to be made with new shows, new bands, etc... but it isn't the same. Thank God for memories, though, right?
Coo., you were there too back in the day? so many good bands played there & at the time, didn't even realize how special that time was & that it would never be that way again. Things change so much, but didn't know it would be so drastically changed, you know, todays youth, run by clever marketing schemes to tell them what to like & how to look & live your life on a computer. Sad, they will never know how cool that time in our lives during the 80's would be, cause you just can't go back there.
I'm not much of a fan of the 80's, (turned my back on new music, moved into a cave and listened to old garagepunk, soul nad rockabilly during that decade) but god what you're saying about kids today being manipulated by corporate mentality and marketing schemes
(I-phone apps anyone?) and chained to their computers and texting, etc, is so sad and so true!
I was into punk & heavy metal back then & memphis was known for rockabilly music (which I thought was weird back then), I was anti-establishment for sure, no weird trendy 80's new wave for me. I like the Talking Heads though & the Grateful Dead, but no gay ass bands from the 80's (you know what I mean?!)
what the fuck just molested my ears.

When I moved to San Diego in 81, this loon came to audition for my band. We were a rock band leaning to metal. GOD he sucked and still does.

Man, I like the Smiths and Mojo. I doubt Mojo would know what to make of me if he met me.

OMG - I went to White Castle with Mojo Nixon when he played St. Louis in '88 or '89. Skid Roper gave me roses from the stage at Off Broadway.
This is incredible. I can't believe he said White Castle.

I saw him at the Antenna Club in Memphis in the early 80's, I was like, what the fuck is this? At the time, it was a punk club. Funny!

Wow, the world famous Antenna Club, as they'd say. Hadda be a helluva show. I saw the Grifters & the Dead Milkmen there once. Such a great venue...
